Thanks for running the competition Colin. A fine endevour. I have to say I don't really consider Abnett 's work to be the best 'non Wagner' work the prog has done, in any sense, I am an avowed John Smith reader and would always consider his work to be at the height of what 2000AD is about and why it has always held such an attraction for me.
But the people have voted and as ever we accept the vote. Again thanks for an interesting and insightful exercise. Z

Pat Mills for the first fifteen years on 2000ad was consistently brilliant. However since then, his work has become jaded and lacks the spark which made him the icon he is.
Alan Moore tore through the 2000ad firmament like a comet through the Yucatan peninsula. Moores stories in 2000ad brought it to a level rarely seen since (thank John Smith for most that was good afterwards). Moore essentially recreated comics....Alan Moore for my vote  Z
