Just flagging these up (mentioning the artist does make it easy to doublecheck any possible problems):

1760 was by Chris Weston, D'Israeli did 1761 and 1752.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Bah - I meant 1761. Excuse for Pete to feck it up!

1st (3 points) - Prog 1729, Flash, James Mackay

2nd (2 points) - Prog 1734, Anderson, Garry Brown

3rd (1 point) - Prog 1748, Sinister Dexter, Tiernen Trevallion

If it was just for the art, I think Henry Flint could have knocked one or two of these out, but as covers these are all nice and striking.  If I'd never heard of 2000AD and saw all this years issues laid out, these three would probably be the ones I'd pick up first.

so hard 1.1763 henry flint 2.1759 clint langley 3.1750 greg staples!

1st place (3 points): Prog 1746 - Henry Flint, Zombo (I'll still remember this cover in 40 yrs time!)
2nd place (2 points): Prog 1741 - Garry Brown, Dredd (I love the colours and idiosyncratic inking)
3rd place (1 point): Prog 1745 - Neil Roberts, Savage (Initially I wasn't that impressed by this cover, but it grew on me and won the final point I had to offer)
----------------------------------------------------
Honorable Mention: Prog 1732 - Tiernen Travallion (This was the cover that got me back into reading 2000AD regularly after 20yrs of thrillsucker infestation)

This is really tricky. So many great, eye-catching covers. At a push;

3rd place - 1752 - Low Life, D'Israeli
2nd place - 1738 - Dredd, Cliff Robinson
1st place - 1763 - Dredd, Henry Flint

Who would have guessed you could have so much fun agonising over your favourite covers?

First: 1734, Garry Brown, Anderson. Stunningly good.
Second: 1752, Low Life, D'israeli.
Third: 1762, Angel Zero, Lee Garbett

And if I could have a fourth place it'd be Henry Flint's 1763 Dredd leaping right at you out of the flames.

A very good year for covers! :D

When I saw this thread I thought 'Well D'Israeli's Dirty Frank just has to be in my top three', but then I saw the rest and was just reminded of how great some of them were.

So in reverse order;
1751
1734
1724 - that Flesh wraparound is just gorgeous. My favourite of the year
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!

Alski

1st - 1750, Greg Staples Dredd

2nd - 1757, Neil Robertson Angel Zero

3rd - 1724, Liam Sharp Flesh

BUMP! I'm bumping this as voting closes at Midnight on 2nd January.

Blimey, there's everything to play for as I've done a preliminary count of boarder votes + plus votes on my blog + the ecbt 2000AD blog votes (go on, get your maths jokes out of the way!) At the minute there's a clear winner, TWO covers are sharing second place and two are sharing fifth place. There's only a few points in it between the 3rd, 4th and 5th places too so late votes will change everything!

If you haven't already voted, now is your chance to make a difference!
