I hope they are going to be framed and on display in your abode ;)
Hey J3DI, check out my pride and joy. I'm gonna update it this week too:
http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=7767 (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=7767)
I met Colin Wilson at the Melbourne Sopanova last month. He did an original Dredd illustration for me. I scanned it in, cleaned it up a bit and applied my own colours using Photoshop.

Hey that's awesome there Puggfella. I recall saying something similiar when it popped up on DevArt a couple of light years ago.
Man Colin wilson is great. What I wouldn't give for a Dredd mets Blueberry comission...
Royd does indeed sell art on Colin's behalf and can also arrange for sketch commissions to be done, so drop him a line if you're interested folks. (If you need his email address, just p.m. me).
I need to take some better pictures of the Colin Wilson pages I have, but here's the Dredd one (from the 1981 Sci-Fi Special):
(http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/395/scifispecial1981.th.jpg) (http://img686.imageshack.us/i/scifispecial1981.jpg/)
Colonel Kovert - Part 4. Prog 353 I think, so 1984?
Does anyone know what ever happened to the Judge Death Lives artwork? Has any of it ever turned up for sale?
but I remember there being a Carlos Ezquerra 2000AD cover for sale with the old curved 'Featuring Judge Dredd' logo. It seemed odd at the time that the text (logo, price, blurb, etc) had all been glued on by hand rather than being done on a computer.
People who think I already have too much McCarthy artwork should look away now.
Although not out until May, seeing as this image has popped up on The Strangeness and Bleedingcool, I think it's safe to post this page now... (thanks to Wake for this one!)

Owning your favourite page from any series feels great.
Yeah, I've got the cover of Prog 661, which is the Dead Man holding up his Dredd badge. For me, that was an all time classic Dredd moment and I'm thrilled to own that cover.
Ive only recently started collecting original artwork (and it's not 2000ad, shame on me). But im having a bit of trouble finding online sellers of original (published) art. What Ive got so far primarily are these sites :
Is the 2000AD Artwork Gallery (http://www.2000ad.org/artwork/) really that difficult to find?Depends on youre google-fu, I guess... And what youre looking for. I see a lot of 'Not for sale' pages on that site. Also, there are a lot 'not-so-good' interior pages, and (almost ?) no covers from better known artists on better known titles... Oh well, to each his/her own, I guess.
(this is a genuine question, since I got an email yesterday from someone asking where to but 2000AD artwork but apparently oblivious that I sold it myself)
Wow, that Nemesis looks simply amazing ! Which reminds me: Ive always loved the way this character looks, but ive never actually taken the time to sit down and read the comic... :-[ I seriously need to start to get into Nemesis...
I haven't read any Nemesis The Warlock…
Apart from the introductory episode which was basically just a big chase in flying craft where you never see the character*, I haven't read any Nemesis The Warlock either.
Termight, a world at the heart of a cruel galactic empire. A world devastated by nuclear warfare. Deep below ground its inhabitants try to eke out a mere existence, continually threatened by the Terminators, lead by the diabolically evil Torquemada. There is a resistance though, and a new kind of hero. Meet Nemesis the Warlock, champion of the coming rebellion!
I owe you big time for this, Pete - ticks an important box for me, this one.

I'd long suspected this was the secret of ming's collection... but now I wonder if Pete trades his own special tub-time snaps to pay for all those commissions? ;)
I picked up these two at UKCAC in the early 90's

That story and the other McMahon artwork in the 81 and 82 Dredd annuals is some of my favourite ever.
Amazing to see a complete story as good as that all in one place.
Glad it stayed together. It would be nice to see in an exhibition or something.
One more from me - this should be my last for a while, if I have any sense (do I? DO I? No.)
The Ronster.
Chopper.
'Nuff said.
Found some original art I forgot I even had in a recent house move.

How does that happen? :o
Too much art or just misplaced and forgotten about? Looking forward to seeing what you dig up, anyway.
Something dug out from the Vault , a missing McMahon Dp Fink / Hersey ,and no its not for sale ...well at least until im skint or dead .
Just a quick reminder that the Henry Flint Dredd page I have on eBay at moment will be finishing tomorrow afternoon ! .....cheers
A little treat now and again is the way to go, think i need to buy a new piece of original art, havent bought one for a while. Doesnt seem to be that much out there at the minute though.its all hiding under my bed ....i wish ...lol
its all hiding under my bed
Artwork is packed up and ready to go....will post it first thing in the morning Colin...cheersJust a quick reminder that the Henry Flint Dredd page I have on eBay at moment will be finishing tomorrow afternoon ! .....cheers
Well I'll be, wasn't expecting that. I just gone and got myself an 40th B-Day present. I contacted Henry Flint last year and asked if he was doing commissions as my wife said she'd get me one for my 40th (tomorrow Sunday 5th). Alas he wasn't and so I was going to switch to Colin Wilson but couldn't sort that. At which point I drifted from the idea.
Then this came up and I thought what the heck, it'll no doubt go out of my price range but no harm in trying. Wasn't about today when it ended so put my final bid in this morning thinking I'd get gazumped last minute as so often happens. I didn't which is all a very long way around and about say I won this.
YAH ME!!!
No idea about the relative value of original art but then its worth what you want to pay so I'm so, so chuffed with this. An original, colour, Henry Flint Dredd... that's about as good as it gets in my book.
...now to persuade Deb my wife that it gets to join the ranks of on display art... I think tomorrow might be a good day to ask...
its all hiding under my bed
Yes, thats what i thought, ;)
Still admiring your McMahon Fink DPS over on CAF, Dale. Tis a thing of beauty.
Just mooching on ebay and found this:

IS this the cover art? Doesn't look like it to me.
plus $19,000 - yeah right...

