At least Vanguard had an ending.

Did it?

Vanguard was designed to the same template that gave us the wildly successful Nicolai Dante.

Trust me, it was originally intended to run for multiple series.

Help! / Re: Lawgiver ammunition types

The inside scoop from the Secret Dredd Writers' Club:

Every Lawgiver round incorporates all the special round features.  The default setting is Standard, but selecting a specific round type activates that mode in the next bullet to be fired.

Lawgiver rounds are probably really expensive to make...

This is not a massive open-world game with a narrative that lasts for 100 hours, so it's pretty unfair to compare it with games that plays in another league. You substantially reduce the expenses and find a publisher with enough capital and confidence in your concept. Genuine ambition, compromises and a great idea can realize a lot.

I’d love to see a really good Dredd-world game but I don’t think the big open-world thing is ever going to happen.

It can definitely be done if the concept is good enough and you can gather the right people behind it.

So you’ll forgive us if we thought that you were indeed talking about a giant, open-world Dredd game, since....y’know, that’s what you said could definitely be done.

I’ve worked on a couple of dozen games, big and small, and i respectfully disagree with your take on what is and isn’t possible in mainstream game production.

GTA5 cost over $200 million.

Remember that, anytime you see another well-meaning “You could do an open-world Dredd game, just like GTA!” post.

They may just have drawn a line under it after dealing with Rebellion.

Hmm.  Surely the problem was that they didn’t deal with Rebellion, at least to begin with?

I’m no filmmaker, but making your short film based on someone else’s property, entering it into a film festival and putting a trailer for it online, all without informing the IP owner of its existence or putting their copyright notice on it doesn’t strike me as the most professional or clued-up way to go about things.

The local election results are in: Labour have had their best performance in nearly half a century

I keep seeing this Owen Jones factoid quoted, without the (slightly less impressive) other half of it being mentioned - ...in terms of their share of the vote specifically in London.

However - as with the rest of England - they finished the night in control of the same number of councils in the capital that they had when they started.  Does that really sound like a half century’s worth of achievement against a shambles of a government that’s just suffered a major Cabinet resignation?

Whatever happens in the furture I think we need some sort of link to a higher authority / Earth government (be it SHIELD or whoever). Seems with Sam Jackson also at end of contract it has to be either Hawkeye, Black Widow, Rhodey, Sam Wilson or Captain Marvel.

I think the clue there might have been the Captain Marvel star emblem on the device’s screen...

Although Hawkeye - aka The Most Useless Avenger - would certainly be the guy to call in to save half the universe.

i don't think moores gonna give a crap about dr and quinch since he hated it.

"Hate" is too strong a word; he has said he enjoyed writing but recognised it was "socially irresponsible".

...and that it was a shameless lift from the National Lampoon characters OC & Stiggs.

This has probably been discussed elsewhere but was there a specific reason it had such a long gestation period?

Pat says it should be six weeks. Always six weeks.

Then ask him how the Joe Pineapples strip is coming along.

When I compare the monthly cost for a joint subscription to the amount of content I get from Netflix in a month, it's not pretty.

I bought a book last week.  It cost me slightly more than a monthly Netflix subscription, and yet only took a few days to read.

Come to think of it, I paid about a tenner to see Black Panther the other day, and yet only got about two hours of entertainment out of it.

Clearly, publishers, cinema chains and movie studios are cheating me bigtime, and all entertainment media should be based on the yardstick of £5.99 for pretty much unlimited content.

Get some decent crime writers to write procedural Judge stories.

Like crime novelist Duane Swierczynski, who wrote the first couple of years of the IDW Dredd comics, you mean?

All the ongoing Titan Who books have been wound down, ending pretty much now.  The whole line is being rejigged and relaunched later this year, with the new 13th Doc book at the centre of the relaunch.

Whilst I'm all for the empowerment of women in society...

This is right up there with your previous schtick of “while I’ve no problem with gay people....I’m just going to object to any and every positive depiction of them in my favourite genre media.”

You’re a disengenious coward, with neither the guts nor the honesty to say what you really mean.

Another victory in the hard left vegan Leninist cucktard sharia law SJW cultural Marxist purge of the straight white male from all creative media.  Next they'll be hunting us like dogs and we won't be safe in our own homes.

This! it's becoming the norm to bash white straight males, especially in the world of show biz, it's a bit unnerving. Watching James Cordon hosting the grammys was beyond cringy "tonight we have the most diverse lineup, and me... the least diverse host in the history of the grammys", and that's just the tip of the ice berg. I have absolutely no problem with diversity, I couldn't give a shit who writes the prog, but obsessing about diversity instead of focusing on what we have in common is starting to piss me off a bit.

I like this group, I love 2000ad, and it's nice to have that in common with everyone. I have absolutely no problem with anyone in this group, but it does at appear at times that if you're not singing from the far left hymn book, you will get pounced on.

Sssshh.  Don’t anyone tell him.  It’s much funnier that way.
