GIs and Dolls was obviously a reference to Guys And Dolls

Yeah I remember him mentioning 2000 AD when they had a couple of old Tennant Who episodes with commentaries - Halo Jones, Max Normal in Gridlock (although it's also reminiscent of the Terror Tube) and Bisley's Slaine for the look of the devil in The Satan Pit.
I think Gridlock may have been inspired by a couple of Future Shocks as well

The galaxy's greatest got a shout out on the latest edition of this Radio 4 show-somebody mentioned a story in an early prog featured a story with giant Tardigrades, does this ring a bell for anyone?

Dunno if this has been mentioned before but DJ1's look was obviously based on the Dr Feelgood logo

I wouldget 3rd World War if it got released anthology style

This was apparently DC Thompson's answer to the galaxy's greatest. Did anyone read it?

There seems to be a bit of retconning as to exactly how the monarchy work in Brit Cit

A Judge/Mountie hybrid uniform would be cool

Some of Planet Of The Damned in Starlord was pretty graphically violent with with someone getting kicked into a fire, someone else being burnt to death by acid rain, a woman being swept into an acid river, a woman drowning on alien fruit, etc

Didnt The Mouth of Sauron in LOTR look a lot like Judge Death?

Skizz is more an attempt to cash in on the predicted popularity of stranded-aliens-and-the-kids-who-love-them genre (one dear to Tharg's heart) that E.T. will create.  It's the same clever planning as 'let's launch a SF comic because this The Space Wars movie that's coming out in '77 means SF is going to be huge'.

Now you mention it I'm surprised the Galaxy's Greatest didn't do anything to cash in on Gremlins/Critters etc a year or so later, the old Greenbonce missed a trick there!

I'd love to see a collection of the pre DWW strips. I used to own two Dalek annuals (don't know what happened to them though), along with all the various and sundry comic outings I'm sure you could get a good couple of volumes of pre Marvel timelord action surely.

The monthly Doctor Who Classic Comics about 20 years ago did reprint some of the TV Comic and TV Action strips as well as the TV21 Dalek Chronicles
