I thought I'd start a thread for the last in Pegg and Wright's Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, perhaps prematurely, since filming starts this autumn:

There was a time when I clamoured like a misguided fool to see further Spaced/Shaun/Hot Fuzz related material but Pegg's output since Hot Fuzz has dampened my spirit to say the least. Pegg and Frost only seem to make me laugh when they're under Wright's direction. Since they've pastiched the horror and action genres, this one seems like it'll head down the sci-fi route.

Is anyone still looking forward to this or do you share the opinion of the DoG commenter imagestic (see link) that "it's gonna suck big hairy donkey balls"?

Shaun of the Dead will always be in my top 10 movies, and I've a lotta love for Spaced & Hot Fuzz...I'll be going to see this without reservation.
Regardless of any sub-par stuff they've produced elsewhere, the charismatic combo of Wright / Pegg / Frost has yet to let me down.
Roll on 2013.

For me, the combination of Pegg/Wright/Frost has a 100 per cent hit rate, and so I'm definitely looking forward to the film.

Steve Green

Definitely - pretty much what the others have said.

Looks like my prediction might be right about them going down the sci-fi route, since they mention in this article John Wyndam. Not sure who John Cristopher is.

Edgar Wright: "...it's 'a sci-fi comedy', going on to add 'social science-fiction, look it up on Wikipedia and then bone up on John Christopher and John Wyndham'"

The article mentions Day of the Triffids but surely that would be veering too close to Shaun of the Dead territory, what with the apocolyptic slant. Here's the article:

Forgot about this film until Simon Pegg tweeted toay that they were shooting already. Quite like this poster, which keeps to the tone of the other two Wright/Pegg/Frost films.

Here's another poster with names of the pubs in the story, I think:
