I filled out your survey. I have a real love for early 2000AD (well - my early - which started at prog 146 and kept going strong till, what, about 805 when the wilderness years began).
My first prog I took to a party (I was 10), and some other kid reckoned he would claim it for himself. We fought over it and it ripped in half. I still kept it - and still read it for years over and over again until I went on a pilgrimage to Forbidden Planet in London (from my home in the Highlands of Scotland) and got a replacement. It was like a gold bullion transaction for me in terms of value. I would dream about the Forbidden Planet shop before I'd ever seen it.
Times past. I just looked at Barney's prog covers:
http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=covers&page=coversindex. It was fun to just scroll through and remember all the highlights. I don't know where I'd find the time for a re-read, though. So busy with other things.
Check out the cover to my first prog - some Bolland magic right there - the lightning flashes in the visor - the dystopian message. What's not to love?
