"Flashbacks to former thrills well handled."

You must be joking. Everyone of them was wrong, so wrong it looked as if Ennis hadn't even read any of the old stories. He blames Dredd for killing Giant and Dekker for goodness' sake!

Oops... that should say "better than Dredd."

When Kraken walks into a hostage situation unarmed and wearing handcuffs, and the democrats take him prisoner, and all the other judges outside think that's it, he's had it...

"Dumb move!"
"What the hell was he playing at?"
"Hey Dredd! That's one rookie you can scratch!"

... then Kraken disarms one of them, shoots all of the terrorists and saves all the hostages single-handed, and all the judges rush in expecting the worst and find him just standing there - still in cuffs - with smoke coming out of his gun, and blood-spattered hostages wide-eyed in shock, and he gets a round of applause when he walks out.

"First time Dredd had ever seen that ... twenty-year men forgetting themselves. Like they'd been watching Houdini."

There is a full page picture in superb detail by Will Simpson, with Kraken blazing away, and four insets showing each terrorist being blown away. One of the best moments ever. I was quite young when I read it and I was just really impressed that he turned the tables on the bad guys against such odds, ehen everyone else had given up on him... and the at the end of the episode they say he could even be letter that Dredd.

--------------------

Also, from Alien Wedding... "I want to be eaten from the inside!" Hilarious.

--------------------

(Incidentally, Dredd repeatedly ran over Grice with his lawmaster and squashed him, hence the line.)

That didn't stop Ving Rhames playing the Kingpin in Daredevil.

My favourite robots: There was some Dave Stone story where someone was infected with nano-bots which self-replicated and then ate him from the inside. Nice.

Come on, the Metro Dredd strips are bloody awful. No wonder people criticise Dredd if this is their only exposure to it. If you had never, ever read a Dredd story and then you read Metro would you want to pick up 2000 AD? I think not.

"Think it could have done with a longer run though."

No, it could have done with a much shorter run. One episode ideally, about the length of Droid Life.

The rebuilding of MC2 was a completely stupid idea which was quietly dropped in embarrassment by the new editor who had the good sense to realise it was totally ridiculous and implausible to suggest that you could build a whole mega-city from scratch in about 5 years. I think this was mentioned in some interview or feature or something that appeared in the Megazine a couple of years ago. It was actually part of a build-up to some planned 26-episode mega-epic by Mark Morrison that was cancelled, thank god.

Why was Ant Wars ever chosen for a reprint? It was one of the worst most formulaic stories of all time, it even made the "Worst 16 Thrills" feature in the 16th summer special... Reprinting crap like this instead of the loads of top quality stuff in the archives will just kill the Extreme series.

0. Angel
1. Kid Cyborg
2. Dry Run
3. Grudgefather

Big Dave should stay off the list purely for the bit when he throws up into the baby's pram.

"Really And Truly had gorgeous Ryan Hughes art, was a thrill a minute fun-ride and featured a character called Scuba Trooper who had a goatee and talked beat talk."

Those are all reasons why it was a pile of crap. Rian Hughes art looks like a 4-year-old child drew it. Bugger all happened, and the Scuba Pooper talked bollocks.

I nominate Angel for the bottom 10.

Has anyone mentioned Below/Beyond/Night Zero yet? That was a completely boring waste of time similar to Junker.

Rose O'Rion. Some one-offs spawned brilliant, popular, enduring classics, eg. Nemesis, DR & Quinch, Abelard Snazz, Bradley etc... RO'R took a promising character from a couple of entertaining tales and turned her into a mediocre pile of tat. Even if the story itself wasn't as bad as some of the others on this thread it deserves extra contempt for diminishing a popular character whose return was actually REQUESTED by readers into one we were pleased tro see the back of.

However I actually like Tales of Telguuth. There are some weak ones here and there but I basically like how they were all about people double-crossing and scheming against each other and then meeting some horribly sadistic and unpleasant death (except that guy who was made immortal and then had his arms and legs cut off, bricked up behind a wall and driven insane for ever). Telguuth rules!

And bugger what everyone else thinks about Garth Ennis, I liked Time Flies too (both of them). And Helter Skelter. And in my spare time I like to club seals, and then sodomise them. (I shall let you be the judge which of the above confessions is the worst.)

All of the above are correct.

Dave, why do you want to know? Is this for some upcoming novel or feature?