here is another page i found ..
You think that's expensive? Try this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390218611117?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Now I know it was a cover but £55,000?! Really? :o
$19,000 - yeah right...
The seller, Romitaman, does seem to price his wares to the extreme, and as consequence, a lot goes unsolded. As much as i love Paul Chadwick's Concrete, i shant be paying the $2,000 asking price (WTF!?! remove a nought, then maybe) for the Concrete piece he has. Ridiculous.here is another page i found ..
Is your house like one of those that Kim and Aggie would go to Dale, but instead of mountains of waste and dog poo, is chock full of 2000ad art? ;)
I've got a Blood Cadets page somewhere.I have as well
Artwork is packed up and ready to go....will post it first thing in the morning Colin...cheers
Who or what was "Euroman comics"? seen that stuck onto a lot of original art.
Am I the only one that really doesn't like Kev O'Neills stuff? :(yep !!!! Kev's work is fantastic ....i see something different each time i look at his work ..
Flint, that is just beautiful. You are a lucky man indeed.
...Jesus Redondo maybe?
I'm still trying to get my head round the awesomeness of those O'neill pages - you're one lucky cat.
I went to a guy's house a while back - he was auditioning to play bass in our band, which didn't happen, but he did have a page of Fabry Slaine on his wall. He nearly got in just on the basis of that alone.
Just received this Defoe commission from Leigh Gallagher - A4 sheet. Very pleased with it. If you are not aware he's got an offer on commissions going on his blog site :-
http://leighgallagherart.blogspot.com/
Yeah, Redondo drew some hot girls as well, that's true. Very underrated artist, I always thought. Don't know if his style was a bit too classic for 2000ad but I always really enjoyed his take on Nemesis. And he made Purity hot too...
The next page i am selling is up on ebay tomorrow, another full colour Henry flint page ! ...this one is the opening splash/title page from part 4 of " Dance of the spider queen" item number... 200709716587The Henry Flint page I have up on EBay finishes tomorrow ! If anyone is interested.... No bids yet !
I'm going to start adding some close-up images for some of my artwork on CAF

Any close up stuff for your Cursed Earth page on its way?
That is REALLY lovely. He is really and underated artist, put on mismatched stories, Stront, and not very good ones, Bradley. Revere is one of my favourite contained stories, a GN wouldnt go astray. Any more pages Dale?

Sorry to bore you guys , these pages are up for grabs
Nice pages vzz - is that a scanned colour print of the inked page? Really great colours...It's the inked page with the clear vinyl speech overlay.
Original Dredd cover art by Mark Harrison. Forgotten which issue number. Pete Wells should be interested in this, I would post this in his covers thread but I'm new to the board so I can't yet.

fatboydale where can i find a listing for that artwork youve got up for sale.. and anyone got any hints on the best places to find / buy artwork thank you
That Siku artwork is from Meg V3 No 11, p 48 & 49. If you'd had any earlier pages, you would have had the joy of seeing Sade give birth to a python.

Great stuff, Paul. From what ive seen, 2000ad original art looks fantastic framed. Might have to go down that route myself, at some point.
I love that Tharg cover. There's been an Eric Bradbury Tharg page over at eBay for a while now tempting me but I've been good. I'd love to own a good Tharg piece.
What was it that Oscar Wilde said about temptation?
How the fook do i top that !!!!!
Looking good, Steve. Is that your Cursed Earth cover commission on the far left? Very nice.Yes it is,though i'm suprised you can tell with my poor photo !! :(
Also, no-one ever seems to mention how much is generally paid for original artwork - but I've got to ask, because this has to be right up there in Bisley territory (which seem to go for thousands).
Brian Bolland's 2000ad painted Annual cover , my top 3 characters from 2000ad ... it could not be better for me .
Think im going to retire after this .... ;)

I had a quick run through the thread and realised I had only shared my lovely Bad Company diptych! Might as well put it all in one place. I'm sure you'll all be able to name the artists and series...
Oh, and I have one more piece on the way...
it's not like I fell off the wagon or anything. I'm in denial, aren't I?
Monkey Business is one of my favourite McMahon Dredd stories, Iain (mainly due to the line of work I'm in)...
Oh.... line of work? Your not in some secret laboratory isolating a evolutionary reversing enzyme, are you? And if so, does it smell of Spaghetti sauce, ;)
....but these don't seem to be by Ron Smith - look more like Robin Smith to me, or is it just my brain acting up? I think Robin Smith was art editor at some point, but wasn't that later than this?

I don't think your brain is acting up. Looking at the eye on the first head and the shading/brushwork on both, I'd definitely say the heads were Robin Smith and not Ron Smith. Ron's work shows a heavier (neater) brush stroke and cross hatch shading. Maybe they changed the heads to add to the drama, you can still see Ron's (helmeted) forward facing head under the first overlay.
Still, two artists for the price of one.
Stew.
Strange that Ron didn't do the alterations himself, though. He's a stickler! (Not to mention fairly quick, and a consummate professional).
Thanks to the brilliant Cliff Robinson, and Wake for pointing out it was for sale, I am now the very proud owner of this piece:

Thanks Cliff, you are the man!
More bits here on Pete's blog (just look at the detail) it's unreal...

Just saw a Ron Smith Judge Child Quest DPS on eBay and looking at the close-ups, something struck me as odd… A couple of heads have been pasted on - nothing particularly strange there (even one of the images of Chopper on the page I have received the same treatment), but these don't seem to be by Ron Smith - look more like Robin Smith to me, or is it just my brain acting up? I think Robin Smith was art editor at some point, but wasn't that later than this?
That whole McMahon / Kennedy Angel Gang pin-up thing on Pete's covers blog has me looking at all art twice these days to make sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing… Er.

Full page of Dredd & Johnny would be ultimate page
I think that would be the ultimate catch for most 2000ad comic art collectors. Heck, comic art collectors full stop.
Id imagine it would also come with one hell of a price tag should it ever turn up.
Not sure who has it now. Brian held onto a few pages from this story, but put them up for sale (i think all went as well) the other year. The "gaze" page wasnt amongst them though.
If i understand right he sell his art via Joe Melchior - http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=9492

No, its a new arrival opaque, i received it last week. Its from a fellow 2000ad art collector, who's had it in his collection for a good few years (20+?). Bought from Forbidden Planet, i think. Still has the original pencilled price mark on the back. £25!

This works really well as a stand alone page imo...
All this talk of The Lord Of Misrule gave me a hankering to have another page from it.
So here, courtesy of Dale, we go:
Not much going on, but its lovely, lovely work. That fine line work is SO fine, done by the looks of it in one go as there's no correction fluid at all.
Up close, it looks like Clint used a very, very fine airbrush splatter nib to achieve tiny mottling effects to the trees, brickwork and (very tiny here) the ends of the chains as they break.

I know that stuff used to be so cheap. I remember looking at 3 pages of sky chariots by McMahon for £35 a page in Comic Showcase back in 1993. I should have bought it instead of those silly comics! >:(

I only really got into collecting the artwork properly in the early 2000's and on Ebay there was still a lot of (now) very very cheap artwork which I wish I could have bought but that was back when I was unemployed.
Still remember the covers for the Apocalypse War GN's going for a couple of hundred?, now I hate to think how much they would be worth.
Heh, one of the worst things about buying 'classic' original art these days is seeing the retro pricing scribbled on the back... I've got McMahon Dredd, Ewins Bad Co., etc. and the original vs. contemporary prices make you grind your teeth. As classic 2000AD artists go, Belardinelli has probably risen least - undervalued and certainly underappreciated compared to many others.
Meanwhile, with a bit of luck I should be getting that Gibbons Rogue concept art this week (and the text for the original series pitch); a nice slice of history there...
:)

Somebody posted this McMahon Rico page on Twitter, saying it had cost him £15 in the early 80's.
I can console myself with the fact that the asking price, back then, would have placed this way beyond my reach.
How much a page from this story would be worth now, i shudder to think.
Funny thing is of course that we want it because of the quality of the work and the story that resides within, not for the value on the open market.
We care.
McMahon proba about £1K, prob more for a Bolland (a lot more if its one of the stolen pages!)

