Books & Comics / Re: Luther Arkwright

I just scored Arkwright integral as well, wonderful stuff, beautifully done, hadn`t read Heart of the Empire before but enjoyed it very much, i have the original valkyrie series but they are falling apart with age along with my copies of books 1,2 and 3 which had that really bad binding that caused the book to disintegrate upon the first reading! Arkwright integral was expensive but a bloody good investment.

This thread brought back memories of the heady days of Joe Soap,Manix,Doomlord etc.............magic stuff! Quite like Clint Langleys modern take on that particular artform! I remember a really dodgy Nemesis and Torquemada photostrip in 2000ad many moons ago

Music / Re: Metal Hammer Judge Dredd, Anthrax cover!

I remember at school in the late 90s a girl in my class won a competition with Kerrang or some such and got to meet Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante who gave her a drawing he had done of Judge Dredd

Lapsed in the 90s but still keep a big stack from about 78 to 92, have recently been abusing amazon for a plethora of graphic novels etc, and as a kid I would have loved to see myself in the 21st century as a 41 yr old on an interactive forum on the "information superhighway" I was lucky to see the golden age of bolland mcmahon et al and then fabry, bisley, hicklenton etc, I even still have all 7 revolver comics and a few issues of crisis, out of touch with the modern 2000ad but am finding my way back into it, im glad I lived to see a decent dredd film! I spent many hours in the 80s drawing posters for one!

Film & TV / Re: Last movie watched...
24 February, 2017, 02:16:11 AM
The last movie I watched was a gem from 1984 called brother from another planet, highly recommend it, I also watched hardware which has dated rather badly and was a rip off from an old kev o neill futureshock called shok, however it did have lemmy from motorhead as a taxi driver and featured stigmata by ministry in the soundtrack

Hi folks, am new to this. First got bit by the 2000ad bug circa 1980 or 81 or thereabouts, I was off school with the flu and my mum flung a comic at me with a kev o neill nemesis cover totally unsuitable for a 4 or 5 year old! I was hooked. Just finished former tharg Steve Macmanus autobiography, thoroughly enjoyed it
