Close schools - starve 1 in 3 kids

This should not be on the list in a civilized nation.

I live in Belgium, British immigrant. My folks are in the UK and most of my friends.  I am sadly not suprised how little the UK gov seems to be doing. Here the schools closed today. All shops apart from food and pharmacy are closed at the weekends. All concerts have been postponed, bars and restaurants are closed but you can go get a takeaway.
Anyone who can work from home are advised to the office is open but the boss sent an email saying work from home. Shops are open in the week but I think they are changing that now to be just essentials.  If you have symptoms you call the doctor and they come to your home. There are daily updates from the state. There are also concessions for mortgage payments and the tax returns can go in a month or so later this year.

All of this makes me feel happy that the gov is taking actions to limit the spread and reduce the death toll. I wish the UK would do something similar. It is not a complete lock down but sensible precautions.

Preorder from Forbidden Planet instead, man.

I would agree gave up on the Hatchette site before it went to the moving message a long time ago. Pre-order form FP and you don't miss an issue. Managed to pre-order all the Dantes until the end I believe.

They seem much better placed to accept that you don't have to have all the answers, and don't do that adult fan thing (?) of needing to force predictive guesses to a story and just roll with it,asking smart questions when they can... not that I can answer them yet!

Yeah that is what always gets me with these threads. Doctor Who is a kids show. I was watching it aged 5 and up. Now I am 50 I still just watch it for what it is and love every minute. When there is a bit of continuity or back story that pops up it is most satisfying but I don't care about inconsistencies. Some shows are better than others I prefer some characters to others but all in all it is just a tv show to be enjoyed not anal-ysed.  Same like all the Star Treks just fun TV.  :-)

And yeah Saphire and Steel was great never understood any of it really, same like Blakes 7.

There's a truth I've noticed through trying to find help when I'm stuck on a coding or technical computer issue and I search for a solution online:

Best resource for coding issues is undoubtedly Stack Overflow most of the derogitory people are monitored out so you get reasonable thought out responses unless someone doesn't understand your question.

So as Wikipedia is not regarded as a reliable source is there a website you guys would recommend for showing my kid what a duck billed platypus is for instance.

What are your preferred, online, encyclopedias?

Wikipedia has its uses, though use as a fictional encyclopaedia isn't one of them

Yeah it is fantastic for a factual resource on the world around us. The fact that articles are backed up by their sources makes it reliable enough for me when tacking questions from the kids :-)

A little off topic, but has anyone ever seen this for sale in an actual shop? I quite fancy the odd issue, but apart from the first few, I've never seen it sold at any branch of WH Smiths or Forbidden Planet.

The advert on the back of virtually every prog says "Ask for it at your local Newsagent" - is that irony? Do Newsagents exist any more? I mean, my local corner shop has a small shelf stocking newspapers and TV Quick, but I'm sure if I asked the bloke who runs it to reserve me a copy of "2000 AD The Ultimate Collection" he would probably think I was smoking something.

I pick up the ones I want from Forbidden Planet. You can pre-order in advance so you don't forget when they come out. Very happy with the service.

The complete Red Seas would be nice. Don't know if that would fit volume wise?

Over here in Belgium they won't accept blood from anyone who lived in England between 1980 and 1996 because of  Variant Creutzfeld-Jacob Disease. I moved over here in 2002 so I am definitely out.  Which is a bit disappointing.

I just started issue 38 Aquila. I never read this in the original issues but was always a fan on Black Hawk in the Tornado years so thought it would be my thing, which it is.

In the intro bumpf at the beginning it suggests that the story has not been completed to this day.

Is this correct?  Is it a series that is likely to be cropping up again in the pages of 2thou? Or is it something that faded away?

I liked both seasons. Thoroughly entertaining television with a tinge of nostalgia to my youth, nice one, worth the sub.  Thanks for the heads up on the shorts will check these out.