Yeah, I always thought Dondie Cox was the colourist. I like the colouring that was done, only you could tell it had been photocopiued before colouring as the linework was affected.
It was the same with Staples' and Walker's art when it was coloured.

And to be fair to Clint, I could have (and probably have!) heard wrong............
So to be clear I have no issues with Clint over any artwork, just in case anyone thinks I have!
He has always been more than generous every time I have met him and hopefully this will continue in the future when he has some more artwork available.

Would be most kind of you!
Yeah, that's the same size for my Gibson Robo-Hunter (the actual artwork, panel-border to panel border, comes in at 51.5 x 42cm).
I had a quick look for other outsized artwork I have:
Bad Company (first run): 43.5 x 36cm (on a 52 x 44cm page)
Colin Wilson Dredd (his first story): 49 x 36cm (56.5 x 40cm page; his Rogue stuff is along the same lines)

Why is he using such thin paper now?
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Looks like very flimsy paper. Unless he's inking with markers...?
It's very flimsy paper. It's layout paper, 45gms and yes I do use felt tip pens and markers to ink.
I've used all sorts of different kinds of paper in the past, from paper costing £5 a page to tracing paper. This is just my latest phase of papery-ness.
The main reason I use this paper is that I like the feel of the paper when I'm drawing on it. No, that doesn't mean anything kinky. :) What I mean is, I pencil and ink each page on the pad (ie I don't remove a sheet of paper to draw on a more solid surface.), So It gives a slight cushioning effect when drawing. I like it's softness of touch.
The other reason I like using this paper is the fact that if a page goes completely wonky, then I can just pull it out of the page and tear it up without thinking "Crivvens I'm tearing up a fiver!", kinda thing. Because each sheet of paper is so cheap, then I am freed from being "precious" about every single bit of paper. It's been quite liberating for me artistically. I hope it's finally starting to show in the artwork.
Anyhoo, hope that's helped explain the oddity of the paper. :)
Cheers
Colin
It may be flimsy paper but that's a damned strong page of art.Why is he using such thin paper now?
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Looks like very flimsy paper. Unless he's inking with markers...?

Im looking at it now, and i think this page is my new favourite. Really very happy to have This
If this means you no longer want your McMahon pages, I'd be happy to take them off your hands! ;)
wheres the pic of you holding it and lookng orgasmic?
Love both the Bolland and McMahon pages. Lovely stuff.
Gotta be the best period for 2000 art. Can't see it being beaten....
I'm really impressed with all the stuff on this thread! Real classic stuff from all the masters to present day.
I can see why you get hooked on these, they're true works of art where you actually can see the depth, lines and details - pieces of eternal enjoyment!
I picked up this Ron Smith page way back for about £30, it's the only original art I own as I've realised it's a good way to spend money fast!
(Wish I'd bought some more back then though)
Ron Smith is one of my fave-artists on Dredd, seeing the art up close makes you understand what a master he is. It's a fun page to watch too I think, a little short story on its own :)
I went to the blokes house years ago and it was very interesting :o

Ive heard from other collectors that Ian Senior had THE largest collection of Ron Smith artwork, amongst a whole treasure trove of other 2000ad art, as well. Bought a few bits from Ian over the last couple of years. A decent seller, i think.
Would be nice to read these catalogues - any chance of this being scanned and put up on here/elsewhere nicklarr?
Oh, nice to see a page i now own on one of those fotos. I didnt buy this from Ian, but the person who had it before me, obviously did!

Wow! Good to see that page in its original, I liked that :)
So what's the story on Aaagh? Is Ian Senior still selling art? Where did he get all this wonderful stuff?
Maybe I can donate the catalogue to the Cellar of Dredd and CF can put it up on the blog, that would be fun!
Nice.
I got those two Apocalypse War pages from Ian back then. He was giving away two free Ace Trucking pages with every purchase. Bought eight or nine pages from him and 16 pages of Ace Trucking for free. Mainly "The Mush Rush". Quality. Wish i had bought more now.
It's a reverse angle shot -we're looking in a mirror! ;)Ah!
Dredd being a c*nt...by Brendan McCarthy!

That's gorgeous! Did Mike put this on his blog, I seem to remember seeing it somewhere before?
Frank Quietly's take on Brendan McCarthy's City of the Damned cover.
From the Complete Judge Dredd reprints (mid 90's?)
Nice :)
I always wonder if I should put any of my artwork in frames.
Anyway, that Starborn Thing page looks legit to me but it's not that easy to judge from that pic.
Ah ...thanks for that. I wondered what the numbers were.
It's a story I really like, by an artist I really admire... her story sounded legit and I'm ok with a little page yellowing (showing age).
Do people fake these? I didn't think it was mainstream enough for people to fake them.
All these things contributed to me agreeing to pay what she wanted.
I will find out tomorrow :-\
, to make me feel better pm your purchase price ...
Gets popcorn and imagineseveryonesDales reaction.
Mmmmmmm bitter!
sorry pics later... at work at the mo.
The full story...
Saw it on eBay, contacted her for clearer pictures. She couldnt be arsed.
I asked her if it was on card or paper.. "Card"
Asked her how much she wanted for it.
Someone had low balled her an offer of £150 (you know who you are :D )
She said I could have it for £160
Offered £170 to cover recorded/signed for/insured and for it to be posted flat as she wanted to roll it up in a tube.
Jobs a good un :)

Holy fucking shit.
Does any body have the original Burger wars artwork from the cursed earth story.
Just got to wait for it to be inked, now. But looking jaw-droppingly stunning at the pencil stage.
I'm SO broke now... :-[
Very nice and I love the mouths just floating there!

There was a McMahon cover? On ebay? How did I miss that!? :o
Very nice indeed. Would love to snag a prog cover. Its my biggest box left to tick. Congrats.
Seem to remember being offered that Apoc War page by Rufus a couple of years ago. Did you get these from him?
I've been after a Dredd cover for ages and end up with two Tharg ones.
My Apocalypse War page,i asked Rufus for a page with plenty of sov judges in !
Bolland doing Dark Judges? Be still my beating heartses!
I dunno about your beating heartsies, but your ageing eyesies need testing... Bolland?
Okay, who stole the Steve Dillon 'Tyranny Rex' page that was on ebay out from under me? Come on. Own up...

