Thanks for sharing, Bolt  :)

This has been a fun project to work on with David, and I'm delighted to see it out there. Rebellion and the Treasury have been super-supportive and I hope our work on this lives up to the high standards they've been setting with their releases.

There's a fun mix of material in here, and we put a lot of effort into making it look it's best. Something like Captain Klep was a real challenge, as the original printing was wonky at best and required a lot of manual clean-up, but I think the comparison sample at DTT gives an idea of what we were able to do.

Will be really interested to see what readers think of this when they have it in their hands :-)

Brilliant Dave, thanks!

COSMIC COMICS is Hibernia's 14th publication, and it was a real thrill to be allowed to play in the Treasury of British Comics archive.

This collects Kevin O'Neill's formative work from titles like Tornado, Starlord, 2000 AD, Lion and Oink.

Richard Pearce (Amstor of this parish) has done amazing work on the design and restoration of the artwork.

Only for sale on Hibernia's Comicsy shop here-http://www.comicsy.co.uk/hibernia/ (http://www.comicsy.co.uk/hibernia/)

Amstor & David - it was my pleasure. The work you guys do sets a tonal standard that every archive should aim for.

Yep this is so true. As I think I've done everytime this ordered with barely a seconds throught.

Looking forward to it landing... 14 you say I might do a head count as I've ordered all the ones I've been able to but I'm wondering...

ah man, that cover takes me back! I remember poring over that in detail as a kid, but it became detached and my copy of that special was (and still is to this day) coverless - it was a real nostalgia-jolt to see that, and the idea of early Kev O'Neill given the high-quality Hibernia treatment certainly floats my boat - I'm in!

Thanks Colin and Dandontdare - very kind of you to say, and I hope you're both happy with Cosmic Comics!

A big thank-you too to the droids in the Nerve Centre who gave CC a great plug in the Thrillmail and on the 2000AD news section  :)

Colin - a quick Hibernia checklist for you  ;)

-- Doomlord: The Deathlords of Nox
-- Comic Archive: One-Eyed Jack and the Death of Valiant
-- Comic Archive: Beyond 2000AD
-- Comic Archive: It's Ghastly!
-- Comic Archive: The Fleetway Files
-- The Thirteenth Floor Vol. 1
-- The Thirteenth Floor Vol. 2
-- The Tower King (1st ed. saddle-stitched, 2nd ed. perfect-bound)
-- The House of Daemon
-- Baker's Half-Dozen
-- The Complete Dracula File
-- The Best of the Library of Death
-- Eagle Adventure Special

...plus Cosmic Comics now :) The Dracula File and The Thirteenth Floor are now out in great editions from the Treasury, of course, and I'm afraid the others (Doomlord aside) are out of print, but there are digital editions of all of the Comic Archives available direct from David.

Thanks - hope you enjoy it!

A very positive first day of sales for CC, with half of the print run sold and some great support from everyone. This had a longer-than-expected gestation for a couple of reasons, so it's rewarding to see  :)

Postage at £5 to the UK is expensive, but I can send it for the same price to New Zealand or the States. We can blame  Brexit for a lot but not for that, that's just daftness :D

Landed (Thank you!) and read. As ever with Hibernia product its a delight. In many ways it felt like an old skool annual or special, which in a lot of ways is no surrpise. Even the things that I have already in original comics are elevated by superb reproduction standards and really nice quality paper - though this disappointing doesn't smell as nice as I was expecting, its actually a pretty bland smell, still possibly more importantly the majority of images sing on the page and the colours are really vibrant.

My one negative is it lacked an interview or biography piece to go with the lovely content. I understand that these can be hard to get hold of /produce but I think it would have rounded things off very nicely.

Still LOADS of content and highlight are the early Captain Klep which it is now clear was much better in Tornado than it was when it came across to 2000ad! And the Tharg strip where a brat visits the Nerve Centre, that was an absolute treat.

It will be no surprise to heard that I wholeheartedly recommend this and roll on whatever comes next.

/makes note to continue paper odour experiments... :) (I know what you mean, though - some paper stocks have a great smell, and part of reading for me is the tactile and the sensory, as well as what's actually on the pages)

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you're happy with the quality - we tried to present this stuff as best as possible, particularly as it was going to have the Treasury branding, and I'm glad if it comes over in the finished collection. A stripography/biography was bounced around at one stage IIRC, but it didn't make the cut.

O'Neill's Klep is the best of the run, IMO. It had a bite I felt the rest lacked, and in some ways I think you can see a little of Marshal Law in there (though the sheer venom Mills & O'Neill brought to that isn't quite as pronounced here!) Tharg and the Intruder is great fun too, so I'm glad you liked that :)

I believe David is at Enniskillen today with the final remains of the print run, and I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes down there!

@Colin YNWA sorry about the smell :D
It's now sold out! It really had gotten a great reaction, thanks for the support, Richard has put in a fantastic shift on the design. Now onto the next project, which, I think will be of interest to a lot here!

Wonderful to see some of those old images again in beautifully crisp reproduction. The actual stories aren't amongst Tharg's best - Dash Decent, Capt Klep, future shocks, text stories and Tharg tales  (hmmm - maybe we should get the Spacespinner lads to review it ) but the pictures are flippin' lovely

Please confirm I am the only owner of this excellent publication in Canada so I can have a blue plaque made for my house.

(Also it's really great.)

Not sure on that front, Trout - perhaps David can confirm so you can arrange for commissioning the plaque? :)

Glad to hear these are all arriving safely and going down well!
