Film & TV / Re: Deathtrap Dungeon movie?
29 June, 2011, 09:25:25 PM
@Vuzzbux-

At the moment it is a stright forward movie - like anything you see in the cinema. But when it gets to DVD/Blue ray I hope there will be about 4 alternate endings, which will cover the last 15 mins of the movie or so, But it's still a while away for even pre-production and anything can happen.

We considered making two films - following two different adventurers through the dungeon, and you could chose who you followed and flip between then, but the problem is you have to shoot twice as much footage and thus your budget skyrockets.

Glad you are all interested in the Deathtrap Dungeon movie - I wrote the screenplay!

I met Ian Livingstone a few years ago, and suggested that Warlock of Firetop Mountain would make a great movie, but he said Deathtrap Dungeon was his favourite and I should write that.

So I did. I took two years, and Ian L was quite heavily involved, we finally got a script we were happy with - that combines Deathtrap and Trail of the Champions as well, as they were both set in the Dungeon,  (a fighting fantasy book isn't actually that long, when you write it out properly), and took it to a few production companies until Mark Holdom got it, read it, liked it, and did an option.

I've tried very hard to make it faithful to the books and interesting to the fans, I love the books, so really want it to be very cool and a success, hoepfully they will get a decent director in who has a clue.

I just finished directing my feature film DEATH - which has a cameo from Ian Livingstone (playing Derek the postman) and the illustrations for the animation were done by Russ Nicholson.

Hopefully if DEATH or Deathtrap Dungeon are a success then Rebellion might let me do the Bad Company movie, that I wrote the screenplay for back in 2008! It's all there sitting in the hard drive waiting for them to let me do something with the rights. Maybe if Dredd is a success then something will happen with lots of 2000AD related stories.

Check out the trailer for DEATH here - http://vimeo.com/22618055

and a bit about the Deathtrap Dungeon screenplay here - http://www.martingooch.com/screenwriting.html

Hi -

They loved the BAD COMPANY screenplay and we spoke of doing things with it - sending it off to Hollywood, Sony, WB, etc, but nothing ever happened. I am still trying, but there is clearly a reticence to invest in development of screenplays.

I cannot understand why there are not more 2000AD related stories out there as screenplays, some would be expensive obviously, but there are many 2000AD stories that would not be that expensive - Button Man, Summer Magi, Savage  - or even Strontium Dog TV Series like X-Files/Doctor Who/SPOOKS. Would be brilliant.

One day...

Hi  - I'm a long term 2000AD reader and have graced the pages of input about 5 times since 1989! Prolific or what!?

I know we're all very excited about DREDD but I'm directing my first feature film in Jan entitled DEATH (not Judge). It's right up 2000AD's alley. I hope you will enjoy it -Please have a look at the promo on my website - martingooch.com.

If anyone would like to help me make this - I would appreciate it! There is still a lot to be done.

I've had references to 2000AD in my other short films (See Arthur's Amazing Things) and hope to have a few in this epic.

Funnily enough my first proper job in the film industry was on the First Judge Dredd - I worked in the Visual effects unit. Since then I've worked on 13 features in the camera department, and written 14! So hopefully I know what I'm doing.

I also write the screenplay to for a BAD COMPANY film, Rebellion have it, but don't seem to want to do anything with it. Maybe if DREDD is a success?

Website and Forum / Re: CELEB AD!

I had to add...

I had no idea I'd had so many letters in 2000Ad - how gracious is Tharg.

Yeah - some of the actors in Hollyoaks DO read the Galaxy's Greatest - I was hoping Tharg would put the picture in the mag but clearly not - shame! Especially as one of the pics had me in it. Regardless of what you think of the actual show - it's a very nice place to work.

I did write the Underground workers strip and I urge all loyal squaxxers to go visit my website martingooch.com

Hopefully someone will let me write something else soon...

If you look at my short film Arthur's Amazing Things you will see several  2000AD product placements...

Ta ta for now.

Yes, I was somewhat disappointed about the whole 'spare body scenario' thats a real get out clause.

Yes I think they should bugger off from mars and just go and shoot stuff for a while. Leave the whole psychic deadlock/nemisis malarky for a bit and go off and blow stuff up.

Personally I think Blackblood is well overdue a story of his own.

What about a mini series where we explore the warriors 'down time'?

If Hammerstein and co were in the war BEFORE the judges and survived all the way to the society of Termite that appears on earth thousands of years after the judges are long gone, how can they still be the best robots?

Hasn't anyone designed an upgrade?

Don't they get metal fatigue?

Film & TV / Film maker, looking for concept artist.
12 February, 2005, 05:36:23 AM
Hi There.

I am a long time 200ad reader and a film maker, I am currently getting a Production dossier together for a new Comedy/Horror Feature film. I need some good illustrators to help design the creatures in the film and illustrate the Dossier.

There is NO PAY for this I am afraid, but anyone who ends up with an illustration in the PD, will get a job on the Movie.
It is a Low Budget movie, but then all British Horrors seem to be Low budget.

Some of you must be able to draw!

Let me know your thoughts!

Cheers
