I've nothing to complain about, other than the baseline horror of everything spiraling into a debt singularity from which there is apparently no escape, but that's now universal so it doesn't count. But my friends and family...
I have a good friend who, not unlike HoU, has doctorates, scary brains and sundry academic whatsits falling out of his pockets, as well as 15 years of 3rd-level teaching and professional research experience. He recently and reluctantly went for a low-paid admin-type job in his specific area of expertise in the very institution where he has worked on and off for the past 10 years, and is currently working unpaid to complete a flagship project whose budget has run out... and didn't get it. So now he gets to show up every day for his voluntary job and waste even more time explaining the ropes to the guy who did get the job. Unhilarious in the extreme, and I can't help feeling entirely premeditated on the part of his 'employer'.