Went down to the cellar (no not that one) today to clear out a few things since the last move.
Found many great and funny items and went Nostalgia De Luxe!
How about this Aaagh! original art catalogue from '97:

With regards a prog cover, keep your eye on ebay tomorrow !! i will say no more.......
my all-time favourite one-off characters, Ocks. If we ever saw him bustin' heads back on the streets of The Big Meg, I can't remember it; but I imagine he'd be like one of James Ellroy's violent bull cops.

Indeed...
Where on earth did you get those Jack?
Ocks also appeared in Shanty Town, where he lost an arm, and Gulag, where he met his end! I think he taught at the Academy in between, possibly in Silver's old chair.
These weren't featured on Artdroids were they? Does he have a secret stash? :o
I thought I saw someone say he didn't have anymore? :P
Only Apoc war page he had mind.

The gaps in my prog collection mean i cant be certain, but i think Ocks may no longer be with us, :'(
And thanks for the kind words Sauchie, glad you like the pages!
Theres some great guys on this thread, doing a sterling job for the archives. Just happy to be doing my bit.
I want that Thoth page Gruddamnit!
The sheer torment Hicklenton captures in Torquemada's eyes on that last page. Genius.
Superb Hicklenton pages - his take on Torque really emphasised the sordid nature of the character, which Pat was also increasingly hinting at (not that it was ever in doubt.) I know exactly what you mean about photos not doing them justice - I own the art for a complete episode of 'Deathbringer' and the level of fine detail is phenomenal.
Now where have I seen page 57 from?
Didn't someone from the threeA boards own that?
Can't recall. Gah!
I frame mine and hang them on the wall so I can see them! Why would you want to hide them away?
Doesn't look like he's trading on ebay no more. Bloody helll it aint half bleak on there for A1 folders ha!
A quick question for the users on this thread
Why would you want to hide them away?
Hope your slapping plenty of Sun cream on 'em first, ;)

I buy my folders from Staples - there not too dear, and are very strudy. They come in all sizes, catering for 2000ad (older) interior page to DPS sizes, but not sure if they have branches over in the Republic? Why would you want to hide them away?

This may make me the odd one out, but i do prefer Bisley's art when its presented in black n white. Nice pages!
...Bisley must have been drawing everything on A1 (like Fabry)
The Fabry page I have (from Slaine the King) is a lot smaller than A1; standard art-board size I think, about A2 at a guess. If he did earlier work on A1, I'd LOVE to see it...

KLEGG-HAIII!
Very nice. Is that a new one H? Where did you pick it up from?
KLEGG-HAIII!
That Klegg page is a corker - you don't see quality like that every day. 'Tis the stuff that dreams are made of (and revisited insurance quotes).
Meanwhile... Brendan McCarthy, Zaucer of Zilk - minus the psychedelic digital jiggery-pokery. I've got a B&W page to add later.

Lovely! what size is that?
Snagged a Prog 2 page this week...........
Those Frazer Irving pieces are just fantastic. Really nice,
Do you have any other pieces? Always nice to see more original art on here.

Deadlock by Simon Coleby
A nice vintage Colin Wilson Dredd page would be grand to have.
He's one of those 2000ad artists that hit the ground running. Just lovely stuff!
The thing I dislike about this thread is that it inspires me go out and do silly things like buy this page, which was delivered today.

The 'Into The Shadow of The Sun' books are cool too. I've got one in english, one in french, still need to pick up the other one. They'd be cool all translated in a compilation.
I'm definitely planning on tracking down the Blueberry books next year - it's bugged me for years that I've never read those.Wonderful
Colin did a Blueberry sketch for me years ago, and it's lovely...

A great page Tjm86, cant beat a bit o' Adlard. If it's anywhere near as addictive as collecting comics then I will have to tread carefully! Think I will have to settle for a few choice bits of tooth history. Gutted that the recent Ezquerra cover on ebay (prof 250 I think) went as high as it did (£1200+ ) as would dearly love a piece of that Gentleman's work!
Collecting original art is fantastic hobby, but its highly addictive though!

What's the going rate for an Ezquerra cover these days?
Would love to buy one. Haven't a clue what a reasonable offer is though!

I see Dale still hasnt answered my question, ;)
And regarding that Apoc War cover, was that the one for prog 250, or am i thinking of summat else?

Never liked the colour Nemesis pages :P
We need some sort of 'Littlewoods' system where we can buy pieces of artwork and pay over 52 weeks :P
I've been saving for the 'Nemesis and father' page for ages; I would respectfully request that no-one buy it from under me...PLEASE!
That 'contents page' from the 2000AD annual 1986 is one of my favorite O'Neill pieces of all time.
If only I had a spare few grand lying around...
Stunning Kevin O'Neill work. I'd be interested to know how much the Tube Warrior cover sold for.
Your impression of them (condition, detail etc) would be nice...
I need to take new photos for all my artwork then I might get round to putting them up on CAF.
Any suggestions on best way people have done it?
Good sweet baby jesus you cut the pescious?

If it helps (and it won't) I'm always disappointed with my photos of my artwork. I've recently fluttered my eye lashes at one of the admin ladies where I work and she is kindly scanning the smaller (A4) pieces for me and, I would suggest, that's the way to go. I'm considering investing in one of the 'wand'scanners to capture the larger pieces. Has anyone used one of those?

Nice one! Hope to see you snag that at some point. Its deffo got you Mark, this art bug!
I loved the ink wash Talbot did on that story.
It is Dice Man, isn't it! 'You Are Torquemada - The Garden of Alien Delights' or something along those lines. The art was just stunning on that, styled after Hieronymus Bosch(sp?)...
Gorgeous! I looked at buying that over on Mr. Talbot's website but Must. Stay. Focused!
Nice to see that artwork again.
Very pricy?
Gulp!! Blimey Dale, thats one heck of a catch.

Signed in pen means it was a legit sale, unsigned means it may have slipped out during the production process. He wrote about it in "The Art of Brian Bolland" book. He reckons there were about 110 pages never returned to him and he considers them stolen.
He doesn't mince his words. "All the pages that were returned to me and sold were signed by me. If you own one without my signature it was stolen and I want it back."

So are you saying that they're all stolen or that they're legitimate sales and he hasn't signed them? I've confused myself... :-[
Hope you don't think I was trolling. I've never done the forensics on CAF before, surprising how many are unsigned. One of my Bolland Dredds is signed in red, the other signed by the inker Gary Leach. I'm also confused now.
What would be useful is if someone posted a list of the missing/stolen pages so we all knew what to look out for...

