Creative Common / Writers wanted for a bit of an experiment...
« on: 03 November, 2015, 11:34:28 AM »
Hi, I've got four pages of a story that I started but never really got around to finishing. I'm now moving on to other projects and was thinking that I would try and put the pages to use somehow.

I'm after someone to 'remix' the pages here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=ms.c.eJw9ytsJACAMA8CNpPaRpPsvplD08~_AIVXkwnDu0F8fqDlniG7C84xnjOp8oDPA~-.bps.a.768552356604716.1073741838.409062032553752&type=3 and see if they can come up with some kind of coherent story using the artwork.

Feel free to repeat panels, change the order... whatever. If you think you can come up with a decent story using the pages then email me the script at danielbellcomics @ gmail.com and I'll letter and submit them to a few anthologies that I know of. I'm not looking to pay or get paid, just thought it would be kind of interesting to see what other people could come up with.
 Cheers

Books & Comics / Defiant! New Viking Epic from Time Bomb Comics
« on: 15 April, 2015, 04:50:33 PM »
My new comic, Defiant is being launched a The Comics Festival, Birmingham this weekend. I can’t make it there myself but Andy Winter will be there to sign copies and chat. Here’s what it’s all about:

On August 10, 991AD, a fleet of 93 Viking longships containing 3,000 men sailed up the River Pant in Essex to the fortified town of Maldon. Led by the king of Denmark himself – Sweyn Forkbeard – the Norsemen aimed to ransack the town, kill as many of its inhabitants as they could and, most importantly, raid the Royal Mint stationed there.

Brithnoth, an old soldier who was also the Earl of Essex and one of the most powerful men in England, assembled a small army and prepared to stand defiant against the coming onslaught. His deeds that day would be immortalised in a famous poem – The Battle of Maldon – and continue to cause furious debate more than a thousand years later…

Defiant: The Legend of Brithnoth is a hard-hitting, 90 page full colour historical adventure from writer Andy Winter (Hero Killers), artist Daniel Bell (Psircus) and colourist Aljosa Tomic (Veil).

If you can’t make it to Birmingham this weekend, you can also buy it over on my Comicsy page http://www.comicsy.co.uk/danielbellcomics/ where, for a limited time only,  it’ll be on sale at the convention special of £12 (normally £14.99).

Check out the Facebook Page for more details and previews of the art: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Defiant-The-Legend-of-Brithnoth/1603308483238283?fref=ts

Classifieds / Lenovo LT1423P: Great Budget Alternative to a Cintiq!
« on: 06 December, 2014, 06:21:44 PM »
I'm selling on account of having been offered a second hand Cintiq as an incredible price I couldn't turn down.

The Lenovo is actually a duel touch monitor (responds to touch and a stylus) but has Wacom digitiser technology and is a great, affordable alternative to a Cintiq. Included in the sale is a Bamboo Feel Stylus as the original stylus is useless for drawing.

Creative Common / Another Alternative to a Cintiq?
« on: 18 June, 2014, 11:33:44 AM »
Anyone had any experience or knows anything about these:

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/60ACUAR2US/460/2D2E6910F1B64671956D698D3C85F912

Pretty much half the price of a Cintiq 13HD, they basically look like touchscreen monitors with a pressure sensitive pen that runs on Wacom tech. Looking at some reviews on line it seems they have a few problems with drivers but I was really wondering if anyone know if they’re a good alternative to a Cintiq or good for drawing comics?

Thoughts?

Creative Common / Looking for artist for British Comic showcase
« on: 07 December, 2012, 10:03:32 PM »
Hey, I’m looking for an artist to collaborate on a 7 page story for ‘The British Comic Showcase’, an anthology being put together by Adam Cheal. As I understand it, the book will be put out through Markosia early next year.
I’m looking for some one to draw a story of mine called ‘My Father’s Hand’. Here’s a brief description of the story, minus the reveal:
Synopsis:

'Before I was born my dad lost his hand in a motorcycle accident. At least that's what he told me. I was never too sure...'

