Hi board chums.

Due to space issues, I'm having to get rid of my entire collection of 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine.

I have a complete collection of 2000 AD from prog 1300 - present, and Megs from 4.14 (27th August 2002) - present.

All in good condition and complete with variant covers (where applicable), and all Meg floppies present.

Not sure if I want to start selling off little chunks. I'd rather get rid of the lot all at once to be honest. Also not sure how much they're worth, so realistic offers considered.

I live in Keighley, West Yorkshire and due to the large amount of Thrill Power, they'd need to be collected.

Let the tumbleweeds commence!

Classifieds / Enormous quantity of progs/Megs
15 January, 2016, 02:10:02 PM
I've been toying with the idea for a while and have now come to the decision to get rid of my collection of progs and Megs due to space issues, and also the fact that I buy the GN colections of anything I want to re-read.

I have a complete collection of 2000 AD from prog 1300 onwards, and the same for the Meg from that same week (can't remember the number).

I live in Keighley, West Yorkshire and they'd need to be picked up from my house.

I am looking to sell, but don't really know what they're worth, so I'm open to offers.

Message me with any offers if you're interested.

Cheers.

News / Rebellion to publish Scarlet Traces series.
19 September, 2015, 09:44:06 AM
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but, along with Goldtiger, it's another exciting development in the ongoing strengthening of the 2000 AD portfolio.

Now that non-2000 AD/Meg content is being licenced, the sky really is the limit.

General / Judge Dredd inspired Adidas trainers
25 November, 2014, 02:17:59 PM
Just want to show off these custom made 'MiAdidas' trainers I designed.

As you can (hopefully) see, the colour scheme is a tribute to the Judge's uniform, and the word 'DREDD' is embroidered across the front strap.

If I had the money, I'd do some Strontium Dog, Nemesis and Rogue Trooper ones too.

I don't particularly like Transformers, not since I was 13 anyway, but I really want these.

This looks really interesting. A free, 32 page showcase, featuring work by Alan and Leah Moore, John Reppion, Peter Hogan and Garth Ennis. It seems like the app will be an open source tool for creating digital comics.

Here are some extracts from the press release -

Moore is pushing boundaries again with Electricomics - an app that is both a comic book and an easy-to-use open source toolkit. Being open source and free, the app has wide potential not just for industry professionals, but also businesses, arts organisations and of course comic fans and creators everywhere.

Moore - "It will then be made freely available to all of the exciting emergent talent that is no doubt out there, just waiting to be given access to the technical toolkit that will enable them to create the comics of the future."

Electricomics will be self published by Moore and long time collaborator Mitch Jenkins as Orphans of the Storm, and funded by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts. As a publicly funded research and development project, Electricomics will be free to explore the possibilities of the comic medium, without the constraints of the industry.

Not much more detail in the article below, but I'm excited by what I've heard.

Film & TV / Empire Strikes Back timeline.
16 May, 2014, 11:16:24 AM
I've been idly pondering this for some years and it just occured to me that I have a pool of massive, gobby nerds at my fingertips who might be interested in going on and on and on about it.

Here goes; for how long is Luke training with Yoda on Dagobah? It seems like, at most, a few days judging by parallel events occuring on the Millenium Falcon, and yet he virtually turns into super-jedi after this short period of training.

Luke's time on Dagobah takes place in the time it takes Han Solo and friends to escape from Hoth, hide in an asteroid for an unspecified but apparently not very long time, fly to Bespin without using Hyperspace and get captured, with Luke arriving just after Han has been frozen in carbonite.

This, I generously estimate, can't have taken more than a week, and yet Luke seems to progress very, very quickly after a couple of days jumping around in a jungle.

Also, considering that we discover in Return of the Jedi that Luke spends no further time training with Yoda before the little green sod kicks the bucket, how does Luke improve between Empire and Jedi?

I've just bought myself a Nexus 7 and I've been gingerly poking around in the realm of digital comics.

I've got the Comixology app and I bought vol 1 (5 issues) of the 'new 52' Batman series for £2.50 which was great value.

The last time I read a regular Batman comic, it was drawn by Alan Davis and I didn't have grey hair so I was worried it would all be too new and confusing. I needn't have worried though, it was very newreader friendly and actually a cracking Batman story.

Trouble is, the next volume is about 8 quid which seems A LOT for 5 issues of digital comic.

I've also been buying single issues of Moth City (excellent title which makes full, innovative use of the digital medium) and Dept of Monsterology direct from the Renegade Arts website(again, excellent).

I just wondered if anyone has any advice on where else to find good digital comics, if there are any titles that anyone would recommend and if there are any online bargains/sales that anyone is aware of.

We could use this thread as an ongoing update on any digital comics developnments.

General / New T shirts/Dredd Case Files in HMV
07 September, 2012, 02:30:13 PM
Don't know if this has been pointed out anywhere else, apologies if it has.

HMV have got two new Dredd T shirts in store. One is a big, grey Dredd badge, the other is a massive, full colour Cliff Robinson Dredd pic which says 'I AM THE LAW!' at the top. The Cliff design doesn't have a pic on the website at the moment but here's the link -

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/simpleMultiSearch.do?searchUID=&pGroupID=clothing+and+accessories&adultFlag=false&simpleSearchString=dredd&primaryID=clothing+and+accessories&btnSubmitSearch.x=57&btnSubmitSearch.y=19

They also have a lot of the early Case Files and the Origins trade for £10 each.

Suggestions / Droid Q&A sessions
24 August, 2012, 03:47:52 PM
I mentioned this in the Film section but I love repeating myself.

Following the tremendous success of the Q&A session with Alex Garland, I began thinking that it would be good if it became a semi-regular board feature where we can put questions to 2000 AD script and art droids and have them answer on this very board.

Is this a realistic prospect?

(this is a bit like writing to Jim'll Fix It but instead of a wizened old man wearing a tracksuit and sporting a mullet, the 'fixer' is a seven foot tall man dressed as a bloody roundhead or summat.)

Nice interview with a couple of little hints about forthcoming thrills.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=40341

Apparently there's a 28 page Dredd story coming in prog 1812. Is that the Xmas prog? If so, shouldn't it be prog 2013?

There's some Brass Sun snippets and questions from some illustrious boarders too.

...if life begins at 40, then today I am 1 year old.

If I don't get at least as many birthday wishes as Roger, I'm going to kill him and then myself. You have been warned.

Hope it's ok to discuss this here. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on either a chipped/modded PS2 or know somewhere where I can take a PS2 to get it chipped/modded?

The (sad) reason is that I want to get the PS2 remake of the Sega Saturn classic, NiGHTS into Dreams. Unfortunately, it was only ever released in Japan. I could get a Jap PS2 but I'd rather get a modded PAL console so I can play PAL games on it too.

I've done a bit of digging on the internet but I can't find anything suitable.

Can any of you help a sad old gamer?

Film & TV / Takashi Miike
16 March, 2012, 10:46:39 AM
Miike Takashi has made some excellent films too. And some really, REALLY wierd ones. Audition is probably my favourite, it's gruesome, scary and filled with ever building tension but it's also one of his most straightforward.

If you're in the mood for 'jaw-on-the-floor' fucked-uppness, watch Visitor Q.

...'s blog. She's just started blogging about being a Japanese mum living in the UK and is trying to raise her profile. Not sure how interesting it will be to most boarders but if you've got kids there is some cool stuff on there.

Sorry for the pimposity. And it's not even my blog. Oh the shame...
