Film & TV / Grindhouse no longer a Grindhouse

Yeah, they're cutting it into two films for it's UK/Ireland release, with Death Proof out in September and no release date for Planet Terror, but the rumour is that it won't even get a cinema release but will go straight to DVD. Either way though, I'm pissed, I was looking forward to the big cheesy double bill, now it's just two b-movies released months apart, for twice the price. Personally, I'm no longer planning on going to either of them. We've been screwed.

Prog / The Beast Of Rudinshtein
20 April, 2007, 11:32:56 AM
Yay, Viktor's not dead!!!

I always had my doubts, cos seriously, what would be the point of throwing a bird-man out of a window, but then they did show that shot of him lying, apparently, dead in the snow. I guess he wasn't....

Prog / Hellfire ending......
05 April, 2007, 10:20:13 AM
Loved it, loving this whole new "Sword of the Tsar" arc for Dante, (apart from the crap Amazon women story), after the years of pirate stories, we're finally getting back to dealing the aftermath of the war.

As for the ending of Hellfire, two things are sticking in my head:
1: Anyone else think Dante didn't really kill Lulu? There was all his talk in previous episodes of "Trust me", and then when he stabs her, she seems to remember this. We've seen that Romanovs can survive a mere stab wound, and he maybe intentionally didn't want the Tsar to have the body, because there is no body.

2: That look on Dante's face in the last panel; He recognised Konstantin, methinks.

Anyone....

Games / Any sign of a Rogue Trooper PC Demo?

Any news of this by any chance? The game looks cool, but I'd like to see if my computer can handle it first.

Film & TV / First proper look at Ghost Rider
20 December, 2005, 11:16:40 PM
They've just put up a 10-second clip on the official site that has the first finished CGI shots of GR. It's looking pretty cool.

The trailer's not up yet, it's due sometime today, but here are the first official picture from the film, including Beast and Angel. Is there hope after all?

General / Red Seas Underworld: Too Slow?
02 December, 2005, 08:10:04 PM
Does anyone else reckon Underworld is taking ages to get going? I loved the first two Red Seas stories, but with them, within the first couple of episodes, important storylines had been laid down, and the crew was actually going somewhere. Here, we're eight eps in, and to me anyway, it doesn't feel like much has happened. Okay, we've found out about Jack's dad and brother, some lizard guys have appeared, but it wasn't until last week's episode that they actually got on a ship and went anywhere.

Film & TV / Mercy Point/Heights
11 November, 2005, 04:51:50 AM
I don't know why this popped into my head recently, but I was just curious, did anyone ever actually see Mercy Point? If you don't know, it was a very briefly run tv show about a space station/hospital, that sounded a hell of a lot like 2000ad's Mercy Heights, but I never got the chance to see it, so just wondering if anyone else did. And if so, was it any good?

General / Anyone else remember OUTLAW?
25 October, 2005, 07:01:31 AM
Another of my favourites from ages ago, but one that ended on a dirty big cliffhanger, with no apparent intentions ever to resolve it. It's a crying shame.

General / When is the REAL Nikolai Dante coming back?
24 October, 2005, 07:07:37 AM
Dante was always one of my favourite characters, and stories, from his introduction, right through to the whole war arc, I though the entire thing was fantastic. And then in the closing chapters of the war, we get these tantalising glimpses that something kick-ass is still to come, (Konstantin is still alive, and has switched sides, Dmitri's weapons crest disappears, Arkady might have it, and he's very close to the Tsar now, Lulu's still out there somewhere...) But since then, there's been barely anything, apart from a brief appearance by Lulu. Dante has regressed in a few stories to the "lovable rogue" he was when we first met him, and it just seems as if the writers have forgotten about all these elements they put in place, going for some pretty dull stories instead. And they've got to bring back Simon Fraser.

Prog / Quick Burned Out Question....
24 October, 2005, 06:48:39 AM
As much as I love 2000AD, I don't buy the Megazine, and I hate it when crossovers happen, (which, to be fair, haven't happened in a while), so any chance someone could tell me how Burned Out wrapped up? Is Guthrie alive or dead at the end.....
