Announcements / Re: Judge Dredd Uprising - immersive experience

It'll be lockdown part Deux! I can't wait to face queuing, masked unhappy people and rioters plus Judges beating me for breathing too loudly. Lockdown fever here I come! No, it sounds terrific with a sort of Crystal Maze vibe to the show.

Miserable news about Ian Holm, his final speech to the surviving crew of the Nostromo in Alien, is one of my favourite scenes from Cinema. His Bilbo Baggins in LOTR was brilliant casting and superb performance as well.

Here's the link to the Down The Tubes animation. Looks very Cyberpunk if a little stilted movement-wise, but a very impressive bike and an excellent render of the infamous Judge. The music is a little too distracting for me.

Wretched news about Denny O'Neil, who's work on Batman will entertain generations to come. His sad passing at this grim time seems to sum up the dire straits the Comic book industry is in at the moment.

Both Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper are a result of genetic manipulation, rather than natural selection. Built for specific tasks, Law Enforcement, Warfare, they had the traits that helped them survive in their various environments. Like ourselves, they did not choose their inheritance; it was bestowed upon them by scientists, as we had our genes given to us by our parents. Though these are fictional characters at some point humans will be able to manipulate the genetics of their offspring. So the hard question is, should we do so? If we can make everyone equally healthy, eliminating physical disability, say as a human trait is that not for the greater good? Or is that the grim trap, that an arms race of genetic traits driven by social desires makes us very alike in the end, destroying the diversity of humans by the very thing we hoped would make us more 'equal.'

Here's Frank Spotnitz talking [rather too quietly] about his plans for a W40K TV show. Audio quality is not the best. https://youtu.be/6XPzMr_Mia0

Here's the blurb. A new Star Trek TV series with Science Officer Spock, Captain Pike and Number One aboard the USS Enterprise I do believe.

I doubt the shops and supermarkets will restrict their social distancing and numbers allowed entry rules, so queueing will still be the norm for a while. Schools and Libraries are unlikely to reopen, but maybe you can go out for a walk a little more than once a day.

Got the Poster Prog recently as I 'm a new Subscriber but today, in pure Future Shock style, not one-BUT THREE Progs turned up at once. I had to restrain myself to reading two and leaving the third for later, less my thrill factor overload. Though I 'll miss my weekly outings to the newsagents [so long ago], I've got 2000AD to look forward to every week instead. The first Prog Cover art I recieved as a subscriber was by P J Holden who had drawn a lone monkey on a Phone or Telly Mast. It said a lot about these isolated times, but with my weekly sub of thrill-power to look forward too, I just might make it out of this mess the unhinged side of sanity.

Congrats on your epic achievement Funt. On a slightly less happy note, somebody on Facebook was offering to do quick sketches of any 'fandom.' When I sent a Judge Dredd request, he admitted he had no idea who that character was, neither the film nor comic versions. Perhaps I should have asked for Sonic the Hedgehog instead.
