Color is overrated.

Weird to see Defoe relegated to floppy. Surely there's been enough material released since The Damned to put out a proper collection? The Damned, The London Hanged... that one-shot in the 2014 Winter Special? Maybe sales fell off? I don't like Defoe that much, but I thought it was still a primer 2000 AD strip right now.

The first issue really felt like an extended set up, reexplaining the end of the first series and only slightly set up the new story. And Even though it’s still called 'White Knight'. I’m not super thrilled Joker is still integral to the story.

Also, this time around there are going to be one-shot specials highlighting other characters. The first one is about Von Freeze, and it’s not drawn by Murphy. Which makes this go around feel a lot less special then the first series. More commercial, if that makes sense.

We shall see.

All I would say is, you don't write Judge Dredd, you write Mega City 1 and incorporate Dredd.

Been a while since we saw MC1. The early episodes of Sons Of Booth, maybe.

The World According to Chimpsky & The Samaritan were both Mega City One Stories featuring Judge Dredd. IMO

IMO I don’t think we need another Judge Dredd. But we could really use another Nikolai Dante. Something regular recurring, bombastic, high adventure, and a little scandalous.  I can’t think of anything since that really hit its mark, even temporarily.

I signed up for DC Universe app to give its comic selection a go and set some goals to hit by the end of the month. So far I’m making pretty good progress. These are the comics I’m working through

This is some of the stuff I’ve been reading on ComiXology recently.

When two of the best selling comics of the last 20 years are Walking Dead and Saga I’m not sure I buy into the conclusion that the money is at Marvel and DC. The money is finding something an audience wants to read.

I ended up paying 40 cents an issue for the Simon Spurrier Dreaming series (I wish I’d realized this sale was happening last week when got all the new Books of Magic series for a dollar each). I should probably grab those 2 dollar Sandman trades now, instead of hating myself for missing them, later. I’ve never read OG Gaiman Sandman.

You might have some lucking back the 90s rather then the actual current stuff. McFarland, Larsen, Bagley eras, most of which I’m sure have collected editions in form or another.

That was the worst logo ever. I don't think it even qualifies as a logo really, it's just a font.

The logo's nothing special, but there's conceptual unity (IMO) with the logo and the page layout, especially the curved cropping of the cover art to the left of the page. I don't think there's much unity in the current prog's layout. The "2000 AD" font has no relation to the logo to the left, and it seems odd (to me) that "2000 AD" is mentioned twice.

It is odd to have it twice, but I think the idea is the 'badge' logo is the brand (like a Marvel or DC cover logo), but the title is also 2000 AD. But then, the Megazine doesn’t have a badge logo, so.... maybe I’ve no idea.

I’ve been reading Books of Magic due to a ComiXology sale, it’s pretty good. Trying The Dreaming before the sale ends at the end of the month is my next move. I've not read any previous Sandman related titles (except the OG Books of Magic mini series a few year ago) until now. So I’ve got no comparison to the prior stuff.

Broad agreement here that the Prog started getting better again once Sin Dex and Dante became regular features. For me, the second Golden Age of 2000AD hit around Progs 1500-1850, if we're talking week-in, week-out 4/5 thrills are on top form. The Prog is in fine fettle just now, probably it's just me that's feeling more silver than golden.

Ditto. Though I personal push that golden era back to 1400. Because Total War is real real good. I’d also argue Prog 1651 is the great Prog based purely on line-up of all time.
