Wasn't that the one where the Scottish fella shot fireballs from under his kilt?

More info, including confirmation that the game will be coming to at least 360 and PS3, plus this little nugget:

Quote
The game is ... being pitched squarely at an adult audience. A report describes the Predator's signature move being one where he picks up a marine, snaps his neck, then tears his head off, which is followed by his spinal column. Once off, the head will continue to blink and gasp, and...well, yes, you get the idea.

I remember being excited about the prospect of being either a Predator or Alien in first person shooter just over ten years ago when I read about this in a magazine.

Brought the original game when it went gold.

Playing the Predator for me was the easiest choice and I think it's even recommended in the game itself that most beginners should start with this one. As you might all learn or already know.

With all the various vison modes and their hitech weaponry.

Laser disc and the shoulder mounted plasma cannon and taking skulls.

I never got far with the alien or Marine.

I played the sequel game for about half a hour in a computer cafe years ago. As the Predator. I thought it was cool how you could climb up trees and walk along the widest branches. One the things that those things were good at. I stopped playing after the first or second misson.

Then I brought the xbox RTS version. "AVP: Extinction".

I never worked on any of the Xbox machines that were hooked up in of the many computer cafes that I visited and never brough one of those Xbox machines.

But I did borrow the Playstion Two version many years later from the local video store.

it was too bad agame, though it was tedious to play and I never got far on either of the three choices. I like to see how a sequle might turn out.

Is there a working site for the new game?

I found some screenies.

Not sure if anybody knows this site, but from the looks of things. There might have been other games based on the licence since the sequel came out or these might be the new game but explained in three parts.

"Aliens Crucible" sounds like a huge RPG.

Awesome! Played and loved both previous AvP games
The first one was the one that stopped me wearing headphones when gaming. First facehugger attack I jumped back so far the headphone jack twanged out of the speaker and hit me in the face

I played the other PC games and loved them.

My mate Pete jumped back, knocked the chair over and ended up on the floor with his first facehugger attack. Luckily it was at Uni and lots of us were watching him play so we were able to mock him endlessly.

Given how well developed the 3 species and their weapons are, I can't imagine this game is going to be very different than the others BUT that suits me fine. If it aint broke...! It worked brilliantly before and I look forward to better graphics and atmosphere, tweaked gameplay and better multiplayer.

It was much harder to successfully play an alien in multiplayer, spinning around ceilings and walls is disorientating in the extreme and you have to hide, anticipate your prey and pounce to get your kills. It was a good leveller at LAN days with the less skillful players (like me) chaingunning away madly as scared marines trying to get the smug gits playing the aliens. I loved the mode where you start with one alien vs loads of marines and then every marine he kills respawns as an alien too, last man standing mode I think. I hope they bring that back.

Had a similar experience - my friend jumped out of his skin, and he was only watching me play!

The new screens look wicked - good that they've apparently improved the Predator levels - they were always the most dissapointing aspect of the original.

I saw this on the cover of a PC mag the other day, so it seems pretty much confirmed that this will be coming out on 360,PS3 and PC.

It's all happening in LA this week.  New (and much longer) Rebellion AvP trailer out.  This'll be the "play as the Predator one", I'm guessing.  Still lookin' good!

Pardon my ignorance, but how did Rebellion end up with rights to either creation? I know Alien was down to Dan O'Bannon and directly a film script, (having sifted through the billion extras on Quadrilogy) and I've a feeling Predator was much the same.

Confuzzed...

They don't own the rights.  (And neither does Dan O'Bannion...)  Sega have licenced (i.e. rented) the games rights from 20th Century Fox, giving them right to produce games, under approval from the movie company, for the period of the licence.  Aliens versus Predator, which Rebellion are making for Sega, is one of several Aliens games currently under development, but will be the first to be released.

I also worked on a Star Wars game for Rebellion, but that doesn't mean they own the rights to that either.
