(Children don't want to read stories about children anyway.)

The briefest look at children’s TV suggests this is utter bollocks.

Children don't make TV shows, they just watch the children's TV shows that exist, because the alternative is not to watch at all.

Perhaps I came across as too dogmatic, because I just wrote one sentence instead of an essay, which doesn't leave any room for nuance. I don't mean that children hate stories about children. Just that they generally don't require stories to be about children, but are usually quite happy reading stories about adults. When 2000 AD started, it was aimed at the same age group as the Regened prog, but the stories then were not Cadet Dredd, or Teen MACH One or whatever. Yet somehow it lasted for 43 years, when other titles didn't.

I liked the Strontium Dog story. However in future I want to see stories where JA is an adult, rather than as a child just because it's an all ages issue. (Children don't want to read stories about children anyway.)

Surely most of today's readers were reading the Meg three years ago? Do we really need Havn reprinted so soon? It's not as if there's a shortage of alternatives.

That cover is brilliant. I love the little three-eyed alien birds flying round the concussed alien's head!

Hogan's work was so bad that I'm counting it as a negative number of stories, so if the only factor was quantity I'd vote for MacManus. But of course quality is more important, and for MACH Zero and his autobiography im voting for MacManus.

Rules query: are we counting everything Bishop wrote, or only comic strips? Because it Thrill-Power Overload qualifies then I'll vote for him. Otherwise I vote for "none of the above."

On the database the prologue to Necrophim is wrongly attributed to Tony Luke: http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=thrill&page=profiles&choice=NECROPHI

If it means more revenue for Rebellion to invest in 2000AD or in the Treasury of British Comics, then I'm all for it. It's only four times a year and it doesn't cost subscribers extra. (But I wish they'd stop this Cadet Dredd business; when I was of primary school age I wanted to read stories about grown-ups, not about kids.)

Good for him, and for all of them, that's amazing!

The Dredd story was only a comedy so I wouldn't take the helmet thing too seriously. It made me laugh, and that's all it was meant to do.

Survival Geeks ended just the way it should, and I'm glad they got the cover.

Hershey -- what Tordelback said. I did like the Bolland impersonation for the flashback though.

The Order -- what Rocka said.

The Future Shock was alright, a hint of Black Mirror there.

Tornado and Starlord weren't specials though.

Yes they were - one summer special each, two Tornado annuals and three Starlord annuals.

Of course!

If we're counting them, should we also count Diceman?

(Edit:) Also there were the poster progs. A Dan Dare poster prog in 1977, Judge Dredd 1-5 in 1993-94, and one each for Slaine, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dogs and Nemesis.

That's a nice chart. However you left off the Rogue Trooper Annual in 1991, the Dan Dare Annuals in 1979 and 1980, the 2000AD Action Special and the Rogue Trooper Action Special.
