More of the bog standard Marvel formula by the looks of it.

If I never have to see another car flipping in slow motion it won't be too soon.

The visuals look great, and Boseman is still terrific as T'Challa, but the choice of music, I dunno: it's a good exciting piece, but the use of Scott-Heron's perennial words seems like a shallow conflation of a (fantasy) African king with specifically afro-american history, and mixing it up with a Vince Staples track (it is, isn't it?) seems to emphasise the contemporary US situation.

I know that this pertinent to the origins of the comic and the name in particular, but it always strikes me as an odd sort of imperialism when Americans seem to assume that the US experience of 'race' is universal.

I'll take my Afro-Futurism where I can get it.

That's the thing though: while I appreciate Wakanda is a thing unto itself, I'd rather have seen some current bantu/sub-saharan music in there somewhere, instead of what I am (possibly erroneously) seeing as the lazy equivalence of black african = black american.

Like a trailer for an Irish superhero movie (heavens forbid) automatically scored with House of Pain or the Dropkick Murphys. When it should quite clearly be the Rubber Bandits.

That's just a comment on the trailer itself though.  Movie still looks damn good.

That may yet happen in the film itself but this, I assume, is a trailer for the Yanks, in the broadest sense.

I'm definitely going to go see it...
