Film & TV / Re: Current TV Boxset Addiction
« on: Today at 10:31:38 AM »
I ducked out of the entire MCU after Endgame. I've had my fill, its fine, and for the most part have been dragging myself through the last half dozen movies just to reach that point. Didn't even bother with either of the Ant-Man movies. I tried to give Wandavision the benefit of the doubt, it at least seemed to be trying to come at this whole tired genre from a somewhat fresh angle but only made it through three episodes before the whole show shat the bed and went back to Disney witty-farcicalness. Loki will be another miss.

I'm probably just getting old and jaded but the constant omnipresence of these properties in our collective daily lives for what is now the larger portion of my life has really soured me to the MCU and just Disney in general.

I have similar sentiments and it was pretty much Endgame that did for me as well.  I might watch a movie here or there maybe, but at this point it's exhausting and they are just pumping out so much more of it now.  Thankfully there is stuff I know I like that I can rewatch.

Similar for me, and that goes for Star Wars too.
Currently happy to see True Detective series 3 now available free, series back on form after a disappointing 2nd series.

Dredd I agree with Leigh S, So much of this story is so un-Dredd, feels like a IDW style writing.

Devlin was superb. Who would have thought a demonic dildo would would elicit empathy? and that final punch page, excellent. Still have to check where and when I'm reading this as a double page of talking (knob) heads could frighten the servants and horses.

Diamond Dogs  yes, the Ron and Ron appearance was a bit weird! reading this but not really getting hooked.

The Returners was trippy but again not really getting hooked.

Deliverance fingerscrossed that's the last we see of the Gang of Four... well outstayed their welcome.

The floppy was well timed, enjoyed reading the whole thing in a oner, which I didn't in the prog.

Is that a Knob whale? :o

All of which makes me think I’m more rather than less happy with the current set-up. Do I like everything in Regened issues? No. But then that’s true of the main Prog as well. But I like it enough for four issues a year. 50 of the things, though, feels like overkill, and having them as a literal part of the main comic doesn’t make any sense to me.

This from me too ^^^^

Mind you, ‘a punch of Scotsmen’ seems like a reasonable collective noun.

The venue - which is a bar-free sports and leisure centre - currently closed as it’s being used as a vaccination centre.  No word on whether it’ll be open by August.

Enjoy your Perth Comic Con, guys.

Thanks Gordon, so that’s that ruled out, maybe leave it and see what the next round of level reductions are?

Given that the Perth con on in the last weekend of August, you'd think there would be some more info kicking about the interweb by now... evidence perhaps of the GRennie's droids lack of faith?

How about we say Perth on saturday 28th August 1pm in a boozer yet to be named....

Now who's in?

Build it and they will come!

I'm thinking this is the inspiration, possibly, but there's another bell ringing that I can't quite place - might be a false alarm, though.
Vertigo’s definitely the inspiration but that’s not the version of the poster/cover I’m familiar with. Was thinking there had been a previous Prog cover riffing on the same source. Really & Truly maybe? But this was the closest I could find.

TV's Timetunnel?

I did see a Policeman deal with one of these very efficiently with a sweeping brush and a few hefty swipes, to much cheering from the surrounding houses

Does any of these ever sell?
Are these just ways of getting partners to think that a comic collection is worth something?

Second Jag yesterday, no side effect, all good!! and a week's hols next week.

Second Jag?  What are you, a deputy prime minister?

 Nope, Scottish: so its a jag not a jab (which is a punch). Jags are prickly things little thistles, bunnets or jumpers