There was a really nice page from Dead Man got snapped up yesterday.
It's nice when it's people on here that get things. At least then we know they are going to good homes/know where to go when you win the lottery :P
It looks like its come straight out of Shane, the running through cornfield almost being Twainesque. Bloody great page so chuffed for you.
For those keeping crowbar-antic-related score, I got the Bad Company page that was up on ebay recently too. And the 'Deathtrap Dungeon' picture. I wasn't buying much original art last year - after getting hold of my 'holy grail' page from Bad Company II, the bug stopped biting for a while, and I felt content with my lot. But just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in... there's been a lot of great stuff on ebay alone in the last month.
In the excellent book the Art of Brian Bolland (recommended reading) Brian recounts a tale from the late 70s where he went to the Daily Express office and bought some Jeff Hawke artwork from a couple of flunkies that had access to the store room where all the strip art was left. And the irony that a few years later a similar thing would be done to his art.
Get yourself a wishlist
Okay can I ask a question (Dale please look away now). I was on the verge (literally I was two button clicks away) from bidding on one of Dale's pieces over on eBay - the Paul Marshal, Tyranny Rex page BUT and here's the thing the reason I was going to go for it was I love me some John Smith and I do like Tyranny and I do like Paul Marshal BUT I'm buying it cos its piece I like and can easily afford and its there, now available to me.
Now here's the thing I've seen some of the stuff some of you fellas get and while I'm not in your league yet, I seem to be getting he bug (I was warned). I got a Dante page and not just any, one I really wanted. I missed out on the really nice Dead Man page, which was a bit special. So I'm thinking maybe I could up my game a little and start looking for a wish list of stuff, (building up to getting an Old One Eye Page before I die!) rather than just going for bits I like and can afford that turn up.
So I'm looking at the Tyranny page (its a nice page), but I'd rather pay a more for a Jim Baikie 'New Statemen' page. So I stopped myself bidding (for now Dale I do like the page) and did a search, no luck. So before I go any further, do any of you fellas know if Jim Baikie New Statesmen pages ever come up and what I might expect to pay for one? Just want to know if I'm wasting my time holding out for 'Holy Grail' pages (either availability or cost) and should go for nice next best things?
70's Jack Kirby double page spread
Thanks to Dale for holding this for me...

Should be accessible from my forum profile now.
Any help with the page numbering of the KOTW pages gratefully received as I don't have access to my copy of the GN at the mo.
Cheers,

Ming these are wish lists pages too believe it or not so its working, kinda, that Colin Wilson page is a little off yet...
I may have a grail page coming soon.... ;)
Give us a clue .......
Give us a clue .......
Steven Speilberg ripped the story off and made a smash hit film out of it, ;)
Of all Alan Moore's work Skizz is the one I'd love a page from. Great stuff. Love the choice too.
I bet you paid slightly more than 8 quid
Well, what can you say about Cam's art that hasnt already been said? But genius stuff, and he makes it all look so effortless!
Ming, or malak brood may know this story better than me, but somehow a good chunk of Cam's art ended up in the States, and then promptly went MIA.
But luckily for Cam (and us!) it all turned up again. He has a list available for what he selling, so why not drop him a line.
The story I got from Cam: "On one of my trips over to USA (1989) we were staying in Upper New York state for 6 weeks, as we had house swopped with Charlie Vess. I had taken a pile of Dredd pages with me to show and maybe sell. During this trip I met up with and befriended Walt Simenson ( Thor's artist). He insisted on giving me about 50 or 60 of his Thor comics, which he duly signed. For the trip home I had to decide whether to leave the Thors or the Dredds. Towards the end of the holiday we were staying with Rick Veitch, Tom's brother and he said that he would look after the Dredd pages. I must admit I had forgotten about them until about 4 months ago when I was talking to Rick after a long absence. Long and short I sent the postage money and he duly sent them back - it was like having children you haven't seen for years returning home!"
One of the things I find amazing is that if you look at Cam's work across any period of time, the details of his ink style can change dramatically -- sometimes it's all scratchy feathering, sometimes it's detailed cross-hatching -- and yet it's always, always unmistakeably Cam.
I'm hugely envious…!
Cheers
Jim

It's always nice to see some original Massimo surely!
I have some more from these stories - I wonder if we could have a whole episode between us!

Close, by the looks of it - hah! I especially loved that Battle of the Biffos sequence...
And do I spy some McCarthy in the background..?

No, just a couple of small somethings - typical McCarthy doodles full of weirdness and beauty. Will stick 'em in The Strangeness... thread when they land.
Meanwhile, where's that tracking number..?
Meanwhile, where's that tracking number..?
Is something being tracked? ;)
...so i guess the mysterious 'big name artist' is still in the front of the queue in regards to buying this.
And a dream comes true.
Recieved this earlier today from Mr McMahon. Its based on the episode of the Cursed Earth (prog 83) thats my favourite part of that strip.
Dredd (and Spikes) versus the Legion of the Damned.
To see the pencils, and then the inked version, in scanned form, was midblowing enough, but to actually hold the art in your hands...
Its been great to see all these commissions go up on Mick's blog (and great to see some landing for folks on here, as well) - and of course there's still a few more to come.
And after those, there's another batch due at the end of the year!

your quest for original art has reached it's apex.
your quest for original art has reached it's apex.
You may well be right.
Cheer's for all the comments, lads.
Now to watch out for those two Slaine commissions to land on here...
Mr Dayglo is selling off the original art for the entire and final Apocalypse War episode (http://www.artdroids.co.uk/featureddetail.asp?Piece=4501&Details=1&From=Room).
That is perfect. I'm not kidding; if you took a rule and a set of dividers to that page you'd see that the balance of proportions are absolutely literally perfectly in harmony with each other, and the relationship between the areas of black and white leads the eye through that composition flawlessly and effortlessly. That your commission also manages to be dynamic, dramatic, and to demonstrate a great sense of humour, is what makes Mick a genius.
McMahon seems to build up an image (at least in his head) by arranging, layering and combining simple geometric shapes into something much more complex, and if you traced over that image, marking the lines of composition and the arrangement of triangles and hyperbola which all converge on the focal point of that page, the result would look a lot like the formal perfection of cubist art.
Congratulations, Jack - that's a masterpiece.
*Sigh* I didn't win the lottery so it wasn't to be.
I did scan nearly all my artwork this morning though so when I've stitched them all together I can put them up :)
Have you tried Microsoft Image Composite Editor? Great for stitching.

