Loving Dante. In my head, I can see the final panel of the last ever Dante story being
a mirror of the last scene from the Conan movies. Tsar Nicolai, old and grey, brooding alone on the throne. All he wanted was Jena and freedom, but all he gets is the throne he despises.
But, that's just me. I've loved following Dante's adventures and can't wait for more. The whole thing has a marvelous ancient/modern and literary feel to it. Fantastic!

Dredd's
loss of control upset me for a moment, too, but I'm hoping this is going to lead to something. Something a little more substantial than even tighter tight boots. Dredd's been on the streets forever and he's had, what, about 52 hours sleep in the past decade? All that constant peril and exertion is bound to take its toll, both physically and mentally. Even judges are bound to snap occasionally. And Dredd is only a cloned human being, after all, a damned tough one, but human nevertheless. This may just be another stepping-stone towards taking Dredd off the streets and kicking him upstairs. If the loss of control was just written in because it "sounded cool," then I'm going to be bloody annoyed.
The thing with the bugs:
Bugs eat everything, combine to recreate what they've eaten, eat bigger and bigger things until there's only two of them left crawling over the planet like frogs on a football?
See? I don't think I understood it, either.

SINDEX: Now that I come to write about it, I can't remember what happened.

Cliff Robinson: Yaaay!
Cliff Robinson's last panel: Oh dear.

Top of my list has to be Judge Dredd, of course. I'd love to see a top-notch, 18 Certificate, cgi Dredd movie. (Or at least a series of half-hour episodes to be shown after the watershed on Channel 4.) Start with an early plot, I'd say, combine the Return of Rico with the Robot War and don't kill Rico at the end. But that's just me. We're hip-deep in good Dredd plots so I wouldn't presume to invent a new one... Er.

Some of the Harryhausen movies might benefit from a modern remake, but as many of the plots were quite simple (huge radioactive monster appears and starts ripping things up, plucky hero with a jury-rigged instrument and a daring plan puffs out his chest and grimly sets his lantern jaw, huge radioactive monster defeated), Hollywood's not going to be able to resist writing in a blind orphan with a cute three-legged dog finding friendship under the wing of a fast-talking ex-con with a heart of gold who knows where the rubies are buried kind of sub-plot. (Didn't they recently remake a Sinbad movie but decided to make the eponymous hero hail from Greece because, obviously, no hero ever came from Baghdad?)

With a good director, The Day the Earth Stood Still would be an interesting project to update, even though many might regard this as a sacrilegious suggestion. Forbidden Planet, too - still using Leslie Neilson, but this time made by the Airplane! team... (I just can't watch Neilson in anything serious, these days.)

Mostly, though, I'd like to see a remake of my wedding video - one where I don't turn up.

M10 H42

"Emten! Shut down all the garbage compactors on the detention level!"

"Why, Master Luke... I do believe this would be the perfect time to discuss my fee..."

And just what's wrong with being 42? It is, after all, the Ultimate Answer.

"KHOOO-KHUUUU! KHOOO-KHUUUU! KHOOO-KHUUUU!  Your puny Ultimate Answer is insignificant compared to the power of the Force. KHOOO-KHUUUU! "

"Lord Vader! Enough of this. I haven't got all day, my wife's grand moff needs tarking this afternoon..."

Nurse! The screens!

Anybody help me? All my collection is missing are:

Megazine #255 (March 2007)
2000AD Winter Special #5 (1995)

(And, of course, copies of Progs 1-100 that weren't vandalised by a stupid sharkling all those years ago.)

Here's hoping...

Try looking here:  http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/vmware/baintro.php
or here:   http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/   for useful info.

Try using Firefox instead of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. (No, really, Firefox is far superior and harder to hack, imho.)

I also find it useful to install a secondary, clean browser (such as Opera, Avant or Safari) to be used only when the main browser isn't working properly. Doing this allows you to visit sites and download anti-bollixware blocked by your infected browser.

I remember that, one morning in around 1983 or 84, there was an earth tremor in Southport and, just for a moment or so, everybody around was convinced that the bombs had started to fall. That was probably the most terrifying minute of my life to date (if you don't include my wedding ceremony, which was infinitely worse).  :o

Is Threads the one with the traffic warden armed with an assault rifle and whose face was swathed in bloody bandages? Now, there was a really scary image.

Maybe not exactly according to the rules...

In my (small and twisted) mind, the above pics are actually mini-stories. I know that they aren't, not really, but this conceit does allow me to boast that I have both written and illustrated Judge Dredd in 2000AD. Heh, and how sad is that?
