Latest Comics International
« on: 01 October, 2002, 07:31:22 pm »
Just flicked thru this in borders at lunchtime..

(1) Garth Ennis is doing 4 more ‘War Stories’ –  artists include Carlos Ezqeurra, Cam Kennedy and David Lloyd. Great stuff.

(2) An Alan Grant letter that spells out how Rebellion are (allegedly) trying to screw the creators,as quoted on another thread. Can I say that here ? Very depressing reading anyway.

(3) Another letter begging for ‘Charley’s War’ GN reprints (hurrah! – and no it wasn’t me).

(4) Our very own Dave Bishop saying that another wave of the latest 2K talent is set to leave these shores for the US (sob) - I just hope the ‘next/new wave’ is ready to step up to the crease, ‘cos there’s not an enormous sign of it at the mo’..

(5) Dez Skinn says he’s not about to restart ‘Warrior’.

Heh. Anyone else think it?s a bit cheeky that CI has cover anouncements for, variously, a comment in their comments collumn (a collumn usually reserved for fanboys whining about their various pet gripes), some internet rumours and a letter on the letters page?

War Stories are called:
War Story:: The Reivers
War Story: J For Jenny
War Story: Condors
War Story: Archangel

IIRC

I hope Charlies War is collected soon, book 2 just went on ebay for a large amount of money, and I don't want to be tricked into spending a lot of money on it a la Judgement Day!

Cheers

If I recall correctly, a 2000AD creator stated that Rebellion did not increase the budget for 2000AD when it was acquired. I found this to be quite bizarre, what with Rebellion's mighty multimedia plans for the comic's most popular characters.

A sad state of affairs, as 2000AD is the perfect laboratory for creators to work on potentially lucrative characters and situations for Rebellion. Such a pity then that - if the statements above are correct - folk like Frazer Irving, Henry Flint and Jock are not being granted the respect and financial security they deserve. Is 2000AD merely being allowed to continue publishing just to retain the brand name on the shelf, with nary a concern for sound investment in the best of British talent - and the future of Rebellion?

1.  Well, they'll look good anyway.

2.  So far all I've heard is a one sided argument, without any facts (as has been pointed out conversly by someone else), what's the point of courting public opinion without them.

3.  All things come to those who wait, or if they have the money, there is always e-bay.

4.  Well, it's happened before and a few years after that it'll happen again.  Nature abhors a vaccuum and all of that rot.

5.  What would he put in it if he did?
