General / Defoe
13 May, 2023, 01:25:04 AM
Hi all!

I'm way out of the loop, having moved from England to the US...sheesh around 10 years ago now.

Defoe was my favorite strip when I left (after the Queen of the Damned arc).

Does anyone know if there are plans for any more Defoe collections? Is the story finished, or still ongoing?

Anyway, hello to all my old mates. I hope you're doing well and keeping safe through these crazy times.

Hi all! Does anyone happen to have a spare copy of Something Wicked issue 7, published by FutureQuake Press? I had a strip published in it, but sadly lost my copy in my move from England to the US. I have no idea what it's worth, but if you have one to spare, pleas PM me to work something out!

Thanks so much!

Announcements / Re: Dave Evans, R.I.P.

Man, this hits me hard.

Dave was a big part of my life in that he encouraged me to write and submit scripts to him. He published my first few scripts - only after rejecting several and giving loads of tips and advice from everything to formatting to short script story structure. He agreed happily to letter one of my projects, and was like a father to all of us involved - always offering advice and encouragement.

But most of all, he was a great friend.

Although we only met three times, we emailed a lot. Dave helped me work through a serious bout of depression. I'm sure he didn't want to be my counselor, but he emailed me so much encouragement to get through things. I mostly fell out of touch with him when I moved from England to the US, and I really regret that. I love and miss ya, Bolt.

To all of my old friends here - I miss all of you as well. Take care, all.

They started out as a kind of metalcore or screamo-ish band, but then evolved or devolved (depending on how you feel about the genres) into a sort of GnR/Maiden/Metallica worship-type band. Musically they're talented, but the vocalist is just an atrocious singer.

Faith No More is my favorite band of all time, btw! Awesome to see other fans.

Shark's post is a common internet argument tactic:

"He proved me wrong, so instead of accepting that I'll vilify him."

It goes like this: two people argue, one person wins the argument, the other person makes a crazy leap like "YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST!"

Later, others skimming the conversation key in on the very short and to the point (if crazy) accusation and that becomes real - Shark looks good (and therefore must be right) because Modern Panther doesn't care about certain atrocities.

Hi Dan! How are you?!

Yeah...there have been a few things going on here. It's been...something else.

Is the new Bloodbowl good?

It is. I'm not sure when the last time you played is, but the version GW just released is not much different from the last edition of The Living Rulebook that's been developed online for many years. I've been playing in a BB league for quite some time and we've continued without a hitch. The rules are online for free.

I love the game. It's a top five board game for me - in league play.

Stand alone is plenty fun, but in league play you develop your team and players which adds so much more to the experience.

My god, I sign into this forum for the first time in two years and people are actually still trying to talk sense into Shark! I'd say it's like I'd never left, but Shark is two years more delusional.

Yeah, the weirdest thing about putting the comic together is that Stephen isn't involved!

Tough news, Van Dom, but glad to see you round these parts again.

amines2058, I got in touch with you on Facebook.

Creative Common / Stephen Prestwood Tribute Comic.
06 June, 2016, 07:20:14 AM
Hello, everyone. I know it's been a long time since I've been on the forum.

As you probably know, small press artist Stephen Prestwood recently passed away. At the time he was drawing a two-issue mini-series of my small press comic, El Bigote. He was two pages short of finishing the first issue.

As a tribute to Stephen, I'm looking for artists to pick up a page each and finish the issue (sort of like the art blog Conor Boyle, Emperor, and others put together years ago). So far, SKD, El Chivo, Conor Boyle, Owen Watts, Graham Pierce, Dunk!, Darren Stephens, Neil Mc, Chris Askham, Bhuna, Davey Candlish, and Tony Rothwell are confirmed with others interested in helping. I could use the help of a few more artists.

Please message me if you would like to be involved - even if you'd only like to contribute thoughts or memories of Stephen, which I'll publish on the comic's editorial page.

You can see the Facebook page set up for the project here: https://www.facebook.com/Stephen-Prestwood-El-Bigote-Page-1070430089705207/ and more references on the El Bigote page here: https://www.facebook.com/elbigotecomic/.

Farewell, Stephen.

Stephen was a really neat person, very friendly, very positive. He encouraged me to keep self-publishing every time we talked. Quite a shock when I heard this news. He will be missed.

It was an okay read until she busted out with the "white privilege" stuff. After that I caught onto what I felt was her agenda.

Hey, do you think it's just a pity he relies on idiocy himself?

If I worshipped the Volcano God I'd pray to Him to command His cult to throw this thread in the lava.
A) Where do I sign up.
B) Do you have complementary mugs?

Volcano mugs will be fun. They can get all fizzy at the top.

Yes, we'll have complimentary mugs.
