I agree with Old Tankie as you never know what's coming around the corner.

Cheers Kerrin, but I've absolutely no right to be complaining, every other thing in my life is absolutely tickety boo right now, my brother and his wife are expecting my first nephew/niece this weekend, and I am the most fortunate of men in matters of health an family  - hence restricting myself to moaning here!  Life does not spug - but work or lack thereof certainly does.  If something has to suck, better it be that.

Please to ignore the following, just getting it off my chest.  Look away now!

It's been coming for a long time, two years at least, to the point where it's sort of old hat at this point, as long-term boarders can boredly attest.  Difference right now is that there doesn't seem any reason to hope things are going to improve even if we could hang on a bit longer.  We've plummeted down from 80 staff to 50 to 25 to 15, and now fuck knows - 5 for bit, and then none?   My business partner stupidly let a pile of good people go last year in a panic when there was no need, but I managed to re-hire most of them and we've been struggling along for the last year on the strength of their skill and hard work.  But when there's no work, there's no money, and when there's no money, there's no wages.  I just utterly hate putting good folk out on the street, especially this time when there really is absolutely no chance of them getting another job anytime soon.  You're just fucking up their lives in the worst way.  For some reason this weighs on my mind even more than the implications of bankruptcy and tax bills and overdraft guarantees and all that other good stuff.

I know I do go on like this a lot, but I genuinely find moaning here quite therapeutic, particularly since right now I don't want to load troubles on my very, very pregnant wife, and most of my mates lost their jobs some time ago and frankly don't need to hear my tales of employer hardship.

Anyway, who knows, a giant contract could land on us Monday morning and all this hand-wringing would be for nowt.

Theres no point in beating yourself up or going on a guilt trip over events that are part of a bigger picture and are out of your control.I know its a natural reaction and i am not saying you are wrong to feel the way you do but understand its not your fault as you have done what you can.

Remain positive as thats what i am doing as i have lost 65,000 quids worth of work because of the previously mentioned individual who falsely claims i am a Paedophile.I should have been doing that work right now.

I have been paying particular attention to our friends across the Atlantic in the U.S for some time now and right now i am watching a country that is utterly divided down the middle ,that has been runned into the ground by Corporate/Financial/Globalist Elitists who have sucked it dry over successive administrations [especially GWBush] collapse in on itself in a political/economic shitstorm that will be unprecedented because of the left wing totalitarian govt now in office just as predicted.

The cracks are beginning to show and it will get worse before it gets better unfortunately.

Yep, good luck to you TB. I don't know what it's like in the Republic but on the mainland things are starting to pick up again...slightly (and that's in a fairly specialised area of manafacturing) so hopefully you can tough it out. But like you say, it's only one aspect of life, and that fat contract may very well land on the doormat monday. Fuck it and punch on.

Just so you know, you sound mental there. And not in a good way. Have you considered going for a walk in the park and feeding ducks instead of sitting at a pc brooding? You might just find it helpfull.

I mean tomorrow of course.

Feeding ducks at night would be creepy beyond words.

on the mainland

Oops. Do we say that?

.....

Anyway, sorry to hear about your multiplying woes, TB, and thanks for keeping us informed. We do care. I think you've done amazingly well to build up such a business in the first place. It's a tall order for anything to be recession-proof.
STRIKE !!!

I think i know enough about you and for certain reasons i wont react to that comment.

Just so you know it might be an idea for you to talk to someone else as i dont particularly like your attitude.

I meant that in a good way. Sometimes it's really easy to get caught in a negative mindframe, stewing over things that you can't change and can't influence. From there it's only a short hop to paranoia and conspiracy theory thinking and that's never healthy. A break from the norm, a step outside, a chance to contemplate simple pleasures can do a body a world of good.

I wish you had said that without your previous comment as i misconstrued it.

Apologies. 8)

For what its worth though i totally agree with you and i like what you say.

I can only say in all honesty that i am not stewing over it all and i am not stuck in a negative mindframe over it.Years and years ago i used to be in a negative mindstate over things like this and i was actually clinically depressed [i think i have mentioned this before] but now i have left all that behind and hopefully for good.I think you come out of these things stronger than you were before.

I do get involved in all this stuff and comment on it because i find it fascinating and  i just observe stuff without being depressed about it as lifes too short.

Positivity [especially in terms of health] is the answer and we are at a very interesting critical juncture in world events and politics etc and i dont feel like i cant influence anything as i actually think you can collectively and i see the evidence of this whenever i read comments online and i actually feel optimistic about things in the long term.

Job = Shit
Finances = Fucked
Life = Pretty Fucking Gash
Wife & Kids = Great
Mates = Solid

I hope something comes through for ye. Oh and Congrats to you & the Mrs.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

I was all set for a great day out up London with the family this morning when the postie delivered a parcel and a letter.
The parcel was the Best of Judge Dredd, hurrah!
The letter was from my car insurance saying that they had not received my no claims documentation from my previous insurer.
 I was straight on the phone fuming, but I calmed down before I eventually got through to a human.
I explained that they had not received the 'actual renewal form' from me, from my previous insurer when I sent that and since then I had also sent them a cover note from the previous insurer which was recorded delivery and here are all the relevant details.
Upon this the lady said that there might be a delay due to the amount of post they get each day. I replied why don't YOU check with my previous insurer as this is getting beyond a joke. She then said she will look into my case and get back to me in the week.
For Fucks sake, you do everything correctly and you still end up buggered >:( >:( >:(
