Books & Comics / Unfollow by Rob Williams
30 August, 2015, 10:04:55 PM
New Vertigo series by Rob starting in November:

QuoteUNFOLLOW #1

Written by Rob Williams, art by Michael Dowling, cover by Matt Taylor.

A dying social media mogul leaves his billions to be split evenly between 140 random people--or however many of them are still alive at the moment of his death. Williams and Dowling assemble a cast that includes a young black man trying to get by in St. Louis, an Iranian reporter in need of hope, a retired special forces soldier with a strange sense of purpose, and a thrill-seeking heiress, in this thriller that shows we're all still part of the food chain.

Can you guess which artist it is before you click on the link? Annoyingly they don't have an album set up with all the covers so you have have to go to the Timeline photos to see the rest, some NSFW.

Here's a rough translation of the summary from Bing:
Nine dead, nine seconds, one weapon: a survey to the tunes of 'déjà vu' for the Inspector Wonderball, the more misaligned COP in San Francisco. At the crossroads of XIII and Dirty Harry, the new signed police series Pecau and Duval, with Colin Wilson in the drawing.

A small summary: San Francisco, 1983. A mass killer kills 9 people from the roof of a busy street. The Inspector Spaddaccini, nicknamed by fellow Wonderball because treats it eats all day long, is responsible for the investigation. The speed of the killer reminds him of a folder that has marked his career: the assassination of Kennedy. The opportunity of a walk in the past, San Francisco freak and toxic of the 1960s and 1970s

Thanks to Eurocomics USA for finding this, well worth following them.

I don't have Thrill-Power Overload and nothing seemed to come up on Google so I was wondering if there ever was an 2000AD equivalent of this photo:

It's a photo of the founders of Metal Hurlant. From left to right: Bernard Farkas (financial director), Jean-Pierre Dionnet (Conquering Armies author), Philippe Druillet (Lone Sloane creator), and Jean Giraud (aka Moebius).

I didn't get this yet but had a flick through in a bookshop - it's supposed to have all of HMS Nightshade, The General Dies at Dawn and finishes off with a few Cam Kennedy drawn one-offs.

Help! / Trying to track down a BBC documentary
16 December, 2013, 11:55:32 PM
Please help me Hivemind! The Beeb showed a 2-hour documentary in the last few years about the failure of big famous charity programs in Ethiopia, Somalia and two other countries (I think). Can anyone remember what it was called or if it is available online? I can't bring it up on Google for the life of me. Thanks.
