Announcements / Clickwheel is closing
21 July, 2015, 03:36:35 PM
Notice: Clickwheel is closing and being replaced with a new 2000 AD service.

If you've already registered for a Rebellion ID with this email address, or notified us of a change in email, everything should be on track for migrating your digital purchases at the end of the month. If not, please take action this week to make sure you don't lose access to your content!

The Clickwheel digital comics service will soon cease to operate. However all users' existing entitlements to 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine will be carried over to the new 2000 AD digital web shop. To access your content you will need to sign up for a Rebellion ID, see below.

Web-based digital subscriptions and purchases of individual Progs and Megs, with issues downloadable in the same high-quality (DRM-free) PDF and CBZ formats, will continue to be available. The Clickwheel digital comics service and website will be withdrawn on 31st July 2015.

Account Migration Instructions
•   We will be able to migrate your existing digital entitlements over to the new service, but in order for us to be able to do so, you will need to create a Rebellion ID by Sunday 19th July 2015 here: https://account.rebellion.co.uk/
•   If possible, please create your Rebellion ID with the same email address as you have used for your Clickwheel account (i.e. the one this email has been sent to), the password can (and probably should) be different.
•   If you wish to register for a Rebellion ID using a different email address, that's fine, but in this case, you will need to send an email to clickwheel.support@rebellion.co.uk after creating your Rebellion ID, advising us of both your existing Clickwheel email address and the new email address that you've used for your Rebellion ID.
•   If you already have an existing Rebellion ID (e.g. if you've logged into the 2000 AD web store or one of our mobile apps recently), you can use that, but again, if that uses a different email address from your Clickwheel one, please email us, so that we can match your accounts.
Benefits of the new 2000 AD digital web shop
•   Cross-platform availability of purchased content, at no extra charge i.e. Progs, Megs and other digital content purchased through the new service (as part of a subscription, or otherwise), as well as being downloadable via the Web, will also automatically be available to view through our iOS and Android apps, using the same login
•   Digital subscriptions to the Judge Dredd Megazine will also be available, not just subscriptions to 2000 AD
•   A more modern and easier to navigate interface, with a design more similar to our 2000 AD iOS and Android apps

The new Apple app can be found here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/2000-ad-featuring-judge-dredd/id993151052

If you have any questions about migrating your account or any other queries about the transition, please contact: clickwheel.support@rebellion.co.uk

2000 AD has unleashed its brand new stand-alone app for Apple devices – and loaded with new back issue bundle deals!

Previously published through Apple's Newsstand service, the new app includes all the comics, collections, specials, and freebies previously available – and all DRM-free thanks to the Rebellion ID system that allows you to download your comics on any device!

To celebrate the launch, new bundle deals allow readers to save around a quarter by buying an entire year's worth of issues in one go.  You can plug gaps in your collection with bundles of 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine from 2010, 2011, and 2012, with further deals in the future – and more years to be added.

Due to the terms and conditions for ios Newsstand apps, the old 2000 AD app will continue to publish just 2000 AD under the new name 'The Weekly Prog from 2000 AD', while the Judge Dredd Megazine, 2000 AD specials, and our huge range of classic and new graphic novels will be available in the new app.

Current subscribers can log-in to the new app with their old details and download their purchases free of charge!

Thanks to the app, Earthlets hungry for Thrill-power can buy individual issues or select one of our great value subscription options, then have the latest issue delivered direct to their iPad or iPhone every week! Subscribers can save up to 24% and get a range of back issues totally FREE!

And for those who are new to 2000 AD there are FREE sample issue featuring some of 2000 AD's top stories, including Judge Dredd, Kingdom, Ichabod Azrael, and many more!

The 2000 AD app is also available on Android devices and, with a single Rebellion ID log-in, any app purchase can be synced with and downloaded from the 2000 AD webshop in DRM-free PDF or CBZ formats.

The creative process behind the break-out science fiction hit movie of 2015, Ex Machina, is to be opened up in a very special book this August.

Alex Garland's directorial debut has confirmed his position as the master of indie SF cinema and artist Jock's concept work behind the film's robot AI and the heart of the story, Ava, is being printed for the first time in a unique showcase format.

AVA Evolved is a very special limited edition art book, that will feature loose-leafed A3 scale portfolio pieces, collecting Jock's incredible concept art, detailing the evolution of Ava, from early mood-pieces to detailed key concept art.

This stunning sequence of drawings, paintings and collages by the concept artist behind DREDD (2012) provides real insight into the creative process behind one of the most striking SF films of recent years. The book also includes an introduction by Garland, whose directorial vision has seen Ex Machina become a sleeper hit, as more audiences have discovered the film's incredible aesthetic, complex characters, and insightful moral questions.

