Paper stock, in graphic novels and reprints like Underbelly I really want great paper (Underbelly was marvellous).

Call me a dinosaur but I miss the old comic news print era and the old 2000AD ratio. Ah, my dim and distant youth.

Well I blitzed through the first volume over the last few night so this is and instant pre-order. I'm really rather chuffed with this. Part turn of the century adventure saga, part epic fantasy. Just my cup of tea.

Hawkmumbler

Bah, missed the edit button but can anyone shed some light on why the volumes are being published out of order? I mean, Sign of Capricorn is as good a place to start as any I guess but still...

Colin YNWA

Off the top of my head I thinks its in story chronogical order but they've clearly choosen to skip to The Sign of Capricorn as a starting point due to the relatively recent edition of Ballard of the Salt Seas.

As ever I'm happy to be corrected on this but that's what I recall and a quick Google seems to confirm.

Hawkmumbler

It did strike me as odd, because to people who haven't read the previous edition of Salt Sea the Rasputin sub-plot in Capricorn would be lost on them...

I picked this up last week on the reccommendation of my local comic store guy (he knows what I like). I'd not read any of this stuff before, and I absolutely loved it. There were enough hints in the text about Rasputin's previous dealings with our hero for it to make sense, but there may be extra layers for those who know the full story. I'll certainly be picking up the next volume sharpish.

Beyond the Windy Isles has been set back a few weeks according to Amazon. Ah well, better late than never but I do wonder why the sudden change this close to release date?....

Colin YNWA

To be honest I was always surprised that they were being released so clode together in the first place. One ever 6 months seems  reasonable enough.

Might be of interest to some, but a Corto Maltese spin-off focusing on The Desert Scorpions (a British army squad who Corto has many encounters with) has been translated by Cong editions and is avialbale via Itunes. Sadly no news of a print run yet...

Out now!! And a lovely thing it is too.

oh that's interesting I've just had a notice pushing it back (and Bacchus) - wonder if it'll come sooner than the new date?

Me too, but it's encouraging news to hear it's on the shelves (both Corto and Bacchus). Hope it's not to long as i'd like to talk about them in the next podcast...
