Thanks Darren. I should've added 'after Buscema' as my effort was based on this image from 1974. No doubt the text in my post didn't make much sense to some.

I'm was (still am) a fan of these old giant Marvel treasury editions especially the Xmas themed ones.

This was my second less involved piece. Had to put my main one on the back burner. I'm kind of running out of ideas for these advent calendars as I've been submitting at least one a year since the first one.

Would have liked to have tightened up the inks on mine but at 5am it was time to upload.

2000AD Treasury Special: Giant Hyperhero Holiday Grab-bag
A deluxe edition of 2000AD's mightiest heroes!

Thanks Funt Solo.

Great stuff everyone.

I will be along later with mine. Been under the weather over the last few days with a very bad cold so had to abandon my main piece and go for something simpler.

In the meantime if anyone has something ready and wants to double up for today, fine by me.

General / Re: Goodbye Carlos

Really upset to hear the sad news. I stood in the stairwell today at work in disbelief.

I also wish I met Carlos but I'm grateful to have had the pleasure of attending his and John Wagner's talk at the 2000AD 40th event.

I just took out my prog 1 to see the preview image of Dredd. TBH I'm not sure if Carlos drew that but as we all know, the design is his. It grabbed my attention 41 years ago… and all these years on it hasn't let go. Not only was Carlos one of the best comic artists in the history of the medium – when it came to character design, he was a genius.

I was just reading his first full colour prog strip in the Case Files a few days ago.

For those not interested in comics it might be difficult to understand the impact some of these creators have on our lives.

My condolences to his family and friends.

NAZIS: Kill all the jews.  Put them in gas chambers with the queers.
MODERATES: It's the SJWs intransigence I'm most angry at.

And just so we're all on the page - while the reference to Nazism dates all this to the 1940s, there are assaults on jews, muslims, women, transgender happening across the world to this day (I've seen more recent headlines, but typically the most recent I could find on a quick search of BBC News just now was damage to a Jewish cemetery last year and the usual attacks on transgender people).
And not just Jews and Muslims. Christians have been under attack in many Middle Eastern and even southeastern European countries/regions.

…the Youtube algorithm still decided to stuff the recommendations column with Diversity And Comics* videos - Youtube is deliberately creating a hostile atmosphere in the discussion just like they deliberately engineered comments sections full of unashamed racists to encourage repeat pageviews and higher advertising rates.
There have always been entitled fans, but we're at the first point in history where their man-baby antics can be successfully monetized, and this is why we're seeing more of them, not because they've somehow successfully organised and become a social movement.  See also: Twitter and Nazis.

* presumably named after the two things the presenters hate most.

Youtube algorithms that are perhaps affected by D&C having 56k+ subscribers?

Many won't like his terminology, but from what I gather, he doesn't hate comics or diversity, he hates comics that he considers to be poorly written that don't sell and that he argues have resulted in comic stores closing down. His daughter is Muslim so I doubt he hates diversity.

(No comment from me on The Last Jedi as I haven't seen it. In fact, today is the last day it's showing at my not so local cinema.)