Barry has just lost his father to a sudden heart attack. As he sits at the funeral he is plagued by thoughts of a mysterious box he father told him contained his father’s missing hand. Throughout his childhood the box was always part of Barry's life. First he feared it for what it might contain and then when he was caught trying to look inside, he became fixated on it.

At the funeral Barry is determined to discover the truth about the hand and the box. Barry questions his mother and his father’s old friends and discovers that for every person Barry's father knew there was a different story, each one more absurd than the next.

Barry talks to the one person who will absolutely know the truth. His aunt. Cutting through all the nonsense and bravado, all the stories and half truths, Barry finally learns the truth.

The deadline is, I believe, end of January.
I can’t guarantee anything but if you’re interested then reply here or email me at danielbellcomics@gmail.com

Classifieds / Kick Ass Guitar on eBay
« on: 15 September, 2012, 10:15:56 PM »
I'm selling one of my guitars due to lack of storage space and a lack of a band to play in.

It's an Epiphone E-series Pierced SG:

This is an awesome looking limited edition guitar with ‘distressed finish’ and weird ‘X’ hole in the body. It has been gigged with but still in excellent condition as it’s not my main gigging guitar. Plays nice and has an excellent sound.

Here's the eBay link:

Creative Common / Looking for an artist for 13 page horror story
« on: 30 August, 2012, 06:41:42 PM »
Hi, I’m looking for an artist for a 13 page horror about an historian who discovers a long lost legend and a carving of a Goddess in a tree. She’s warned however, that the carving is not what it appears to be and has to fight for her life to prevent the coming of the ageless Goddess.

I know 13 pages is a lot to ask but I really like this script and want to see it drawn. I’ve a shit load of work on at the moment or I would do it myself. Also, it’s sometimes nice to see what other people do with your scripts.

The plan is to collect it with a few other stories and publish it as part of an anthology. Either that or pitch it around to anyone who accepts submission of that length.

As far as art styles go, I'm pretty much open to anything...

If you’re interested then PM me or email danielbellcomics@gmail.com

Creative Common / Dredd sequentials but not quite a sample script
« on: 11 June, 2011, 01:04:48 PM »
Back before Kapow! I though I'd go and hunt down Tharg and show him my portfolio but realised I had nothing to do with 2000AD in it. I drew these over two weeks after work. Matt was quite nice about it considering it was completely rushed and I kinda made up the references for the Judges as I went along.

Anyway, here they are. Some panels are terrible and I'm a little embarrassed by them but I'm happy with most of them I guess.

Creative Common / Looking for an artist for a pitch
« on: 16 May, 2011, 08:27:13 PM »
Hi, I'm hoping to find someone to collaborate with for a pitch. If you don't know the DFC was a short lived childrens comic which aimed at the 8-12 age range, stories that were engaging and clever but with relevant themes.

They're relaunching as 'The Phoenix' and I'm looking to pitch an episodic story called 'The Well'. I'm currently in the middle of another project so I'm looking for someone to take over art duties for about 5-10 pages (preferably colouring too but I know a few people).

Here's some of the concept stuff I've done so far and a brief synopsis. I think it'd be a fun draw.

Matt is caught off guard when his older friend Shelly tries to kiss him in the woods one day. Embarrassed and lost, Matt tries to run back but encounters a pack small carved shield monsters who chase him frantically. He is rescued by an armless tribe who explain the shield monsters are under the control of the horrific Captain, the monster that stole their arms and lives down a well sat atop a huge monolith. With nowhere else to go Matt finds himself a slave to the armless tribe and is forced in to confronting the Captain. To do this Matt must face the army of shield monsters, breach the monolith and enter the mysterious realm down The Well…

Who is this mysterious Captain and what is his link to Matt? What lies down the well and what is the Captain doing so many arms down there?

Combining aspects of fantasy and fairytale with a grimm reality, The Well is a story of lost innocence, sacrifice and responsibility. Matt must leave behind his childhood and face the biggest challenge of his young life.
