I certainly never noticed this until just now but check out the badge names on those judges in this Fabry Dredd panel...

Some glorious Full Tilt Boogie action from the marvelous Eduardo Ocaña Alonso...  And this one wraps up one book, which is now back with me after a mere seven years (this all started nearly ten years ago); this book started off in Spain with Carlos and ended up back there with Ed, which was kind of pleasing.  Anyway, I've scanned everything and made a .pdf but I'll figure out how to share all this properly in due course...

Another great page you are a lucky man- 3 amazing books of outstanding art

I hope your family can appreciate the contents.

Four books in all; I think one is now finished and the other three just have a last page left (all sitting with artists now).  It's been a much longer slog than I envisaged at the beginning; a real labour of love but the support from artists and the affection for 2000AD from everyone involved in this has been abundantly clear.  I'll do a proper wrapping up when it's all over (probably still a fair way off since the pieces emerge when they're ready and I know artists have much better things to do than this).  I've only seen three of the books in person once, at the 40th bash, so we'll all ogle them properly once they're home...

Always nice to have an excuse to revive this thread and here's a joyous piece of Intestinaut goodness from Pye Parr...

Just one page left in this book now.  Two others are full or having the last page worked on and I think the last one might be just about done too.  Once they eventually come home it'll be quite strange, after the ten year journey they've been on.

Terrible news; very sad to hear this.  Bolt - you'll be much missed.

I'm currently getting stuck into Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel - really very enjoyable to far.  Brought Zone One to mind but only because it's well-written post-apocalyptic stuff (global flu pandemic rather than zombie hordes).

After that I think Sleeping Giants (Sylvain Neuvel) has worked it's way to the top to the to-read pile.

Bejaypers. So none of them are Bisley at all?

That Masterman cover is just very wrong too. Vampire possessed by a dark god he may be, but he's supposed to look like a white supremacist's wet dream, not a superzombie from a metal album sleeve.

No, not Bisley - and now I'm really wanting to see how he might have approached Zenith back in the day...

Recently purchased the Henry flint run of Omega Men comics from D.C. (2006-07)

The last time I bought a big 2 floppy was McCarthy’s Spider-Man series. I’ve honestly no idea how people read monthlies - on this D.C. book every other page is an advert - one page comic, one page some garish advert. It’s near impossible to read, certainly impossible to immerse yourself into. Regardless of all other reasons sales might be low (price, distribution etc) this screams fatal mistake to me. Do those of you who buy monthlies not get the rage from this formatting?

Thank god for 200ad’s lack of adverts.

Was it Milligan, McCarthy & Ewins's Strange Days that managed to get an agreement to have all the adverts grouped together at the back of each issue?  I could go and check the shelf but I can't be arsed right now.

I mean, it’s better than the shockingly bad covers on the Quality Nemesis run I once had, but…

For honesty's sake they should have gone with Quantity instead of Quality.

that cover is credited to Bisley on the site, but it's not a Simon Bisley cover.

wonder who it is?

Yup - after applying 2 minutes of web-fu, the third of these at least is definitely by Dave DeVries...  The style also fits for the other ones, and he's done more by the look of it.

I've just started the final book in Alastair Reynolds' Revenger trilogy - really enjoying these so far and the blurb 'Pirates of the Caribbean meets Firefly' is reasonably accurate.  Add a dash of Black Sails (although not for the pace or the tits) and you're getting there.

General / Re: Favourite Artist - Champ of Champs - Ron Smith or D’Israeli

This one's a really difficult choice but I think I have to go for D'Israeli here.
