Off Topic / Re: And so it ends...

I feel your pain Robin. I don't think I've read a full prog in over a year. Currently, only Thistlebone and Dredd are keeping me interested. I've seriously considered cancelling my subscription for a while now - and that's something I've had for 24 years. I think it's more habit than enjoyment these days.

The Kickstarter may have ended but I still have a handful of copies of the brilliant Bludd & Xandi collection left for sale.
Written by the Legendary Shark.
Art, lettering and colour splashes  by 2000AD artdroids Tom Newell, Jim Campbell and Karen Holloway, repectively.

It's an absolute belter of a comic and deserves to be read!
Grab your copy from the PARAGONcomic blogspot.

You won't be disappointed!

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 24 January, 2024, 05:03:32 PMFor me to illustrate my own stuff would be futile, woeful, and arrogant - though I'm not above providing the odd concept sketch (as can be seen in the recent Bludd & Xandi book, a few copies of which Mr. Candlish may have remaining...)

Only a few copies left. Without wanting to spoil the plot, here's a few pages by artdroid Tom Newell - no A.I. art in this book, I promise you!

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 24 January, 2024, 03:03:07 PMImagine if Pat Mills fed everything he'd ever written into his LLM, then all he'd have to do is put in an outline and sit back while the program filled in the blanks.

Pretty sure Mills has been regurgitating the same old shite for years anyway.

I see theme tune composer Laurie Johnson has dropped down dead today which shows you what he thought of the reboot idea.

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 04 January, 2024, 08:28:39 PMSecondly, Bludd & Xandi. The recent publication of the collected story took me completely by surprise and made me feel rather good. Something I wrote that other people enjoy. There are few better feelings than that. But I don't plan on writing any more B&X, I started it but I doubt I'll finish it. The Celestial Agents belong to the world now, if their story continues it continues, if it doesn't, it doesn't. Either way, I'm proud of, if not entirely happy with, it. Pushing on, and back to the point...

It is bloody good. It would be remiss of me not to give it a plug - I still have a few copies left!
Get yerself one from the PARAGONcomic blogspot BUY IT FROM HERE!!

Off Topic / Re: Comic shop memories

Sometime in the last century  I used to go to Timeslip comic shop up by the Haymarket area in Newcastle when it was barely more than a grubby pre-fab building with a brilliant back issues section. I miss those days.
Now it's moved and morphed into a Forbidden Planet, a white tiled pleasuredome of Funko Pops and Manga on the ground floor with comics relegated downstairs. It's still where I get my fix, though (when not buying old shite off ebay or backing kickstarters online).

If you've bought the latest PARAGON I hope you enjoyed it and if you do, you may be interested in a brand new Kickstarter I've just launched; PARAGON presents Bludd & Xandi Book One.

This is something I've wanted to do for ages and with the recent discovery of unpublished pencilled pages by Tom Newell (who has since gone on to work on 2000AD along with fellow contributors to this book, Jim Campbell and Karen Holloway!) it seemed a great time to print the complete story in one collection. Written by Mark Howard (you may know his work from Zarjaz as well as PARAGON), it includes all five episodes in a card backed, square bound, A4 book (Think Tintin book and you get the idea) with over 20 pages of extras including unseen art, writers notes, pin ups and more! I think you'll love it - and there is still a chance to grab a sketch with your copy if you are quick!

BACK IT HERE!
And grab yourself an early Christmas present!