The book is limited to just 500 copies and will be available exclusively from the 2000 AD webshop at http://shop.2000adonline.com/products/ex_machina_ava_evolved

A handful of special editions will also be available at the 2000 AD booth (Booth 2806) at Comic Con San Diego, 9th-12th July, where Jock will be signing on the Thursday of the event.

Jock said: "It's been an incredible experience for me seeing Ava come to life in the final film, and the response people have had to her. I worked with Alex in the very earliest stages of production, and this portfolio contains all the images from that time, before she was handed over to the amazing VFX team at Double Negative. It was a few intense weeks trying to figure out what this machine was and I'm looking forward to people getting to look behind the scenes and see the process from the first sketch to the final concepts in this beautifully designed package from Rebellion."

Ben Smith, Rebellion Publishing's Head of Books and Comic Books, said: "Ex Machina continues to surprise and delight audiences, so it is a privilege and a pleasure to bring Jock's work on Ava into the light. Ava Evolved really is a unique opportunity to see the process behind the character's look in a showcase format, as well as learning so much about one of the most in-demand concept artists in movies today."

General / Wanted: Star Lord #1 & #2
06 March, 2015, 04:15:42 PM
We're currently looking to purchase copies of Star Lord #1 and #2 for the 2000 AD archive. The old bound edition we inherited from IPC has seen better days and is missing decent copies of these issues so we're looking to replace them. These two issues need to be in absolute tip top condition so please do let me know if you have them and what you'd be asking for for both of them.

Cheers,

Announcements / Brett Ewins 1955-2015
17 February, 2015, 01:16:26 PM
We are very saddened to hear of the death of artist Brett Ewins.

Throughout his years of working for 2000 AD, Brett was responsible for some truly unmissable art - from Judge Dredd and Anderson Psi Division to Rogue Trooper and his incredible work on Bad Company with Peter Milligan and Jim McCarthy.

He was also a hugely influential figure in British comics thanks to his founding of Deadline with Steve Dillon in 1988, something that changed the face of the industry forever.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Brett's family and friends.

At the request of his relatives, anyone who would like to pass on their condolences can send them to this address: For the attention of R. Ewins c/o 45 Mandela Close, London NW10 8BQ

Attention citizens! Prepare yourselves for the definitive collection of the ultimate Lawman of the Future – Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection is launching on 21st January!

Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection is a fortnightly collection of classic stories from the UK's biggest comic character, brought to you by Hachette Partworks and 2000 AD.

You can subscribe online now and get subscriber-only exclusive free gifts at www.judgedreddcollection.com make sure you check out the six specially commissioned artworks only available to subscribers.

This is the definitive collection of Judge Dredd and his world, packaged in beautifully produced hardback editions whose spines, once assembled, form a special brand new image that will bring the law to any fan's bookshelves.

With stories that have never before been reprinted, the Mega Collection will give a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the development of classic characters, scenes and storylines with:

-   interviews with the creators
-   previously unseen sketches and designs

The Mega Collection will feature the most famous Judge Dredd stories such as The Cursed Earth, The Apocalypse War, and Necropolis alongside newer series such as Origins and Day of Chaos, plus incredible stories and insane characters from the world beyond the walls of Mega-City One.

Created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, for 38 years Judge Dredd has been the mainstay of the legendary weekly comic 2000 AD. Policing the vast megalopolis of Mega-City One that stretches down the east coast of America in the 22nd Century, Judge Dredd wields the powers of judge, jury, and executioner. The Judges rule the city with an iron fist in a satire on the excesses of state power which goes from police procedural to action strip to polemic to sprawling epics in the blink of an eye.

The series has produced some of the biggest British and Irish talent in comics– including Mark Millar, Grant Morrison, Garth Ennis, Chris Weston, Jock, Frazer Irving, and Brian Bolland. Their imaginative and groundbreaking stories are represented in this glorious new collection, some of them reprinted for the first time.

18 July, 2014, 01:35:09 PM
Completely personal post, but if anyone has kids and lives within reching distance of Northamptonshire then History Live! at Kelmarsh Hall between Northampton, Corby, and Kettering is on this weekend.

It's a multi-period history event and will have re-enactments of everything from Romans to World War Two, plus a huge encampment and various family-friendly things.

I'll be there flying the flag (literally) for the Sealed Knot, I'm sure Wake will be there too.

The droids are currently putting together the first book of 'Daily Star' Judge Dredd strips and have scoured archives across the globe (true story). But some of the strips still remain MIA! Do you have high resolution scans or good quality originals of these strips, Earthlets? If so, Tharg the Mighty would love to hear from you!

General / Dredd in Bengali??
07 February, 2014, 12:26:24 PM
We currently have a droid out at the India Comic Con in Delhi and one of the things that's cropped up in conversation is that Judge Dredd strips were apparently translated into Bengali (and possibly Hindi) in the 1990s - we wondered if anyone had ever come across copies, or whether it was just a bootleg?
