UNDT Round 1 - Magic and other ‘super-powers’ (Heroes)
« on: 02 August, 2020, 07:20:29 AM »
Saved from another mash-up group by the brilliance of you lot we have a grouping covering the vast range of fantastically powered characters not gobbled up by other groups already. As you might expect this makes it a wonderfully diverse and I’d say one of the hardest groups to call. Who is the zenith of your fandom?

Pop the names of the two characters you'd like to progress into Round 2 in a reply to this thread and I'll count up early Wednesday 5th August.

Luke Kirby (The Journal of Luke Kirby) - https://britishcomics.fandom.com/wiki/Luke_Kirby
Nemesis (Nemesis the Warlock) - https://britishcomics.fandom.com/wiki/Nemesis_the_Warlock
Zenith (Zenith) - https://britishcomics.fandom.com/wiki/Zenith
Mallory Hope (Hope) - https://britishcomics.fandom.com/wiki/Mallory_Hope

What is all this nonsense? Well the 'rules' (ahem) for Round 1 are here:

And there's more about the structure of the tournament here:

The foul warlock, the arch-deviant, the lord of the flies - call him what you will, but Nemesis must surely take the round.

Meanwhile, Zenith survived mad Nazis, evil gods and Kajagoogoo, so boy wizards and whoever are no hurdle.

Big Black Nemesis, parthenogenesis, no one move a muscle till Luke Kirby comes home.

(And kudos to you SBT, for your puns on Shriekback's song "Nemesis". (They're one of my all-time favourite bands). Nicely done, sir!

Think in all good conscience I have to abstain from this round - not only have I not read Zenith, I've not read Summer Magic or Hope either!

Luke Kirby and Zenith.

I've been lucky enough to read both of these series recently, and have to say that I think Luke Kirby has aged far better. Unfortunately young Hope has yet to really develop enough of a presence and the arch-deviant jumped the Dune-Shark mid way through the series.

Sounds like a vote for Nemesis to me.

In entirely unrelated news, my vote is for Nemesis.

And... um... Robert Neal Cassady McDowell.

They are all magic, super, great but who do you want in Round 2? Let us know by first thing in the morning as I'll be counting up then.

Nemesis, obvs.
Less obvs, I think Luke Kirby? That one episode where he popped the bully's knuckle and then felt really bad about it later was cool.

VOTING CLOSED - Let the Khaos... I mean chaos continue.

Tough, tough draw this one and while he's been thrilling many with his noir magic Mallory Hope just didn't get a look in. While at the top The Lord of the Flies

Nemesis

took a sword to the rest unsurprisingly.

Leaving two teens(ish) to battle out for what I suspect will be one of the strongest runners up in Round 2 and it seems we like our heroes self serving and external self absorbed and so

Zenith

checks his biorythms for Round 2
