But that is one of the reasons why, or at least I think where, critics get their wires crossed. They assumed Dredd was a Hollywood remake of a piss poor flop that was so close to The Raid's bare bones premise that they thought it was just the usual rip-off of a hip and cool foreign action film, and we all know that well made foreign non-English speaking films are trendy.

Yeah, in some ways the makers of Dredd were almost too successful in making a slick product that rivals what Hollywood has to offer on a fraction of the budget. I wouldn't have it any other way of course. They could have maybe marketed its indie credentials more I guess but that's easy to say in hindsight.

Anyway, sorry for derailing this thread with my critics rant. A quick look at Rotten Tomatoes tells me that most critics agree with me that Dredd is awesome anyway  :)

Interview with Karl Urban in the latest SFX magazine where he mainly talks about his forthcoming role in J.J Abrams soon to be released series, Almost Human, but also when asked about a possible Dredd sequel, states that a sequel is being actively pursued due to high Blu-ray and DVD sales.

Nothing really new, but nice to hear that Urban is still flying the Dredd sequel flag.

Mr Urban, Grud bless you!

An interview in the latest Sci-Fi Now magazine (the one with Robocop on the front) with Dredd's executive producer Adi Shankar, where he talks of adapting comic books into movies, The Dredd short (about 33% finished), Dredd's cult movie status and impressive Blu-ray and DVD sales and the challenge of a potential Dredd sequel living up to the high standards of the first.

According to a Facebook post , the new SFX RoboCop special has a double page spread on Judge Dredd and RoboCop , with art by Dylan Teague.

I won't post the whole image as it defeats the object of buying the mag , but here's Dredd...

...because I hate you.

I shall peruse the shelves soon and decide if that is worth my money.

See, if people actually bothered to buy the magazine, there'd be more chance of a sequel to the article.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

COMMANDO FORCES

It's a good job I bought the mag then and another one that has a snippet of Dredd inside. Never doubt the call of the Cellar.

By the way the SFX Special has a 4 page comparison between the two ;)