Ice is brilliant isn't it :)
It's amazing how many of my pieces just wouldn't fit on an A3 scanner.
It scans straight to my work email so got to copy them tomorrow (and scan the pile of Sin City pencil pages) before I can get combining them.
Refound a few things I'd forgotten about :P
Bit more Dead Man for you - one of the three Ridgway covers (I believe Mr. Wells has the greatest of the three, but this one is significantly browner):
Brace yourselves...

oh, the burden of owning this must be weighing heavily upon you, let me lighten your burden by offering to unhook your Warlord cover
Might be a page or two more coming down the line but I really am trying to wind things down... Honest.
From the amazing Zarjazz exhibition of 2005 comes this beauty by the very kind and talented Rufus Dayglo.
Love the 'Shadows' cover.
I do wonder what he did work wise in-between times to develop the change? He worked o Sonic the Comic for a good fre years after Shadows
Oh my giddy Aunt.
The thing with Richard Elson is I can never quite get used to the change in the art from Shadows (and that Dredd cover come to that) and his present stuff. For me its a complete shift. I do wonder what he did work wise in-between times to develop the change?
Just wanted to mention that all the images* in my CAF gallery (link in my signature) are now super-sized...
Judge Jack - it's my fault that Ming upgraded so I kind of feel like I should too... :-[

Heh, I was just going to make a cryptic comment like "I upgraded so I could delete some multiple overexcited comments left due to a wobbly iPad owned by someone who shall remain nameless. In other news, Mark owes me $50" but now I don't need to...

Stunning page!!!
Ah, you have me wanting to email Cam now to see what he has for sale..!
Do it! You won't regret it...
Cam's asking prices for pages vary from insanely cheap to very, very reasonable.
There's a good few of these commissions from King Carlos landing over on CAF, of late.
Might be the closest I'd get to an Apocalypse War page :P
Without people having to say how much they pay, what sort of money is normal for a commission?

Mr. Ezquerra takes on commission work?! :o
That is extraordinary, skullmo, and absolutely confirms that years of working in colour haven't diminished Ezquerra's facility with line art - that's as fantastic as anything he was producing during his last days on Strontium Dog. I'm just amazed that Carlos has the time and the energy to do commissions as well as his published work so soon after his period of ill health. Thanks very much for posting
This was a piece he did for IDW
I know he's an exceptional example but if people can afford to be paying those prices they can certainly afford original artwork!
There are some really smashing pieces getting great scans. I love the Talbot and the Hickenton. I would love to have some Hicklenton so If anyone has any that is just making them unhappy to keep I would gladly pay them to take it to a new home! :PSuperb.
Until I can get a better scan I thought I would share this

That's a great idea! I'm sure Dale could fill it on his own!
I just fell in love with it when I saw it
I love the quality of this work, got 16 of them :)
From you a few years ago I think it was Dale!

I think tracking down the references for my more recent pages will be a job for this weekend.

Cheers Ming & Iain, was indeed very nice to tick 'Kenny Who' off the all-star-wishlist with one of my favourite pages he ever produced.
Echoed by one and all- Cams more of a diamond geezer than a 24 carat covered Ray Winstone.
Now to set my sights on the next target: a Bryan Talbot page featuring Nemesis & The ABC Warriors.
The hunt begins...

Another box ticked! :D
Another box ticked! :D
That's a seriously sweet Dredd cover youve got for yourself, Dale.
I want it!!
So, was the Dragonwotsit stuck directly onto the art? You'd have thought theyd stick it on the acetate.
Still, the glue residue doesnt diminish, at all, the loveliness of the piece.
Carlos Ezquerra has let me know that if anyone would like a commission then he is happy to see if he can accommodate them between his deadline work.

As I am sure you well know Carlos has been responsible for creating some of the most memorable characters in 2000ad as well as illustrating some amazing US series (Preacher, Bloody Mary).
If anyone is interested in getting something unique done just PM me and I can pass on his email - I don't really want to just throw his address out into a public forum.
Skullmo :P
Glorious! If that didn't put a dent in your O'Neill fund, Mark, it should have... I love it.
:)
Now what kind of crazy fool wouldnt want a commission from King Carlos?
Starting from £100, which is pretty reasonable. Of course there are other options.

Nice one, Rich. Glad you snagged summat from Cam, especially as its a page that means a big deal to you.
And yes, looking forward to seeing this, as well. The VC's featured some pretty darn brilliant art from Cam.

The Simon Jacob box has been well and truly ticked off with this Armoured brothers painted page...
Brilliant design work around the border of the page too.
How could you ever let this one go Dale??? ;)
I asked him and he said all his Rogue pages went years ago...

my first bit of original art
Cool page, David - Cam is such a master of the action sequence. Yeah, Rufus has a complete episode of 'All Hell On The Dix-I Front' for £1800 - a little steep (even for four pages) but admittedly not the steepest piece on his books given that particular story is one of the highpoints of 'Rogue Trooper'.
Carlos does draw a mean cleavage..
Isn't the more recent cover from an earlier stage in Red's career though? So she's younger in the more cleavage-y of the two. Her face certainly looks younger.
Very nice - and different from the published cover. This is quite a haul of Carlos' goodies, that you've got
I put that pocket-burning cash to good use though...just secured a package deal with Dale for some very interesting pieces (including some very obscure Paul Marshall Tyranny Rex pages that will make Greg M want to put a hit out on my worthless carcass!) ;)

I really liked that TR page too, and as I mentiond, got it from Dale at quite a discount due to the 'bleed-through' damage.

CAF is chock-a-block full with Marvel and DC crap. We need every able bodied Squaxx to post up their goodies to try and offset this. So come on Richard! ;)
Its like Thrillpower simply doesnt exist for some people, isnt it ::)\
And talking of Thrillpower, the postie tried to deliver summat today....
I have been ruined by original art!
Final TR piece from the same text story, and genuinely one of my favorite pieces.
Just frickin beautiful...
"Just a sweet Transistor"....this is a painted Kev Walker panel (clipped from a partially painted page I believe), postcard size.
Really nice though!
What do people here go for. A bit of story, or a great single image of a character or event?
What do people here go for. A bit of story, or a great single image of a character or event?
I would say that no collector could answer you straight on this one Colin!
There are so many factors to consider it can wreck your head a bit, but for me it comes down to the following:
- Nostalgia (hey, you're talkin to someone who bought a G1 Soundwave Transformer on EBay last night)
- The artist (each to their own on this)
- The 'X-Factor' (sometimes a page just has that certain something, and if you consider it cool then go for it!)
What do people here go for. A bit of story, or a great single image of a character or event?
Thinking about it, I often like pages or stories showcasing characters with a wild and distinctive design – often this translates to baddies, monsters or weird aliens, but one of 2000AD’s virtues has always been the fact that even the goodies look like baddies!
Okay so I know I'm going to have to get to my own answer in this, but I thought I'd ask the question and see how others think. Bare with me if you will.
Wake's post yesterday about Skreemer art being available sent to up to the attic to dig out my well read (and in one case signed) copies of the comic. I absolutely love it. I had genuinely been doing a search for some that very morning along with other things, while planning my next eBay fund raising sales to try to work out a target amount.
So anyway having an open field I decided to get my request for a piece in straight away, to give myself the best chance of getting the best piece and there hangs my dilemma. Unlike the Red Seas piece I reserved there's no such thing as the definitive Skreemer page for me there's so much going on in the story. Normally I don't go for a big splashy piece I go for a bit of story, or moments in that story that matter to me, or even a piece that has some representation of the elements of the story I like.
In this case I just can't find that piece (on a side note, funny how the mind plays tricks on you. Before getting the books out I had a few pages in mind quite clearly. It turned out they were composites of different pages, put together in my head to make the perfect page!). So I then turned to thinking should just go for a nice big splash or semi splash of Veto (for those that know the comics) as he dominates the thing so much... then I got stuck as it was well past my bedtime and I needed to sleep on it... so all that needless waffle leaves me with the question.
What do people here go for. A bit of story, or a great single image of a character or event?
What do people here go for. A bit of story, or a great single image of a character or event?
One other thing I'll say is that with contemporary art, I really miss the lack of dialogue - as much a part of the artwork as the brushstrokes on the page. Some things stand up perfectly well on their own without dialogue (the McCarthy Walking Dredd page I have is fantastic in this respect) but others just feel a bit flat without the chat.
What do people here go for. A bit of story, or a great single image of a character or event?

