Three Films By Sammo Hung

If you like action flicks, this new BD set from Eureka is an absolute must - and the transfers are retina-meltingly gorgeous.

I really hope we get more of his 70s/80s/90s out on UK blu.

Yup, got that on order. Eastern Condors, Iron Fisted Monk AND Magnificent Butcher (aka the best unofficially Drunken Master sequel) makes this an absolute essential.

That being said, i've still not picked up the Once Upon a Time in China Trilogy, Project A Part 1 and Part 2, Meals on Wheels and Two John Woo Movies sets yet, Eureka have been doing gods own work!

Fist of the North Star has been on circulation for the last few days. Hey, it's that time of year, it's cold and I don't wanna go out at night so i'm binging some good old fashioned anime schlock.

Aye Space 1999 is a gem that really stands up to scrutiny all these years later.

So today has been pretty spugging bad for the folks of Manchester. Fortunately wasn't in the Arndale when the absolute drokk head went nuts but a friend was. Not a good time for anyone involved, just hoping the wounded all pull through.

US theatres ... displayed signs banning unaccompanied males from screenings.

This was, I believe, revealed as a hoax by some attention-seeking scrote.  Which rather supports the rest of your post.

Besides being yet another grossly archaic depiction of S&M, that sounds like something Uncle Pat would write in Marshal Law rather than something at DC would actually think alright to publish.

Had a Terou Ishii and Rampo Edogawa double bill this week, two of Ishii's 1969 outings into the weird, stunning and harrowing. Both where some of the most amazing yet baffling genre deep dives i've taken in a long while and i'll be more than ready to check out both more Ishii movies (his Yakuza Law films look bonkers!) and Edogawa novels, thankfully most appear to have been translated into English.

Horrors of Malformed Men

Ishii's adaptation of a pair of Edogawa's novellas focusing on detective Kogoro Akechi, as an amnesiac man estranged from his family follows a trail of cover ups, murder, hypersexual fetishes and an island of deformed and angry men.

Orgies of Edo

Ishii's anthology following the misfortunes of working class women in Edo period Japan, as power mad lords and bandits terrorize the working classes in increasingly strange and violently esoteric ways.
Not many movies feature a matador race where the bulls are on fire, i'll give it that!

Hawks tiresome Y!FCBB Work Edition Vol.5:

Yoinck! OK so though I said I wanted to avoid hospitality but I really need money, and a former employer of mine from probably the one good outlet i've worked for has approached me to help manage a new store they're opening in Victoria. Good money for what it is, it's a stop gap, plus discounted travel as I work in the station so gonna be milking that plus!

Yoinck! Pt. 2! After a surprisingly short period wait period, my application for a Voluntary Placement at BBC Media City (Radio Manchester and 5Live) for 10 days has been approved, interview for opportunity is next week, and if nothing else will get me to network a bit. Fingers crossed for this....

Bah!: Waiting. So much waiting. It's the absolute worst part of undertaking anything of this nature because you seemingly can't just start ASAP. Bah! Double Bah!

Keef has pretty much my shared sentiments.

Twas fine, appropriately flawed, easily best Warner/DC movie since Batman Begins (controversial take I know), it most certainly isn't the second coming it will inevitably be held up as, but entertaining none the less.

Joker

It was fine. Solid 6/10. Not gonna redefine the genre. Still just a silly corporate comic book movie. Mildly self indulgent. Probably won’t see again.

Can we stop talking about it now? I’m so very tired of the discourse.

Both sides are as bad as each other, though - I mean, just look at all those left wing spree killers there've been.

Like the Nazis.

Telly Savalas improvised acting throughout the final act is some of the most enjoyable of his career, he hams it completely up to 100 and is loving every second of it.
