New series comming from Dark Horse.

I'm sure someone hear mentioned the possibility of Darth Maul somehow not being dead and it seems that someone here has thought the same.

General / Am I in the sh*t?
10 August, 2004, 02:44:12 PM
My job is about to change, I'm about to job share with a more senior, retiring college who is going part time.

At present around half my time is spend managing not to do any work.  Arsing about basically.  But they are going to employ someone to backfill my post.  This means that they are going be doing half a week of nothing!

Is someone going to get wise to this.

Basically, am I in the sh*t?

Can't beleive what has happened!

Lent my father-in-law a bunch of video tapes to watch.  Granted some of them were old and not often watched due to time contraints, but they were all originals.

My mother-in-law needed a tape to record a film that they wanted to watch and used one of mine!  Not only that it was Evil Dead 2 she used ("You never watched it anyway").

I'm totally gutted by this action.  One of my all time fave movies gone!

Guess what "better" movie she taped over it with?

Jaws 3!!!!!????!!!!

Sometimes you just want to die.

General / Megazine Reprints - Good or no?
12 April, 2004, 04:07:24 PM
Right.  I've noticed this commong up a few times in some of the other threads and thought that a full blown discussion may be in order here.

Who does like the reprint section of the Meg?  If you don't, why not?  What would you like to see there?  Is Charley's War suitable for the Meg or should it be somewhere else?

Personally, I'm enjoying the reprint section.  Even the stuff I may have seen before, not having any back issues.  Also it contains stuff that may not make it to reprint volumes (like GN's or the now non-existant Best of 2000ad)

As for Charley's War.  I am enjoing this and because its so enjoyable, I don't care if it fits or not (crap way to set up a debate but so what).  Its a classic, quality script from a tooth droid of note, and it does carry a good story with a point.  (does anyone know how long it runs for?)

I heard that there was intentions to run a new Bogy Man in the Meg, that is good news and it fits no better Charley's War in my opinion so go for it.

What about everybody else?

General / Rogue Trooper: Whats going on here?
02 April, 2004, 04:28:27 PM
Okay, I've never been a big fan of Rogue Trooper (awaits for the howls of anger to die down), but last time I read him he had been "re-created" into a new form.  The Bio-chips were supposed to have gone.

Since I've come back i've heard mutterings about the two rogues being merged in history, or something similar, but reading the new story I really am at a loss.

Is this the new Rogue, as redesigned by Dave Gibbons et al, or is this the original Rogoue?

General / Freefall Warriors
29 March, 2004, 04:05:42 PM
At least I think that was their name.

I first came across them in the Doctor Who magazine, the guest starred with the Dr.  They consisted of Big Cat, a sort of human with tiger head, Bruce, a guy with a sharks head (one for Ed), Machine Head, whose head was the same as his space ship, and Cool Breeze, who was a silent one whose ship could phase in a nd out of existence.

They were basically a sort of sci-fi Red Arrows, stunt team type thing.  They got a follow up strip in the back of the Dr Who mag, and then got a prequel strip in the back of the Captain Britain mag that came out (the Jamie Delano/Alan Davies one).

I remember loving them when they were about and always wanted to see more stories about them.  Can anyone give me more details re:writers and artists and if they can be obtained anywhere?

If anyone wants them that is.

I've been clearing some stuff out thats been lying around for a while and have come across Skreemer issues 4-6 by Peter Milligan, Brett Ewins and Steve Dillon.  I've also got a copy of Monster Massacre from Atomeka which features stories from Kev O'Neil and Simon Bisley amongst others.

Anyone want them let me know via e-mail and I'll send them on as soon as I can.

Help! / Tech Problems! Help needed!
22 March, 2004, 03:01:32 PM
Last night I made a fatal error on my computer by accidently wiping out the BIOS (I'd like to suggest that it was someone else but me farting around and not paying enough attention via add/remove)

Now I can't sem to fix it as the computer will only recognise the hard and floppy drives  and the info needed is on CD.

I am intending to format the hard drive and see if this will work but before I do does anyone have any other suggestions?

General / Grendel
16 March, 2004, 02:45:28 PM
I've just recently finished re-reading Matt Wagners Batman/Grendel cross over.  At the time I got it the only other Grendel stuff I could get was the "new" Grendel tale set in the future by Wagner by Dark Horse and some of the mini-series that followed after that.

I've also got a single, text heavy issue on the history of the original Grendel series but is there any other stuff out there?

General / Written by Magic
26 February, 2004, 02:49:10 PM
On the thread about the Watchmen movie there was a link where Alan Moore referred to using magic to help him write more prolifically.

How the hell does that work?  Does he summon up few hundred familiars to do the work for him?  Has he struck a deal a la Sandman and Shakespere?  Does practising magic just infuse him with knowledge  and ability?

I'm not asking for details of spells involved nor am I trying to be flippant as I have a great deal of respect for Moores writting but I just cant see how this works.

This looks like a version of Arthur that is based in the right time period for a change (ie without all the shining middle age armour)

General / Idea for a Cartoon
19 February, 2004, 02:54:30 PM
Ok, yesterday i got to see The League of Extraordinary Gentelmen for the first time.  (I know what everybody said about it but I still had to see it, y'know)

My thought on that film I won't bore you with here, I know it's all been said before.  I have to say that I have not been able to read the graphic novel yet so all this is based on the movie.

Anyway, I got to thinking.  Wouldn't it make a great concept for a kids cartoon?  It would you know.  Think about it, you've got all these great characters running around and all these fantastic gadgets and gizmos that make the marketing end work for the toys.

Every week, Moriarty could be up to some devilishn plan, he could create an army of robots based around the armour used in the film so the kiddies wouldn't have to watch our heroes blow away "real" people.

It couldeven encourage kids to track down the real literature behind the characters and so ebcourage them into worthwhile reading and of course thre would be the ultimate upgrade of eventually moving on up to the Graphic Novel!

Wouldn't you love to see that on the telly?

General / Judge Badges
19 February, 2004, 02:47:36 PM
Reading the Giant/Rico story in this months Meg I noticed that Spurrier's badge appeared larger than the other judges.  No doubt this is due to the length of his name needing the space but it got me thinking.

Is there a standard "mould" for a judges badge? Do they come in a variety of sizes?  Is it just sloppiness on th part of the artist?  What are the badges made of anyway?  I always presumed that the were metal of some sort, but then I'm also sure i've seen bullet holes in them on occasion as well, which might discount that theory.

Anyone any thoughts?

General / Cure for RSI?
20 January, 2004, 05:58:07 PM
Anyone got a cure for repetitive strain injury?

I seem to be doomed to spend most of today typing in 1's and 2's on exel.

I can feel it setting in already!

Help!!
