Film & TV / Boardwalk Empire s4 (spoilers)
19 November, 2012, 11:46:09 PM
Did try looking for a thread for this show, but didn't see one.

Has anyone watched the latest epidsode? ep10 se4.

Thought it was really good, killing off Owen has really kicked things up a notch. I am pretty sure they are gonna have Nucky and Richard Harrow (the guy with half a face) team up, that will be cool to see.

What an awesome film. Hopefully Arnie will do another one now that he has returned to acting. It's been too long since there was a good one. 25 years in fact!

It came today in the post and god damn it was good! This may be because I am already a big aliens fan, but it made a great Dredd story too in my opinion. I like too how the pest control seems very similar to the Marines in Aliens.

An especially cool bit was when Dredd said 'Come on then- take me if you think your hard enough!'

That was ace! Also, the art when people got hit by acid was stunning.

Wish it had been longer though. Or if we got to see a sneaky facehugger escape and then there could be another one.

5 stars!

A search bar, so I can find topics similar to this and post in there.

A gallery, so we can browse through super cool pictures.

Longer time to edit a post.

Fix image code (this may just be me, but I can't post images)

Help! / Logo Graphic Design
14 October, 2011, 02:57:23 PM
Hi all, was just wondering on the off chance there is anyone on here is who is handy with graphic design on a computer? I have designed a logo for my band, but I lack the ability and software to create it on a computer. I would post an image of it, but this forum won't let me for some reason.

It's basically a circle, with the band name in the ring around it, and in the centre an image of a skull with a cigarette in his mouth and has has a greaser hair do.

If anyone is interested I will try get a picture to you.

Cheers.

Other Reviews / The Henry Flint Collection

Ok, so the other day, while browsing for Dredd graphic novels I came across this going cheap on ebay. After being quite pleased for winning a bidding war and getting it for a bargain of £5 (including postage) I was quite looking forward to it.

Now, after reading just the first three stories I felt I had to do a review. So here it goes.

What the hell is going on?

These stories are absolutely crazy. The first story was ok, but nothing special, then the second one started to get a bit too silly, and not really make sense. Then the third one; Talking turkeys on the run?!?
Wow.

Anyways, the turkey one was funny at least, but not the kind of comedy I buy Dredd for.

I am just curious as the artist is clearly talented so why would his collection be some totally ridiculous stories like these?

I don't think i'll be keeping this in my collection long.

Couldn't find a topic discussing the leaked script Peach Trees, so I thought I would start one to see what people think and share my opinions on it. If you don't want to know anything about it don't read past this!!!

Overall, I thought the script was great, a nice action story that suits the dredd world well, and I really liked the die hard feel. Sure nothing extremely bold or daring, but because it is Dredd it is 5 times better then any other modern action movie already. And seems like a good way to bring new fans to the franchise to support sequels.

However, just a few things were nagging at me.

I may have missed it, but I don't recall Dredd ever using the word creep. This disappointed me and I hope it is implemented in the final film, I think it is an important word. It's funny, and cool.

Also, the kiss at the end is not really a good idea. The whole idea of Anderson getting shot is pointless anyway. No one will think she is dead, so there won't be a surprise when she turns out ok. A real surprise would be for dredd to kill ma ma before she can do anything, or for Anderson to die. The latter being not such a good idea either, but at least there is shock value.

And I think to end it with a bit of good old Dredd humour, Dredd should have given Anderson something like a C- instead of an A. So she passes, but she did make some mistakes and Dredd is a harsh bastard.

Apart from that I was happy with everything else, I can't wait for this film. It's gonna rock.

(I was laughing my ass off when he shoots the perp at the start through a citizen, and while she's screaming tells her to calm down it hit no major organs.)

I can't add images to my posts. When I put in an image code and hit enter it just goes to a blank page. Anyone else having this problem?

Is it any good?

General / Judge Dredd Facebook
11 October, 2011, 12:22:52 AM
I've noticed there isn't really any good active judge dredd facebook pages and was wondering if anyone would be interested in being an admin with me if I set one up?

Currently the most popular one is the page for Stallone's film which is not a good representation. I already help run a Aliens vs Predator page with almost 6000 likes so can help promote it through there and here.

https://www.facebook.com/dredd.is.law

Make a post in here if you are interested and I will add you, but only a couple as don't want too many people running it.

Hi,

I think it would be cool to have some Judge Dredd wallpapers, was trying to find some just now on google and there isn't a great selection. Mostly the Stallone one, and I don't really want that staring me in the face every day.

General / First Dredd
09 September, 2011, 03:57:35 PM
Hi all,

have finally purchased my first Dredd graphic novel, decided to go with Tour of Duty: Backlash as the cover was too badass not to. I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but it had good reviews too.

Do you think this is a good place to start with the Dredd universe? Can you recommend any other good titles?

Thanks.

Film Discussion / Riots
12 August, 2011, 09:41:30 PM
Have just been watching footage from the riots in the UK. I heard about it late as I was on holiday. I have to say, some of that footage would be great in the new Dredd film. Lots of burning stuff, and police.

I had my doubts when I first heard Karl Urban was gonna be Judge Dredd, but only because I didn't think he had a big enough chin. But seeing the pictures, he scowls pretty good.

But now I am hoping he can sound as badass as he looks. I don't actually know what Dredd is supposed to sound like, but in my mind it would be like that of someone who puts whiskey on his cereal (which is the broken glass from the bottle) and smokes 60 cigarettes every half hour.

Actors with cool voices that come to mind are Lance Henriksen or Michael Madsen.

Karl Urban played an elf.

Also, I wonder what accent he will have.

This is Rebellions latest game, after deserting the fans of AvP. Though it looks like an interesting concept, after the bugs and lack of support of their last title, I doubt it will sell strongly.

Welcome to the board / Greetings
10 January, 2011, 02:19:25 AM
Hi.

Honestly, I am completely new not only to the 2000 AD forums, but also to the comics.(With the exception of "The Stainless Steel Rat" which my girlfreind got me for christmas a few hours before breaking up with me. So weathe she intended to get me something I like or not I am unsure.)I am very much into collecting graphic novels, and I like the darker grittier ones, like Watchmen, Batman, Predator and stuff like that.

It has only recently occurred to me start collecting Judge Dredd, which has surprised even me. Why I have not sooner, I have no idea, as he is cool as they come and my father is very much into 2000AD. (I think he has been collecting them since they started in the 70s)
So, it's not like I have never heard of him.

So basically, I am looking for the best Graphic Novels starring Dredd. I have seen that there are the complete case files, but honestly I think it would be best if I didn't start at the start, rather at the best.

Can anyone help me out by suggesting his best stories?

Also, I am massively addicted to the Alien and Predator franchises, mainly because of Rebellions latest game? If anyone else is into it, I am admin on a aliens vs predator fansite/forum  http://www.aliensvspredator.net/
