Yeah even I dread to think what kind of car crash this will turn into but lets try and arrange another meet up...
01-Oct-2016 1pm
WATERSTONES WEST END
128 Princes Street, Edinburgh EH2
Alan Grant, Tom Foster, Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby, Colin MacNeil
Remember the earlier you sign up the sooner you can drop out so who's in?
Huffster must be a cert Shirley?
Let's hope it goes better than the last time a Scottish meet-up coincided with a signing session.....when absolutely none of you turned up for either.
Come on, Edinburgh. Let's show the weegies how these things are done.
Sure, why not.
Happened to spend Saturday in Edinburgh, first ever taste of that Festival too. Scotland in summer can be grand.
I'm doing the Glasgow 10K the next day so, sadly, I'm pretty sure I won't be around for this.
5 creators to sign your progs, which is a pretty decent amount. I'm sure you won't let them down.
Again ;)

It
is the weekend so you can call me Shirley if you like, how very, very Edinburgh :D
I'll gladly be the first to
fall by the wayside after signing up,
already thinking pubs :D and keeping with Lit' Terry tradition would offer The Oxford as a gambit?
Easily trumped by the cheap and cheerful barn of a Witherspoons: AG Bell nearby ::)
Go on Scotland, give us in London a run for our money!
Should've had it in Deadhead. Yer man was dishing out cans of Strongbow last time I pitched up at an event starring Colin MacNeil there.
I got half cut for the price of a couple of shabby Shade back issues.
QuoteShould've had it in Deadhead.
Deadhead's about half the size of my living room - good luck getting 5 people signing comics in there - and the owner's an arsehole.
Huffster as this is your patch I would ask that you sort out the after drinking venue. No pressure :)
Back room of the Oxford, sorted.
Unless the Grennie or Happy Shrapnel droids object :D
They are, after all, touched by the Hand of Tharg, and they have not only touch the hem of his garment: they also probably wiped it on the curtains afterwards.

Which ones you?
I'm inside buying the first round as usual ::)
So that's two of us so far... ::)

I took my wife into Deadhead seven or eight years ago. The guy behind the till stared creepily at her the entire time we were in the shop. It's an absolute miracle that I managed to persuade her to enter another comic shop. Happily, her next experience was the excellent Plan 9 in Aberdeen where the owner had a sociable conversation and discussed boardgames and comics with her, like a human being.

To be fair, you hadn't actually said you were coming... ;)

Soo three of us :D I'm sure Dode will join us if he's not off on a special mission with the Mobile Library that is really a top secret CIA op and is so secret I can talk about it on a comic forum...

Hiding in plain sight is the best form of cover. Nobody would believe you'd be allowed to talk about it if it was real.
If you want to read his prog review its on wikileaks

That's proof that I'm telling the truth, you can't stand the .... hold on, wrong thread :-[
Alas, you'll have to do without contraband butteries for this, as Edinburgh's dosshouses are too rich for this teuchters wallet- a man can only get so far on goodwill and comedic belligerence. Satanist will have to dream of their fatty, salty, toasted goodness for a while longer.
Hae a good ain though.
Ach poor timing - I'm in Edinburgh this weekend for 'Joan Collins : Unscripted' - hope she wears the basque. Next weekend I'm at Rangers v Partick Thistle (classic) and then have a 'wet the baby's head' afterwards. Have a good one gent(s).
Excellent work chaps
Definitely a no show for me now.
As well as a family party, one of my besties is coming up from Manchistoh! to do the Glasgow run the next day.
Looks like the Grennie Droid will get his wish...
You're never going to believe this, but... :-[
I wouldn't worry too much, as this is to be expected ;)

Ah'm aff!

Poor Gordon, yet again you have let the man down with your tomfoolery and teasing, saying that you were all going and then one by one pulling out :'(

Rennie should come down sarf!!!!
We'd show him a good time! ;)
We'll be fine. Plenty of people saying they're coming. Just none of the perennial no-shows here.
The next Cal-Hab signing session will be in Newcastle, to preclude the usual several pages of "I'm deffo up for this! Who's up for a big drinking sesh....och, no, wait, I've got this other thing..." havering.

That's good to hear Gordon!
Still, you've got the 40th bash next year in London, so not long before you're down 'ah mannah'. :)
Any other judges heading to Edinburgh for the 2000th prog signing of 2000AD today?
Alan Grant, Colin MacNeil, Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby and Tom Foster in attendance. I have a few items to be signed other than the 3 variant covers of prog 2000. ( I know that there's a 4th cover being printed).
Unfortunately, Alan's not been feeling well this week, and has had to drop out. The rest of us will all be there, though.
That's a shame, hope he's okay. I've not managed to pick up single prog yet in the cultural wasteland that is Falkirk, never mind four!

The newsagent across from the Callendar Square doors on Falkirk high street had a couple of copies of the Chris Burnham cover on Thursday.
filippo
Thanks. Never think to go in there.
There seems to be delivery issues - Waterstones just tweeted that they won't have any prog 2000 copies.

They just tweeted that they've turned up 🙂
Update - they've just arrived.
Well, that all went rather well. Big queue, signed dozens and dozens of things. And the store was giving the prog away for free.
We're now slumming it at a Rose Street bar. Not a Cal-Hab messageboarder in sight, naturally.
Thanks to anyone reading this who came along.
Lovely.
Glad to hear it all went well.

A pleasure to meet you all, I was there with my daughter and grand daughter :)

It was a pleasure to meet you again Gordon and thank you for signing the many books of yours I had in my rucksack.

I was there and would've been up for a pint. After signing we ended up having a great burger in The Newsroom then a few pints in The Black Bull.
Nice to hear it was such a success! :)
