I never understood why the omnibus was a smaller physical format than the stand alone editions.

Hi Rob

I suspect because this short run of books was in practice a way to assert copyright.
Marvel had done a very similar thing for Marvelman.

Uncontested this then paved the way to print more in a mass market edition.
Just a guess on my part...

Mine arrived today. I'm guessing these really were misplaced or preview copies as mine's un-numbered.
