It's only a mid life crisis if you plan to live to 80...

No guarantees to last that long of course Tordel, but I just need to get as far as the year that 'San Junipero' becomes reality.

Cheers everyone- over the shock of it now!

To shamelessly nick a gag from Inside No9, if you hit 40 and get a sudden urge to deliver babies, you're having a midwife crisis.

For me, 30 and 40 were no big deal but I found 50 quite depressing cos that's proper middle aged. Hope you had a grand day!

Thanks for that. 9 months and counting....And I would dearly love that to be middle aged. Such high hopes I have.

Happy birthday sir, and speaking as someone for whom 40 was a literal previous lifetime, I can affirm that it can get a lot better from there on in.

On the other hand, it can also get worse first, so keep that In mind. Being now two years off fifty, I'm very aware of living in my twilight years. An acquaintance swears blind I told her I didn't expect to live to see that particular milestone, so I take every day as it comes.

Uh-oh... Chest pains. Think I might have pulled a muscle chopping down trees and moving the wood onto the bonfire. At least, I hope that's what it is.

Sounds like it, but maybe go get some organ-of-the-illegitimate-state-apparatus medico to have a look at the same time.  As you know, these things are better fixed sooner, rather than later.  Not heart-related, but I'm currently on a day between two funerals, one of someone who didn't go to the doc, and one who was waiting on a specialist appointment.  No need for a third, eh?

Thanks, Tordels. I'm aware that it might be serious but I'm on my own at the farm for the next few days and the animals need seeing to and whatnot until the boss gets back on Monday night. My plan is to take it easy until then, stay alert and then see somebody on Tuesday if I think I need to.

I'm sorry about your friends, Tordels. Please forgive me for not saying so in my last post - I can get a bit selfish when I'm preoccupied.

Not at all, was just using them to pressure you!  Untreated illness on my mind a lot lately, so once you stop interfering with the livestock go waste some valuable medical resources toot sweet.

Since being diagnosed with mild angina a couple of years back I'm paranoid about chest pains- last week I had some that the GTN spray weren't shifting so I headed to A&E hoping to get a quick ecg. I knew it may take hours but I didn't expect to be discharged three days later after an angiogram- turned out the ticker was fine must've just just been muscular. Felt guilty for bed blocking but glad to be reassured.

Sorry for your loss TB

Cheers DDD, was going to say 'no biggie, just friends from long ago',  but having just returned from the funeral I'm not so sure: it was beautifully done,  but genuinely harrowing.

From the sudden onset of severe anxiety to suicide in just 5 weeks, one of the most energetic,  positive,  intelligent, affable and accomplished men I've known, just gone - leaving a wife and three young kids behind.

Do me a favour squaxx, if you're having problems with your thinking and feeling organ,  go see someone,  and don't take 'no' or 'take a number' for an answer. Sometimes, maybe often, even talking to family and friends about it just isn't enough: sometimes you need professional help, same as with any other severe illness.

The Legendary Shark

Well said, Tordels, and my deepest condolences to you.
