I’m in the can’t be pleased camp here. A little way up the thread I complained that we didn’t get the full colour reproduction of the watercolour opening page of The Fable of Venice. Well we get the colour here and it’s beautifully reproduced, but it feels like padding on a very short story. It’s a good story - Rasputin in particular is wonderful - but it doesn’t seem good value for money on a premium book such as this.

I'm enjoying it so far, but I am useless at the boss fights. As far as games of that type are concerned I enjoyed Guacamole 2 a lot more. I was just as shit at it, but it didn't take itself as seriously and there was more fun to be had as a result.

Got mine and it's great.

The deceased creator at his desk surrounded by his creations is becoming a bit of a cliche but Robinson and Teague pulled it off for Carlos in great style.

Tharg's £20 for all the specials, post paid, has been a great offer - no doubt I'd have otherwise missed one throughout the year - instead it's regular surprise time!

Hopefully this offer will be repeated each year.

I can't seem to find the creator at his desk pic in the digital version. Is that print only?

I'm sure I recall a Wagner interview in which he suggested that were Dredd to die it wouldn't be at the hand of a big villain but in an everyday stupid back-street shootout. Of course he's not dead, but if he were it'd be a good way to go.

I have not played the villains game, but the Lego Marvel one is good fun. Not groundbreaking, but solid enough and with lots of content. I picked it top in the last sale.

Old news, but I re-read In Siberia last night and it continues to be wonderful. Possibly my favourite of the longer stories.

Dante is one of my favourite things in the Prog ever. Part of the charm, however, is that it is complete. Not every story has to end in the death of the main character or even a tidy resolution. There is a definite end to the story and we have had it.

I seem to recall that we got the democracy storyline and all of the wonderfulness that followed as a result of Wagner becoming concerned that some did not see the satire in Dredd and thought him a straight action hero. Perhaps that letter will inspire further greatness.

The Secret Rose is out there. I must admit I was dubious. Dream stories, with the obvious exception of The Sandman, often leave me cold. Having read it though I am happy to say that I was completely wrong. It is thoroughly charming and some of the characters are hilarious. Although the tone is lighter than some other Corto books there is still a lot to digest, but it is handled so beautifully that it never seems like a chore. Not a typical Corto by any means, but still a cracking read.
