Well I decided to dash for it on Saturday and head for Gosh! for the 2000AD signing on free comic book day. I figured that even if I missed the event (as was likely) I could pick up a rug I ordered the other day from a shop nearby – and get some free comics of course from Gosh!
Usual spanner in the works was the 'come when I feel like it' north London bus which wiped out for sure any slim chance of getting there in time.
So when I got to Gosh! the event had finished and Al Ewing was at the till buying some comics. When he paid up I said hello and introduced myself. I asked some very probing questions such as "when is the next Zombo series" and "any more Dredds soon?" Very nice chap that he is, he signed my free 2000AD preview comic and even did a hot dang doodle for me.
The 2000AD graphic novel droid was there and I said a quick hello to him.
I also picked up a couple of issues of DC's Wednesday Comics. I did say to the guy at the till that it's a crime that they are being given away for free. (Not sure how popular they were but I think they are excellent.)
Not comfortable to go to Gosh! just for free stuff I bought the Walking Dead graphic novel 2 as the free comics cost Gosh!
So a quick but worthwhile excursion.
