Information on availability is on the Wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End_Is_Nigh#Availability

Unfortunately due to last minute unexpected extra printing costs (which we won't go into to save LMS' health/sanity) it won't be available through comic shops.

However, you will be able to buy a copy via the website:

http://www.endisnigh.co.uk/

Currently you can only get issue #2 (not too big a hardship as it is worth getting too!! It is the one which won SFX's Fanzine of the Month award and Boo Cook's cover is nearly worth it in itself ;) ) but they should be updating the order form soon so you will be able to order it online any day.

When its done I'm sure someone will drop in and let you know - keep watching this space (and the skies - always the skies).

"I am *yet again* bowled-over at the sheer brilliance of this little gem. The amount of research, creativity and thought that's gone into it leaps off every page, and the sheer wealth of content means it'll continue to be my Bogside Browser of choice for months to come. Funny, intriguing, often surreal and genuinely informative."

Can we quote you on that? There can really be no higher recommendation than a chap's choice of bog lit to peruse in the Smallest Room ;)

"A supreme front cover."

We could play a game of guess who modelled for the cover.

I suppose he is looking at the bottom line - if he can get a foothold in that market he stands to rack up some impressive sales numbers with a lot of material created that can be optioned for other media.

It did make me think that we have a lot of reqorking of British superheroes and a lot of homegrown (OK 2000 AD grown in the main) talent go off to write superhero comics for the American firms and yet we don't actually have any British superhero comics. Marvelman showed you can have a British superhero without it being overly... twee.

Some come on Dickie - how about a superhero anthology comic?

Issue #0 is out now and available free online (link below).

The art is slick although I wasn't blown away by the stories but I suspect they should turn out fine with a bit room to really show us what they can do.

There is also a lot of promise in the material they are talking of drawing on (see the Virgin Comics homepage for more art and ideas) and the Garth Ennis/John Woo project certainly has me intrigued.

I think the conclusion was Smudge was Smudge.

It is probably a little too soon after the Cal Hamilton switcheroo for them to try such a thing.

That said reading back through the thread makes me wonder if there is a cunning game of misdirection going on. Hmmmmmmmm.

Well who'd have thought it:

Critics wowed by Superman return

The first reviews for Superman Returns have given the new movie, which stars newcomer Brandon Routh as the legendary superhero, a resounding thumbs up.

Variety magazine's critic said it was "grandly conceived, sensitively drawn [and] never self-consciously hip".

"It is sincere, with an artistic elegance and a genuine emotional investment in the material," he wrote.

The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, saluted "a heartfelt Superman movie that plays to a broad audience".

Routh, it continued, plays the comic book character "with honesty [and] winning fortitude".

And Newsweek's David Ansen wrote: "From the start of this gorgeously crafted epic, you can feel that Singer has real love and respect for the most foursquare comics superhero of them all.

"Newcomer Routh may or may not be a real actor, but he effortlessly lays claim to the iconic role."

His comments were echoed by Harry Knowles on the Ain't It Cool News website, who described Superman Returns as "the film I was hoping and dreaming for".

"Just as Batman Begins relaunched an ailing Batman, it sends Superman into the stratosphere," he wrote.

The film - which stars Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane - is released in the US on 28 June and in the UK on 14 July.

It is the Man of Steel's first big-screen appearance since 1987's Superman IV: The Quest for Peace starring the late Christopher Reeve.

Singer's previous films have included The Usual Suspects and the first two instalments in the X-Men franchise.

The Torquemada appearances are incomplete as he has appeared in most Nemesis series - he appears in some of the earliest ones and definitely Nemesis Book 1 as he appears on the cover of prog 222.

The New Adventures of Hitler is a four parter. The last two parts are:

Crisis #48 - "Mr. Hitler's Holiday"

Crisis #49 - I haven't been able to find this out (it's not clear from the issue or I'm overlooking it). Perhaps someone here can fill in the last blank.

My vote goes to Tales of the Black Freighter, the greatest pirate comic DC never published.

Fear not someone has gone to the trouble of reconstructing it. The results are... well you decide.

It might have been better if an artist had tried to reconstruct the images - or it might have been far far worse.