This pretty much sums it up for me too! I've been thinking on how to answer this question for about 30 minutes but, ultimately, it boils down to 'it depends'! Sometimes it's a story page, sometimes a splash or cover, sometimes a memorable panel. I have pages for all of these reasons and more...

Not recieved it yet (maybe next week?), but here's a sneaky peek taken from the prelim..WOW that looks exciting, I wonder what it could be!!(http://i.imgur.com/bgmFEmc.jpg)
(All thanks to Skullmo for getting the ball rolling, in the first place).
And while we're taunting folk; just made the final payment on this:
There's no mistaking that inking technique, Jack. I'm actually excited on your behalf, but also slightly worried that all our favourites are spending all their time cranking out commissions for you lot instead of drawing comics.
Picked up from the post office this morning! :Dwow,, what a lovely piece of work !
I would (and could) KILL for this piece of paper.

You'll have to find me first!
At least if he's ritualistically slaughtering you, I'm safe for a while. ;)
Gorgeous commission though - hope it retains its gorgeousness splattered with the inevitable gore that will result from a full-blooded Link/hippy confrontation.
Think yer safe Greg??? The War will continue til you've lost your will to live, and after years of hiding out in your bolt hole protecting that stash of art and consuming delivered pizza morning, noon & night, I intend to take you by surprise- piloting a makeshift rectangular spaceship right into your bloated head- Bad Company III style!
I'll have you know I intend to go out being stretched across an increasingly widening nine-foot chasm and then swinging lifelessly like a pendulum beneath a clock with no face.
This is going to get messy...
As the midwife here I think now is the time to reiterate, if anyone wants a Carlos commission drop me a PM :-)
Fantastic piece! You were after that one for a while, right? Must be good to get your hands on it. O'Neill is the undisputed master.
I will say this though...it's one of the most expensive pages I've ever bought, and it's something that you lot probably haven't seen before.
To be continued...
Arrived this morning! :o
In honour of the recent forum art competition, here's one of the equally recent additions to my collection:

Poor old Dogbrain.
Is there a good list of places where 2000 AD original art (classic and modern) is readily available? I've found a few caches on the internet here and there, but I wasn't sure if there are larger art dealers or lists of private sellers where interested parties would go to view available art. The answer might lie in this thread somewhere... apologies if I missed it.
Thanks!

Yes, be prepared to mortgage your house and sell your children!
My latest acquisitions (Thanks Wake!) may prove to awkward to scan properly, so a sneaky peek will have to suffice for the time being.

Ah... I love that story. Made quite an impression on me as a kid - especially that final reveal. Great stuff, Iain.

Sell your house and mortgage your children, you can live in a fort made of original art!
I'm working on getting som Patrick Goddard Savage art, but am really interested in some older pages. Perhaps some Ezquerra Dredd?
And finally managed to get a semi-decent scan's of my new pages (may have to invest in a scanner wand like Mark has. Be so much easier!)
The complete three page story is viewable - here (http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=144424)
:O Gorgeous page! well done :)
Not a story I was immediately familiar with, but some great Ewins art there Iain (as are the remaining two pages on your CAF gallery).
Superb.
Is that from 'The Rise and Fall of Ro-Jaws and Hammerstein'?
here one i should get mid week ...can you guess who ? what ? and were ..??

Dont know if you caught it o1s1n, but the tale was that Cam took a load of art with him on a trip to the States, but then had to leave behind.
Ming, or malak brood may know this story better than me, but somehow a good chunk of Cam's art ended up in the States, and then promptly went MIA.
But luckily for Cam (and us!) it all turned up again. He has a list available for what he selling, so why not drop him a line.
I 'ad that Cam Kennedy in the back of me cab once...
That was a couple of years back. I was lucky enough to get pick of the litter, hence my Warlord cover plus my favourite pages from The Big Sleep and Magnificent Obsession. Along with examples of Cam's Rogue and VCs work, I'm a very, very lucky fella.
Is that from 'The Rise and Fall of Ro-Jaws and Hammerstein'?
all i am saying its an awesome page ....only person that will get it will be Joe Soap ...

Amazing classic artwork.
Looking at that Robusters page, it brings to mind what I have thought for years – that era of letterers must have had nerves of steel to draw all those caption box and speech bubble outlines directly onto artwork.
Have to say, I love the way the pastes go translucent, get to see the artwork again! :D
(If there's anything I've learned from my Hicklenton pages is that tipex is okay!)
I will say this though...it's one of the most expensive pages I've ever bought, and it's something that you lot probably haven't seen before.
To be continued...
Interesting. Very interesting.

That's a familiar looking ship...
Got this Simon Coleby page at the London Comic Mart last month. I'm more of a convention sketch guy and this is my first original art page. I fear I'm on a slippery slope now.
"I am all these things and many more…"
This my dear Ladies & Gentlemen is my current crown jewel....Clint Langleys 'Try out' piece for the Nemesis gig way back in the early 90's. I'm a huge Nemesis fan, and I absolutely adore it.
To my knowledge it hasn't seen the light of day before (unless Dale has posted it previously).
A very big thank you to Dale who I know was very reluctant to let it go. Fortunately for him, a weak Euro means he's probably having a bath in £100 pound notes as I type.
Dibs on the Hicklenton page if it ever comes up for sale!!! (I really need it!!!)
And that's only the start of you putting up your collection? Crikey! :) Particularly love the Hicklenton Nemesis page.

