I love those tees, but I think there's too many logos on the front, and I'd lose the web address too - better on the back?

Keep spreading the Word of Thrillpower Stateside!

Quote from: "ThryllSeekyr"I already have 1635 and 1636. Interesting, expect full reveiw from me soon. As I've already read the Slaine stories. AS i'm catching up on Judge Dredd, Savage, Zombo and CradleGrave.
Given the length of your Slaine-related comments on any other topic, however far removed from Slaine, an actual Slaine review will probably take up about half of Australia's bandwidth! I'll be sure to book a day off work to read them mate!

Quote from: "Devons Daddy"its easily, arranged in that area, anything of that nature actually is easily arranged.
I think a rope and a closet are pretty easily arranged anywhere!

Flippancy aside, a sad loss. I absolutely LOVED Kung Fu as a kid. How many of us fantasised about kicking the crap out of all the bullies and gits that ever plagued us in the style of Kwai Chang Caine? That Gandhi-like pacifism combined with kick-ass martial arts, all in a western - genius!

oh dear. For a start, an article written 32 years ago does not define an entire newspaper, a whole generation of journalists and readers or decades of reporting. I have absolutely no opinion of that article, or the Mills vs Moorcock spat. The ignorant offensive stereotype I referred to was yours alone. Let's just look at what you find so objectionable about people who read this newspaper:
Quote from: "peterwolf"left wing sandal wearing beardy child development University lecturers

Hmm...oookaaay, now let's see:
Left wing - guilty, and proud - I don't consider this an insult. Please don't start an argument about left vs right as it's a ridiculously huge subject. Having said that, I am equally contemptuous of Mail readers, and probably call them "right wing" in the same deprecating tone - most people who I'd say it to would recognise it as an obvious term of abuse, so I'll concede that to someone of your opinions, 'left wing' would be equally bad. Fair dos.
Sandal Wearing. *sigh* What does this mean? Do you hate such footwear? Do you genuinely believe people who read the Guardian wear sandals? Or is it just a lazy childish smirking insult that you've seen somewhere else (probably in an article containing the phrase "political correctness gone mad")?
beardy. Why.....I mean just........why?
child development - Do you have something against this particular discipline? Did some professional once say something upsetting about your development? Child development is an important subject that is closely linked to both healthcare and education.
University lecturers - ah, I think we're getting to the heart of it now. Would I be correct in guessing that you're a "graduate of the school of life" with little time for higher education? This kind of anti-intellectual reverse snobbery really pisses me off. It's very common in Americans who'd rather elect an (apparently) honest moron than anyone with a whiff of cleverness about them. Somebody who spends years studying one corner of some esoteric subject should be revered as an expert in their field, not dismissed for the "relevance" of their work. Combined together, our universities contain the leading edge of current thinking in a multitude of areas, all composed of lots of individual experts, who people probably sneer at for wasting their lives at the taxpayer's expense. Just because you cannot understand the value of something, does not mean that is worthless.

I know you have equally sweeping hatred towards anybody who chooses to disseminate news as a profession, but as a news-junkie, the Guardian stands head and shoulders above the rest for integrity and idealism - Give me my beloved grauniad over the red-top comics, the middle-England tabloid hate-sheets, Murdoch's Global Propaganda Conglomerate or the Daily Victorian (who to be fair, have led the news agenda recently with the MPs expenses claim. Even the shittest papers get a great scoop once in a while!). The Indy was a credible addition to the market, but has lost direction and may not survive financially for much longer.

Quote from: "faplad"I picked up All Star Batman And Robin. Nice, attractive hardback with a gushing introduction from some DC top bod about the legendary creators within. Figured it was worth a look even though I normally avoid the Superhero genre like the plague.
Er. . . I have next to no knowledge of what Batman is supposed to be like but I'm fairly certain this isn't it. Didn't read all of it.
Wrly_brd discovered a wonderfully hilarious review of this a while ago. God-damn Batman!

Quote from: "faplad"After The Kindly Ones there's The Wake and Endless Nights. Turns out now that The Wake is the end of the ongoing series and Endless Nights is a collection of one offs, one per member of the Endless.
No 11, Endless Nights is definitely worth having if you've enjoyed 1-10, even though The Wake concludes the actual story-arc. The quality of the stories and art remains high, though they did start scraping the barrel with some of the later spin-offs. Annoyingly though (for us anally retentive comic geeks) it's a wider and taller volume (well my copy is) than the other ten, thus ruining the symmetry of a  perfect set on my shelf. Yeah, petty, I know!  ;)

correct, and I think that was Sarah Greene's little sister or niece.

and then of course there was lovely toothy Sally Thomsett in Man About the House, though I never fancied the sour-faced brunette one

Quote from: "faplad"Slightly off topic here but the barely computer literate part of me has a question. This thread and the quite enjoyable little debate up above has inspired me to join a forum devoted to Who. The one I found using my rudimentary googling skills wouldn't let me join however cos my e-mail account is "disposable and/or free". This was explained as being yahoo/hotmail etc. Apparently not allowing these e-mail accounts access is "vital to the smooth and orderly running of the forum". So my question is, why? Is it just snobbery or is there some very complex technical reason for it? I ask because I've never had this problem anywhere else. Anyone know?
I did find it oddly exclusive - my e-mail address was acceptable., but I've never had to wait a couple of days until my application to a forum is "manually checked" (for what, Grud only knows). If I'm accepted and after a period of time in which I presumably must conform (NuWho is the BEST EVER, heretics must die etc) , I may be deemed worthy of joining the inner circle and be invited to become a "patron" - at busy times, eg when a new episode has aired, only patrons are allowed to dispense their pearls of acceptable wisdom. It's like the fucking Gallifreyan masons!

And that AI sounds like the most unscientific piece of bullcrap I've ever come across!

Quote from: "Dog Deever"Ohhh yes. OG is without a doubt the very worst place I have ever visited on the Internet. The volume of sheer madness that resides there is staggering.
Sounds like great fun! I've just tried to sign up and they'll let me know if I've been approved in a day or so (ooooh, I hope I'm worthy!) I do like to witness lunacy of this nature first hand, just so I can come back here and bask in the niceness, but I'm getting bored of silently sneering at John Byrne followers!

Quote from: "SpookyTheCat"One of my favourite passtimes is casually dropping into the Primeval thread that it's, in my opinion, the best show on the box.
I'll be sure to pop along and agree with you!

Quote from: "SpookyTheCat"And then ex-fan-professional writers pop up and quote the "AI" to prove, categorically, that NuWho is the most-loved thing ever.
AI?

as for the new lass.......she real purdy! Hyuk Hyuk! (pity the doctor's virtually a child....)

Quote from: "Tiplodocus"This definitely shows up the age differences on the board.
Indeed. Anyone of a certain age ( I was 14) will remember the day when a Blue Peter feature about an exhibition of Victorian underwear was demonstrated by gathering several assorted BBC kids presenters and their young relatives and dressing them up in corsets and stockings. I remember it as being far more exciting than this photo seems to show..

PS - yes to Sally James, Glynis Barber and Muriel Gray, no to Paula Yates
