It's a bit draughty here, too - but plenty of blackberries, raspberries and such to snaffle. I have a couple of raspberry bushes growing outside my cabin and it's great to grab a couple to chomp on now and then.

The largest typhoon to ever make landfall is currently ripping through the Philippines - 195 mph winds. Millions have been evacuated from its path.

Meanwhile, we have another brewing - Etna. If Eta forms, 2020 will become the most active hurricane season since record-keeping began. The 2020 season is currently tied with 2005, when it comes to the most named storms.

This comes at a time of record-breaking storms and other natural disasters generally.

The chance of limiting the worst damages of climate change rides on Biden winning the US election - and even then it’ll be very difficult to do.

It is literally the continued existence of civilisations around the world riding on how Americans vote.

It is a world capable of supporting the billions of human beings on it that is at stake.

So, the US left the Paris Agreement today.

However, there are two important contextual caveats:

1. The Trump admin has actively and deliberately moved the U.S. backwards on climate in the last 4 years, irregardless of whether it was in the Paris Agreement or not.

2. But nearly 50% of US economy IS still in.

See:

https://www.wearestillin.com/

Also, the doors have been left wide open for the US to return, and for people/advocates/scientists/businesses etc etc to still partake.

Here’s the UN Climate Joint Statement on the US Withdrawal:

Biden's publicly committed to going re-joining as soon he's sworn in as president… with the obvious caveat about not counting your chickens.

Indeed. He said if he wins they’ll be back in within 80 days.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden announced his intent to have the U.S. rejoin the Paris climate agreement if he wins the White House. The Trump administration officially dropped out of the accord on Wednesday, becoming the first country to ever withdraw from an international climate change pact.

In response, Biden, who has his own climate change agenda, signaled the exodus would end the day he enters office.

"Today, the Trump Administration officially left the Paris Climate Agreement," Biden tweeted. "And in exactly 77 days, a Biden Administration will rejoin it."

Just mowed the lawn. It’s 7 November. I know I live in the south of England but we’re not coastal.

Yeah, it is crazily warm. It reminds me of Feb, when I walking around outside in a T-shirt. I got the same vibe then as now - “this is not good!!”

Bloke across the road mowed his grass yesterday. I’m looking at our back garden and wondering if it’ll be dry enough for me to mow it again before the winter weather sets in. It’s nearly December.