You can back right off! You have more than your fair share!
I've made a start with uploading my artwork onto CAF.

Do my eyes deceive me ?? :o Dredd has no elbow pad in panel 2 yet has it elsewhere. You might want to write the man and get that missing bit of kit ;)
What prog was that?...I have a feeling it may have been added later....'in post' so to speak.

Prog 455, and no - it was still missing (or strangely reappeared in the knife-wielding panel) when printed...
I wonder was it a bit of artistic licenseI wondered about that too. If the pad were in place on that arm it would reduce the dynamic some, but then he would just increase the perspective on the arm, make the hand bigger to maintain the dynamic...so I think Cam Kennedy probably forgot to ink it in. No criticism, Dredd is a complex character to draw and I'm surprised more artists don't forget bits and pieces.
Just picked this up today. Over the moon so I am!! :D

Cor, brilliant!
The fine Mr Skullmo has sorted me out a piece of artwork that is very close to my heart, here's the clue, any guesses?

SKULLMO- I WANT THAT PAGE!!!!
Great stuff Jacob....and our friends on this thread don't even know the half of it yet! ;)
Is there going to be a rush on Mick Austin now that a source of his art has leaked?
His Anderson cover to Prog 760 is unfortunately gone already...one of my favourite covers of all time.
Would love a page of 'Crusade' at some stage...will have to take on a weekend 2nd job in Specsavers to fund it though!

You bet; and there's possible news of a group wedding to a woman from Nairobi!

I am, you've got it the wrong way round! We pooled together to buy a number of pages in order to get a discount. The money has been sent and I'm now just waiting for the revelation that we've all been scammed into marrying Eboneke from Nairobi... (It's never as funny when you have to explain)... :-\
Wow, amazing stuff! Congrats!!!
That Hicklenton Nemesis page - that has been on CAF for a while. Is that your gallery Skullmo? Or did you pick it up from that fellah?
I only ask as I see there are 6 other Hicklenton pages listed on that gallery and I've been drooling over them for as long as I can remember
I've already warned you about Hicklenton pages Mister... ;)

I think we may need to resolve this in a duel
Pistols at dawn?
Ah Skullmo, that's the HOSH9 spread I was prepared to give up some of my Halo Jones pages for but moved too slowly.
Nice haul.
I copied the Dredd panel on the right so many times as a young teen - 20+ at least.
Love Original Art when there's some serious memories attached.
Dunk!

Using my astonishing powers of deduction (i.e. putting two and two together) I say NO. :D
Which leaves the question: how the hell did you prise that loose?
Lovely page, anyway.
And a giant Brett Ewins A1 double spread obtained from the wonderful gent that is Wake.

Surely Halo's are keepers, and never to be sold

Two of those are mine Gruddamnit; Skullmo, you're an evil bastard!
Man I've been avoiding posting here until I've got something positive to add. I mean who needs to read more posts of me bleating on about now jealous I am of this, that or the other. But that cover. Man of man, I love most of Austin's covers from that period, but that one I've always thought was among the finest.
And there must be a story to how you (and Mark, and Pete) snagged these?
If you are a Finn fan you will also like this. It looks amazing, but is painted in oils on oil painting board and so is quite hard to photograph. The size is about A2.

Great stuff, Skullmo - a very nice haul o' pages. Gonna have to dig the Leviathan's Farewell story out for a re-read. One of the Winter Specials, wasnt it.

Pffffsssshhh! Turns out Dale knows nothing after all! ;)
That is unreal! Finn was always one of my favourite characters when I was a kid, something about the design. Always had me drawing him.
Painting aside, the composite of that page is beautiful, feels like he's going to leap out of the page :)
My favourite Finn image of all time is this one. Actually it surpasses Finn in that it's one of my all time favourite 2000ad covers. That is am amazing cover. I have no idea who owns that, Maybe someone on here?
I hope someone here owns it, would be something else to get a bit of a closeup gawk at the original art. Had that cover hanging on a wall for years.
It saddens me that there's so little Mick Austin artwork on CAF...thankfully that's soon to change due to your recent sleuthing ;)
Actually the one piece (that Dredd cover to Classic Judge Dredd) which Mark owns was the first Judge Dredd comic I ever bought. Almost pissed myself when I saw it on ebay

Can't wait to see scans of both!!! :):)
That's a beauty... Delightful detail on this one - congrats, M. brood!

Blimey. Pretty impressed you were still able to get the whole of Leviathan's Farewell direct from the source 25 years later.

That is something to bow before!
That is such a mad cover, I love it!
On a side note, has Carlos ever explained his 'draw little lumps/broken edged lines/square things around the edges of his artwork' technique/styalization? I've always really really liked it and wondered how it came about.

Looking forward to Getting Everything on an Even Keel, eh Ming? :D

I think he stopped doing that in the '80's... i've never seen anyone else do that in a drawing.
Mick McMahon also used the 'broken edge line' effect.
Surely Mick only used the broken line / fish-tooth effect because he was asked to mimic Carlos' style closely in the early days? He soon got out from under that and the rest is (art) history!

Absolutely :)

I love this pair of pages; no Geek action but plenty of dialogue and Cam's trademark brilliance with alien landscapes and future-tech. There's even more detail on these pages than I expected, so it's worth checking out the large scans I just uploaded on CAF.
Cam gallery on CAF is here: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=99158
Fantastic stuff CMK....'The Flaming Spear of the Sun' by Biz....I'd slit my mothers throat for it!Hi Link,
Did you buy the Revere piece from Dale?
Just where do you keep finding all this stuff? (im not expecting an answer to that question btw ;))Time travel ;)

Hey JJ! You know, its a photo taken with my Canon E450......not bad huh?
Wow! Now that is a real knockout piece, and thats no mistake. Wake certainly had some choice items up for grabs, didnt he. Any more heading the forum's way Wake?
Good to hear that things seem to be better with Brett, Wake. I'm about to re-read Skreemer for the first time since it came out; fond but rather hazy memories of it.

Would it be incredibily nosey to ask what that letter John has drawn on says? ;)
hippynumber1 the Finn covers are really nice .....well done ....
Found a grail piece ...... will post it next week ...
Lovely new pieces you have there, Hippy. I particularly like the colouring
Not as spectacular, but I'm chuffed anyway, are my Armitage pieces by (the legendary) John Cooper.

Nice tease Skullmo!
Here's mine:
I see your tease and raise you this:
The first Mongrol tease immediately made me think it was something by Buttonman but that Deadlock has forced me to reconsider. It's a little disappointing, to be honest - he's one of the modern greats.
