I'm hoping for a Statute or Bust...acton figures would be OK but I typically only collect retro figures*. I'm excited for anything SD though!

(*It's too tempting to go crazy with all these awesome Dredd figures coming out these days, I wouldnt know where to stop!)

I was wondering if the image was an actual physical thing rather than artwork - would eem weird for KS to be used for a single statue though?

ThreeA's prototype 1/6 Johnny Alpha figure that was teased years ago, will finally go into production?
The only drawback would be the £1,743 price tag.
:-)

That's peaked my interest🤔

As said could it be an exclusive bust or 1/6  scale figures (from Warlord games as they have the models so would only need to scale up hence the Kickstarter?

Or my current favourite as it's out the box and retro what about a game book with exclusive prints for hitting targets. I know a few boarders on here that might just wet their pants at that 😂😂😂

Looking closer at the tease I am leaning towards a figurine - what size tho?

There's a FB post from Rebellion which includes the logo for 'Fish Coillectibles'. Can see them online but the image suggests its an action figure / statue.

It's a statue, person doing it got the licence from rebellion when tweeterhead decided not to proceed with the 2000ad statue line they where going to do, think he said the kickstarter is due in January

Yeah, I would love this! I'm pretty sure Rebellion could sell 50, maybe even 100 copies!

If it is a statue as Moly says, that's cool, although it'd need to be amazing for me to back it.

What is interesting is the use of KS. Have Rebellion used this before? It could be a viable model for producing slightly more niche merch, if there's enough interest.

Pretty sure rebellion have used Kickstarter for some of the board games they have done, but the statue is a 3rd party

So it's not Bluetooth-enabled electro-nux?

Good point on both. Ignore me!

Looks like it will be too big for me to afford both in terms of cash and space, but don't begrudge anyone else the chance to get it.  Still think KS is an odd way to fund a one off object mind, but I suppose KS has long since gone past its initial remit of allowing companies to raise development costs to being a pre-order service

Apparently it'll be limited to 500. So folks who want it - I suspect it'll be above the price bracket I'm comfortable with, will need to move fast.

Kickstarter due February apparently.

If that's the case and looking at the starting points for the Tweeterhead figures then you'll be looking at something over £200 (at least). Which like Colin is above my price range. For that price range I'll have to keep on mashing up marvel figures and settle for sub standard lookey likey's

Looks good, but his nose looks wrong.  It could be the angle, but Carlo's always drew it (pre-break) like a fish finger.

I would have also gone with the holster over the groin rather than the armoured codpiece.  I know it's the design Carlos came up with for the TV show but it gives me flashbacks to Stallone Dredd.

Hang on, did we actually see Johnny's nose get broken?  I don't remember that at all.  But yeah, the fish finger nose is a Carlos staple - his Dredd kind of has one too.

Great to see the headsculpt has been revised to give Alpha his classic Ezquerra 'fish finger' nose.  They've also reduced the electonux from their ludicrous size.  The cod piece is still in, however.  They've added a gun and holster nearby, though it doesn't obscure it and the grip on the gun is not the curved type Carlos used to draw but more boringly normal.  But it's getting there!

I might be imagining it, but didn't young Johnny (in Portrait of a Mutant) already have the fish finger?

Yes, 'classic' Alpha always had that very flat, rectangular nose that I say is like a fish finger.

In the 'return from the dead' continuations, his nose is a different shape.  Someone said (here?) it's because his nose had got broken, but I don't remember when or where that happened.  It didn't look as good and lessened some of the stylistic appeal of Alpha for me.  I kept waiting for him to get it fixed in a speed-heal or something.  I found it really jarred me out of the story sometimes.

This fat bloated nose, this is the distracting one.  It looks wrong.  It's not a nose I'd pick.

It must be a nightmare trying to get things right for a commercial piece. There are usually so many images from the source material and the art droids do change things slightly as the years go on.
If you pick one story/image you then might not have sight of what's on the other side of the character in that moment so you may have to go on another image which could be drawn in a different style and has add on's to fit the story arc.
I've had this issue doing my mashup's but I'm not trying to sell stacks. I just have to satisfy one Tooth fan😁.

Everyone has their favourite period/Style so to satisfy everyone is an immense task.
I hope he sells well and maybe they produce another character or 2

If I'm reading this correctly, now that the statue will be for "public" sale and they sell 500 units then they will do a Rogue!!!

Or does it mean including the units paid for through the Kickstarter.

I'd have thought that those with the spare dosh have already splashed the cash and getting another 500 to sell could be a tight ask.

Which is frustrating for a Trooper Fan 🙁

I think it was a run of 500 inc the KS backers.

Anyway, they've been discounted due to low sales, and storage costs - now £130 inc shipping

Here's a pic I took when I met up with a friend in a nearby pub...

Around the time they brought back Johnny Alpha (as a slightly different character in a different universe, with an eye for adapting the story for TV, if anyone remembers that), It occurred to me that Jimmy Nail wouldn't be the worst Johnny Alpha ever.  I know he should have a posh accent, being Future-Farage's son, but as i say, it was a different universe.
