Thanks for the support everyone, unfortunately other work delayed my questionnaire making a bit!  It's fairly short and none of the wordy questions are compulsory so hopefully it shouldn't put anyone out too much, although I would not be opposed to anyone writing as much as they like!

Done...  but the first question is ambiguous! "How old were you when you began reading?" Do you mean reading 2000AD, or reading in general? I assumed the latter. (If it's the former, then the answer is 2, and the year I started reading was 1968.)

Honestly I didn't even expect the replies to reach double figures! Thankfully this isn't the entirety of my research so it won't just be impossible data analysis here on out! Thanks for answering

I filled out your survey.  I have a real love for early 2000AD (well - my early - which started at prog 146 and kept going strong till, what, about 805 when the wilderness years began).

My first prog I took to a party (I was 10), and some other kid reckoned he would claim it for himself. We fought over it and it ripped in half.  I still kept it - and still read it for years over and over again until I went on a pilgrimage to Forbidden Planet in London (from my home in the Highlands of Scotland) and got a replacement.  It was like a gold bullion transaction for me in terms of value.  I would dream about the Forbidden Planet shop before I'd ever seen it.

Times past.  I just looked at Barney's prog covers: http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=covers&page=coversindex.  It was fun to just scroll through and remember all the highlights.  I don't know where I'd find the time for a re-read, though.  So busy with other things.

Check out the cover to my first prog - some Bolland magic right there - the lightning flashes in the visor - the dystopian message. What's not to love?

No, no, no, no.  I spoke about the ending of Anderson: Crusade on this forum.  Someone (can't remember who) asked me, 'Why, what happened, Jayzus?'. I proceeded to elaborate on my incomplete and incorrect memory of it, before the same poster smugly corrected me.

Never ask a question you know the answer to.  It makes you a smart-arsed snide, Donald Trump or both.
