Help! / Recommendation for course.
« on: 11 August, 2021, 08:08:58 PM »

Can someone recommend a course for simple video editing for a complete newbie. I've looked at reviews for the most popular ( Or at least the most frequently advertised) but looking at reviews I discovered that these companies are considered a poor investment mainly due to their policy of allowing anyone (Without checking qualifications/ experience) to make up their own video tutoring courses so now I don't know what company to trust.

Have you guys ever heard of MSTK 3000? (Mystery Science Theatre 3000?) Wonderfully awful movies.... all with added Crow and Tom Servo.

OK. My mother has to have regular diabetic eye exams at our local hospital.

A couple of days ago we get a letter with an appointment. The time is unsuitable and we need to change it.
The only way to do so is via an on line app.

I have tried several times to do so. The address entered is not recognised. The website address given is not recognised. There is NO PHONE NUMBER. the appointment process has been privatized to a third party so you can't call the hospital admin to get them to change the appointment.

(Stream of swear words!)

And it hasn't occurred to these bloody people that there a folks out there who DON'T have access to the internet... how are they supposed to cope?

Sorry things have got away from me here. Adrian finally had his gall bladder removal operation... something he has been waiting for for over a decade! (And I think he only had it now due to others not wanting to risk a stay in hospital during covid. The operation went fine except he had a side effect that tool a while and a longer stay in Hospital to sort out. He is on the mend but we do need some more On line players.... anybody else want to have a go?

Ok. I am playing version 5. Homebrew plot. We have been using microsoft teams... but I have Discord. We won't be "ready" for a month... ( I travel to Adrian's to play because doing so at home isn't an option.)

We will be meeting at a tournament/ fair.

Due to the small number of players we had I took the unusual step of being a character as well. I am a level 5 Bard.

anything else you want to know well you just have to ask.

Sigh. Well that didn't last long.

My fledgling D & D group is no more.

Although Adrian still wants to play he can't for the next coming month or so until his visitor who will be coming over for at least two weeks returns home. (Because said visitor has irrational jealousy issues and therefore well I don't need to state the obvious)

One only was able to join us twice due to technical issues outside our control. (And you thought I was the death of technology!) This is apparently due to her "bootlegged Frankenstein's monster of an ancient laptop.

One now has "leadership training" for his church group on his only free evening

and our newbie (Who never supplied anything other than her stats, was a high elf in the arcane trickster class and had a bump on her head that was due to a curse didn't realise that you are supposed to actually DO something yourself not be told every little thing to do... even after I gave her a list of suggestions and even told her to GO TO THE ADVETURES GUILD to meet up with her spy master ...so got board and doesn't want to play anymore.

I don't really want to give up being a DM but well I now need a new team to play with....

Sorry for your hassle doc - but remember people are often working under a shitty system so vent where appropriate, but take care not to take it out on some poor sod in the middle who isn't at fault (speaking as a customer service person  :)). And no, medication should never be issued automatically. Can't speak for the competence of your particular pharmacist, but the whole point is that a skilled human is doing it rather than a note in a computer file.

what's got me pissed off is the way that popular websites just insult our intelligence and talk to us like morons. And we just accept it. We know how to navigate their bullshit, so we just get on with it, but fuck you Netflix.

I just finished a re-watch of series 1 of Jessica Jones. Now I know that Netflix is going to throw the whole rest of that franchise at me in suggestions, I accept that, and it's helpful to some extent. So why do they shittily have to lie about it? Luke Cage is not the second "Most Popular on Netflix" and Daredevil is not "Trending Now".

And what do they suggest "Because you watched Marvel's Jessica Jones"? Defenders? Iron Fist? Any other Marvel/DC property? .
V wars
Warrior Nun
Kiss me First
Mortel

I mean what?

I haven't vented at them. I stay polite. But I know that they lie and I can't prove it. Last month we waited over TWO WEEKS for mothers monthly blood pressure tablets. Something that she needs to take every day... three emails ...and six phone call it took for them to finally arrive. It is NOT good enough. And the situation is only going to get worse with my mothers deteriorating health.

AAAAgggghhhh my bloody stupid and incompetent  Doctors surgery and chemists.... both giving me the run around AGAIN. Seems that every two months I am chasing them over some item or other missing from my mothers REGULAR ORDER. Shouldn't these items be issued automatically (Like some chemist adverts CLAIM they do?) So bloody annoying as it is frequently impossible to actually get hold of someone to speak to in the first place. Even the district nurses who come round twice a week complain at how bad it is to even contact the Doctors surgery for something. But even them don't seem to actually DO anything to help rectify the situation.

I think that would depend on how much you are willing to spend. You have heard of Hero Forge? Wonderful customizable RPG figurines... but rather pricy.... and that's excluding postage to the UK. It is cheaper if you have the confidence to paint them yourself... or have access to a 3 d printed...
