I posted this before but it really is a very useful site for digital painters.

Check out the different forums (forae?)

Loads of fantastic, (and some pretty dire) art and helpful tutorials, advice and discussion

Inspired by this very thread, I've dug my tablet back out & already I want to throw the fucking thing through the window.
I'm using the paintbrush tool in  PhotoShop 6.0, and the image zooms right in every time I try to paint anything.
What the buggery fuck is going on and how do I stop it?

GRRRRR....

Hmph. Apparently by asking someone else about it. Bloody thing's stopped doing it now.
It's stil drawing everything in Etch-A-Sketch-esque right angles, though...

I use my left hand..... and it shows!

Is it true what they say? That it feels like someone else is doing it?

I'm just getting back to sketching with pencils, chalk and charcoal... love the idea of trying it out on the computer, seems I was asleep when they started using CG on comics.... Promise I'll wake up

Pah, I need to change the board back to the old style, I didn't notice anyone had replied :).

If you can afford it, and you're going to use it a lot I'd definitely go for a Wacom over the cheaper tablets.

Painter (www.corel.com) is worth a look as well as an alternative to Photoshop, there are some lovely brushes like digital watercolour.

...however, if you're not sure, and you want to give it a try befor splashing out the big bucks, you could do worse than investing in one fo these:

I'm also currently learning to paint and colour digitally using Photoshop.I've put my latest effort in the link below rather than posting the actual pic as it involves some nudity.
If you want useful tutorials and inspiration,I'd highly recommend conceptart.org's forums, they'll point you in the right direction with getting started with using Photoshop for painting,as will www.good-tutorials.com.Ultimately though practise and experimentation will be the best way to learn and get a feel for what all the Photoshop tools can do for you.

Very nice Natsan though it reminded me a bit of this:)
On a more serious note you might like to read/see/gasp at Joel-Peter Witkins' "Gods of Heaven and Earth"-looks like it could be right up your alley
