Film & TV / Battlestar Galactica S1 on Freeview
11 June, 2006, 12:30:09 AM
Heads up for anyone who hasn't seen this yet and has access to Freeview.

S1 starts on Sky Three on the 24th June at 8pm.

Unfortunately they're not showing the mini-series first.

Cheers

Maybe you can mock up a leaflet sponsoring a single mother, and send it to him.

I just read his fanfic synopsis for what would have been Return of the Jedi.

Blimey.

S1 is airing on Freeview at the moment on Sky Three.

They tend to be running about 18 months behind Sky 1, so it would be at least that before it airs on that.

I think that's about as close to it airing on real telly as you'll get, I would have thought it would have shown up by now, but it seems Sky have all the rights to it.

There seem to be a few shows that fall through the cracks, The Wire, Deadwood, Carnivale etc. that don't show up on the regular 5 channels.

Channel 5 are launching a C5 US channel this year, maybe there'll be some new series to fill it.

I quite liked the Prince of Darkness/Event Horizon vibe, although the "I'm behind you Toby" bit sounded like it was coming from a dirty old perv...

And yep, I think the writing could have looked better. Didn't something similar happen to Willow in Buffy?

I feel the crushing inevitability of Hugh Jackman as Dredd approaching...

What do you reckon to using the old 2000AD logo for the starting prog of Origins?

I just wonder if it's the sort of thing that might catch the eye of lapsed readers.

Umm, I guess there's room for both Boing and Bungee?

Like Pepsi and Coke?

The players in the Boing Bowl that got nuked weren't totally encased in Boing, it looked like they just had it on their feet and hands. So it doesn't have to be encasing a person.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say it could be used as a bungee rope. It is the miracle plastic after all.

I quite liked the story so far, but I did groan at the 'raining men' line.

Ah, I see my apologies - I'm seeing Sc*j*s before my eyes.

What a frightening thought.

Maybe I should have said the last post from CE sounded a little Scojo-ey in tone. Is that better?

I'm just judging by what's posted, I've never met either of them.

it must have been the 'tee-hee'

Chiming in late on this, I thought Rufus cover was ace, and I'd like to see him do a Dredd strip.

I wasn't wild about his work on the Giant story, but it would be interesting to see how he's developed and I'd certainly prefer it to Inaki Miranda on Regime Change.

Apart from Dredd himself, I didn't think it was terrible - but I thought it wasn't particularly well suited to that type of story, I think a more gritty style would have worked on a story set in Banana-Cit.
