Pickoff named people pretty much at random, and then an entirely predictable parade of opportunistic creeps picked that up as a banner to harass those people online. I'm not entirely sure what kind of statement 2000ad would make other than "we are aware of the parade of opportunistic creeps" or what benefit to them there would be in doing so.

You kind of need population density on a map like that too, to show just how much a lot of red areas are just a dozen shitheads and some cows.

TBH the mission and premise of the story is so abstract it doesn't really matter.

Konnie Huq co-wrote Fifteen Million Merits, which by the end is about the lucrative  uselessness of being a witty commentator on a system you are part of, i.e. Charlie Brooker, her husband. So that's interesting.

Gonna stand by Dredd vs Aliens as a very good Aliens story and a pretty decent Dredd one. But that probably doesn't count as "unexpected" given the people involved.

IIRC Mills was writing the scripts as the art came in, so some of it may be fairly recent.

The autopsy one was my favorite of the bunch... tapped out after the Mandy one as that made it three in a row I didn't like, but the last is supposed to be great.

Fun aspect to the autopsy one is the monster has been used in a Call of Cthulhu story so I have stats for it.
